The most wonderful time of the year! The Primary Holiday concerts are always fun and very popular events. Please mark your calendar for Monday, Dec 10 th : Monday, December 10th : 5K 2 nd Grades: 5:30pm 3 rd & 4 th grades: 7:00pm Concerts will be held in the Intermediate School Gym. Carpooling is highly recommended. Doors will be open 30 minutes prior to performances. COMMUNITY GIVING TREE To give love is to have it returned to you. That s what it means to be part of the Community Caring tree. Holiday wishes or needs are noted on gift tags and placed on the tree located in Primary School entryway. Those who wish to participate remove a tag, purchase the desired gift, wrap it and affix the tag to the package and then return the gift to the school. The gifts are then sorted and distributed to families in our community. Wrapped gifts are due in the office by Fri., December 14 th. **Please Note: The Clothing Drive continues throughout the school year. Donations can be delivered to the school office all year long, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. MAKERSPACE DONATIONS REQUESTED LOOKING FOR BOARD GAME AND CARD GAME DONATIONS The 3rd graders are hard at work in the MakerSpace creating cardboard arcade games. We will hold a Game Night in February and would like to have new games for raffle basket style prizes instead of trinket prizes. Any hands-on children's or family game will work (board games, card games, dice games, etc...) Donations can be dropped off in the MakerSpace room or placed into the donation bin in the front entrance until February 12th. Questions? Contact Corinne Meissner meissnerc@merton.k12.wi.us And. It's time for fall cleaning and organizing! As you tidy up, please keep the Makerspace in mind. We don't have room to store large quantities or big items, but we are always grateful for your smaller donations. Some current needs are: -clothespins (any size or type) -pom-poms -Q-Tips (cheap is fine) -ribbon or fabric scraps -cardboard tubes -different sized paper plates -feathers -cardboard egg cartons -pipe cleaners -large foam pieces -small balls such as ping pong or tennis (for 3rd grade arcade games) -wiggle eyes -small craft-type pieces for decorating (dials, knobs, etc...) PARENTS UNITED CONSORTIUM Parents United is a non-profit consortium of 27 Waukesha County special education departments (including Merton) that have united to provide an educational community service. The mission of the group is to present timely and informative information in a neutral forum for parents and professionals who work with children. The lectures and presentations offered each school year provide essential links, knowledge and networking to the entire community for the ultimate benefit of our students. The train is bejeweled with hundreds of thousands of twinkling lights and travels across the US and Canada to raise awareness of and donations for local food pantries. Santa Claus will welcome the crowd and during the half hour stop a traveling boxcar stage show will feature live music by The Trews and Willy Porter. The Chamber will be selling light up Santa hats and reindeer antlers to welcome the train! Hot dogs, hot chocolate and popcorn will be available for purchase. Christmas Carols by local groups will be featured prior to the train s arrival. All visitors are strongly encouraged to bring donations of cash or non-perishable food items down to the train where all donations stay in the Lake Country area. This is an honor for our Village and we hope that the surrounding Lake Country communities will turn out in force to witness this spectacular display and give generously in support of those in need. Culvers will donate a portion of the evening s proceeds to us! JOB OPPORTUNITY AT ARROWHEAD HIGH SCHOOL The Foodservice at Arrowhead has openings for part time staff.
