BSA GBR Events 2018 Races 1 & 2 Chill Factore, Manchester 12 th & 13 th May 2018 Race Bulletin No: 1 - Invitation We invite registered racers to compete in the BSA GBR Event to be held at Chill Factore, Manchester on 12 th & 13 th May 2018. This event is organised by Snowsport Cymru Wales. We would like to thank the management and staff of Chill Factore and all volunteers for their assistance, without whom there would not be a race. The BSA GBR Race Series brings together national domestic races across the UK with race weekends being organised by the Home Nations in England, Scotland and Wales both on indoor and outdoor artificial slopes. For details on the GBR race weekends, events and race rules please visit www.gbski.com The organisers wish to thank the British Ski Academy for their sponsorship of the GBR race series. Entry Criteria and Acceptance There will be 2 GBR races held over the weekend and each is open to racers registered with their respective home nation and meeting the age group categories eligible for seeding for 2018 (born 2006 or earlier). There will also be 2 GBR races for U10/U12. The number of entrants is limited to a maximum of 180. In the event of the race being oversubscribed, acceptance will be determined by seed points using the ibarts list current as at the closing date for entries. Racers with lower seed points will be given preference. It is also intended we run a fun Pro Slalom event on the Saturday 12 th May, this additional event is dependent upon the programme running to time and snow conditions. Entry Fees The entry fee for the GBR Indoor races is 29 per day. On line entry is available via https://entries.snowsportengland.org.uk/ IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO SUBMIT AN ONLINE ENTRY, PLEASE SEND A POSTAL ENTRY AND CHEQUE TO THE RACE SECRETARY BY THE CLOSING DATE AND ADVISE THE RACE SECRETARY BY EMAIL THAT YOU HAVE POSTED YOUR ENTRY. Entries close 7pm 4 th May 2018 Late entries may be accepted at an additional fee of 10.00 per day. Refunds will only be made where medical evidence is provided. Entries will be refunded at 10 per event. Start Order The start order will be drawn at the Jury meeting using the ibarts Seed List. This seed list can be found on the web site www.gbski.com The start lists will be published on www.gbski.com and on the official notice board on the morning of the race.

Programme Saturday 12 th May 2018 GBR Indoor Race 1 (Slalom) The race will be run as a special slalom consisting of 2 runs down two different courses. The first run will be in bib order. The second run will be start with the top 30 in reverse time order from the first run. For u10/u12 the format for the event will be 2 runs through a stubbies course, of which the fastest of the run will count for prizes. This race is open to registered racers in the Under 10 category (YOB 2009-2010) and Under 12 (2007-2008) and will not be seeded. Race Rules / Health & Safety / Drug testing The race will be run in accordance with FIS rules as published in the BACR. Please see www.gbski.com for BACR rules. For further information on series rules and British race rules see www.gbski.com During inspection racers need to wear or carry their bib so that it is visible. This is to show that you are entitled to be in the course area. Inspection on foot by racers is not permissible Helmets must been worn by anyone on skis at all times whilst on the slope. Please also note the helmet rules for competitors can be found at www.gbski.com The U10/U12 course will be run using stubbies and will not be seeded. Gloves and long sleeved garments which also cover the midriff must be worn at all times whilst on the slope, including during open practice, course inspection and the race itself. Awards Overall Awards will be made to 1 st, 2 nd & 3 rd Male & Female racers. Age Group awards will be made to 1 st, 2 nd, 3 rd, 4 th & 5 th Male & Female racers in each age group. Directions & Accommodation DIRECTIONS The Chill Factore is situated next door to Manchester s Trafford Centre, just off Junction 10 of M60 motorway. Please see the map below. Racers without a bib will be asked to leave the slope. Access to the slope is for officials and racers only. Coaches may accompany their racers during course inspection only but must be on skis or blades. Race trainers/coaches who accompany their racers must be qualified and carry the relevant accreditation issued by the race office on the day. Ski preparation is not allowed anywhere inside the Chill Factore Ski boots may be worn on the ground floor only between the slope and the race office area. Racers and officials who wish to go elsewhere in the centre must wear street footwear. Inspection on foot by either racers or coaches is not