St Neots HC sponsorship brochure 2015 / 2016 season
About hockey Hockey is the fastest-growing participation sport in the UK. At an international level there is a growing following, and the GB teams are progressing steadily up the rankings, with our women currently ranked 8th internationally and men 5th. In 2012 Hockey was the second best attended event at the London Olympics, creating great opportunities for us. For the first time ever, our GB Womens team made the final of the Champions Trophy, and gained a silver medal ahead of Holland and Germany, losing only to Argentina. St Neots hockey youth academy has doubled in size off the back of the rising profile of this familyoriented sport and children from a wide selection of local schools are having fun building the future of our club. We are affiliated to the England Hockey Board, where we have access to performance coaching as our young hockey players develop their skills. We also offer a hockey after-school club for all Longsands pupils, we participate in the National Under 10, 12 and 14 Competitions, and run a Youth Development Squad as a route for players to progress into our Mens, Ladies, Mixed and (eventually) Veteran teams. We are keen to further build links to the community, and are active in the local press, as well as entering competitions, including at a National Junior level. 2
St Neots hockey club St Neots hockey club has partnered with, and operate from, Longsands Academy in St Neots Cambridgeshire. The club comprises of 5 men s teams and 3 women s teams playing in a variety of East of England leagues. The club s successful academy has attracted over 100 new junior players to the game and is active in local friendly and national competitions. The club is well represented across the region with teams travelling to over 160 games a season in Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire, Bedfordshire, Norfolk, Suffolk, Hertfordshire and Essex. All in a season lasting from September through to April. The club aims to provide community hockey for all whilst inspiring success through ambitious men's and women s 1st teams playing in the East of England top flights. Whilst all members pay to be a part of the club, the top teams inevitably incur additional costs for coaching, travel and kit. It is for this reason that the club is inviting opportunities for local businesses to sponsor the club or individual teams for the coming season. 3
Goals and objectives - 3 year plan The men s first team will play in East league division 3 for the 2015/16 season after missing out on promotion last year. After attracting a number of top recruits and retaining the services of an experienced coach, the team is aiming for promotion to league 2 in the coming season and league 1 by 2018. 4
