The July match has came and went with a pleasant surprise, No rain, snow but we did have a bit of a breeze off and on. I would like to thank all of the good folks that came to help set the match and to help take it down with out your help none of this would be possible. The stage coach has a new roof and a brand new paint job this year with all the thanks going to Yukon Jann and St. Jim. Thanks again folks. We had a very good shoot with above average cowpokes and Ladies showing up for the event on the Independence Day weekend. There were several new shooters that came to enjoy the festivities, we welcome each and everyone of you good folks. Please come back. We did have another observer waylaid by Scrag, poor fellow was drug to the loading table and forced to take part in the match. We can all hear him kicking and screaming as Scrag forced him to shoot. What a way to get someone involved, just let Scrag get near them. Thank you Scrag the fellow was more than pleased with you and so are we. Remember folks the annual match is just around the corner, so lets get those registrations in ASAP. So Long Till Next Month! Yaro

PAGE 2 RATTLER TATTLER VOLUME 3 ISSUE 7 SHORT ROUNDS FROM STARSHOT Greetings, folks! Hope you all had a good time at this month s match. Once again it was great to see both old friends and new shooters at the match. Lately it seems like Mother Nature has something in store for us each time we get together. This time there was no snow or rain, just a good baking in the sun. We are still looking for folks who want to help out at the annual shoot. We ll start setting up on the afternoon of Thursday, July 31st and there will still be plenty of work to do the next morning (Friday August 1st) before we start shooting Cannonball, long range and side matches at High Noon. If all goes well, the Waddies (helping hands) will be able to shoot these matches Friday morning so they can run the afternoon matches. This worked out real well last year. The final stage set-up will be Friday evening after the side matches finish. Finally, we can always use some nonshooters to help with little errands during the match, like taking score sheets to the farm house. If you are a new shooter planning on coming out to watch anyway, this is a great way to help out while checking out the action, and is always much appreciated. One topic that has been brought up is the desire to have a Gunfighter class included in our matches. In the past that was discouraged based on safety concerns. There seem to be more and more Duelists that have expressed an interest (and have been trying the weak hand in monthly matches), so let s get together and see what we can come up with after the annual match. The main challenge in Gunfighter is to SAFELY handle both revolvers, duelist-style, at the same time. If you ve never shot Duelist style, or aren t comfortable using your weak hand, Gunfighter is not for you. In addition, Gunfighters cannot use a cross-draw holster (includeing shoulder holsters). It is very easy to accidentally cross one hand with the muzzle of the other pistol during Gunfighter shooting, so this class takes an additional amount of awareness while shooting. This may involve a clinictype of range session to ensure we all know what s expected on the firing line. We just want to make sure we do things safely so everyone can fully enjoy the sport. If you have any ideas about including Gunfighter class at the matches, please feel free to drop me an email at smacd27@msn.com, or look me up at a match. Something to put on your calendar is the Ben Lomand Open House on August 16th. Representatives from all the shooting groups at the club will set up stages for guests to see and try, including Cowboy Action Shooting. Those Shaketails that are BLGC members can complete a lot of the work bond that day by running the Cowboy Stage. We ve ordered factory ammunition so visitors can shoot without the worries of using reloads. Please see Yaro or any of the Town Council if you re able to help. Looking forward to seeing you all at the annual match! STARSHOT #48974 HOTEL FOR SHAKETAIL XIV The New Calhan Inn in Calhan is giving a discount to shooters here for the annual match.