permissible Racers will be advised of the method of inspection prior to the start of course inspection. In addition please read and abide by the Chill Factore rules as detailed below. Chill Factor e Race Event Rules FAILURE TO ADHERE TO THESE RULES COULD RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION FROM THE RACE. PLEASE COMMUNICATE THESE RULES TO ALL COMPETITORS AND ACCOMPANYING GUESTS. BAGS; All guest bags must be stored in the Anton/Aspen or the Chill Factore Training Room at all times. Any bags left on top of lockers or under benches in the changing village or any kit blocking exits will be removed by Chill Factor e staff and placed in the dedicated storage spaces. Once items of kit or clothing are wet, please refrain from carrying these into the Anton/Aspen conference suite and instead store these either in lockers on the ground floor or in the Training Room. 1.00 coin refundable lockers are available for smaller items of clothing or precious belongings in the Changing Village. TICKETS; Chill Factor e will issue a Race Event tickets to each competitor at bib issue. Chillfactore will print the tickets the day before the event and the race club will pass them on to the event organisers. These tickets MUST be used to gain access to the slope through the airlock doors in the changing village AT ALL TIMES. Manual checks will be taking place throughout the day. Jumping over, climbing past or ducking under the turnstiles is not allowed under any circumstances. This ticket only gives you access to the slope to compete in the races. It does not qualify you to have practice time on the slope. SKIS; Ski s must be stored on the slope, at all times. Race competitors will be given a specific area on the slope to store their skis behind the Poma lifts. Skis, must not, at any time, be left blocking any other snow side activity, any entrances and doorways or fire equipment. Any skis not left in the dedicated spaces for race competitor, will be removed by Chill Factor e staff or event organisers. LIFTS; Race Competitors must only use the right-hand side lift dedicated to the race event. Please use the Poma Lifts in the appropriate manner and please do not swing in and out of the lifts. Anyone seen to be using the lifts in an inappropriate manner, will be asked to leave the slope and disqualified from the competition. SLOPE USAGE; Can race competitors please not use the public side of the slope at any time. Anyone seen using the public side of the slope in race bibs and at race speed will be asked to leave the slope.

CHANGING VILLAGE; The left hand side of the changing village has been the assigned areas for race competitors to get kitted up and ready for the race. Therefore please note the grey benches on the right hand side of the changing village (airlock side) are assigned for other Chill Factor e guests to wait for their activity start time and to be collected by their instructor and cannot be used to wait on. Racers must only use the left hand side of the changing village. Racers can also wait snow side, or in Sports Bar/ Balcony and Anton/Aspen Suite upstairs. 3 changing cubicles will be turned into short term storage for ski s. Please refrain from leaning your ski s against lockers and walls, on the floor or blocking any walkways. Signage will give guidance on the day about where to place your ski s whilst getting kitted up. BIBS; Race bibs issued to each racer must be worn at all times when in the changing village or snow side to ensure they are easily visible. BOOTS AND EQUIPMENT; No wet Ski/ Snowboard boots or Ski s/boards are allowed upstairs at any time. The Chill Factore Training Room on the ground floor will be your dedicated space for the day in storing wet kit and boots. Please use the lockers on the ground floor to store dry shoes and precious belongings. Any other belongings such as coats and kit bags can be stored in the Anton/Aspen Suite on the upper floor, however this space is just for dry clothing or items sealed in waterproof bags. Bags for wet items will be handed out at Bib Issue. It is very important that no wet items or boots are worn into the upstairs floor and into the conference facilities. SPECTATORS; Competitors when not competing and all event spectators, can wait and view the race from Sports Bar, Balconies and sit in the Anton/Aspen space. Please refrain from watching or waiting in any other areas of the business. It is important no fire doors, walkways or shop facades are blocked by spectators watching the race. NO SKATEBOARDS, SCOOTERS OR ROLLERBLADES ON SITE. These are not permitted on the premises or car parks for safety reasons. NO SMOKING (INCLUDING E-CIGARETTES) WITHIN THE BUILDING. There are designated smoking shelters outside the building.
