Quadrille freestyle Teams of four horses, ponies, or a combination of both, ride a freestyle test to music using dressage elements from an appropriate compulsory level. Creativity and artistic presentation, as well as technical precision are scored. The test is performed in a standard dressage arena (20m X 60m). Whistles may be blown. Horses must enter the arena in single file. Once inside the arena, the team may use a configuration of its choice to come to a halt facing the judge. Tests may be a maximum of six minutes duration. The test will be timed and judged from the move-off of the lead horse or pair, after the initial halt and salute. Timing and judging will cease at the final salute. In case of a tie, the higher score for artistic impression will break the tie. The test used is the United States Dressage Federation 2011 Quadrille freestyle at FIRST LEVEL (copy available on the SDDC website). Any type of music may be selected. Vocals are permitted. Music of one genre, style or theme is recommended.

10. Helper Duties Riders are able to self-help. If riding more than one horse then additional helper duties will be allocated. It is the rider s responsibility to check the list of helper duties that are sent with the draw and to ensure that the helper duty is completed. Helper duties that are not completed will result in the rider being eliminated. Please indicate which duties your helper can perform on the entry form. Please report to the Helper Desk 10 minutes prior to your scheduled helper duty time. 11. Draw The draw will be available on the SDDC website www.sddc.org.au. Organisers will attempt to contact competitors if a change is made after the draw has been posted that affects them but final responsibility is on the competitor to check the draw on the day of the competition. Whilst every attempt will be made to adhere to start times in the draw it is the rider s responsibility to be aware via the Marshall/Gear Checker if an arena is running ahead of schedule. If this does occur you may be asked to ride up to 15 minutes earlier than the draw time. 12. The event will be held in accordance with the current EA Dressage Rules. 13. If complaints are made regarding an unruly dog the Organising Committee may require the dog to be removed from the event. 22. Championship Awards There will be championship awards for non-music tests as well as music tests. There will be no separate championships for ponies (unless more than 5 ponies are entered). Championships will be awarded based on the rider s best two scores in any given level for preliminary through to advanced levels. Competitor non-music championships: Preliminary, Novice, Elementary, Medium, Advanced. Closed Restricted non-music championships: Preparatory, Preliminary, Novice Elementary. To be eligible for non-music Championship awards, riders must also successfully complete (without elimination) one individual freestyle test. Freestyle placings will not count towards championships, the freestyle test must be ridden at the higher level to be eligible to nominate for championships at two levels. For example if you are competing at Preliminary and Novice levels, a freestyle

ridden at Preliminary level will make you eligible for the Preliminary Championship but not Novice, if the freestyle is ridden at Novice level you are eligible to nominate for both Preliminary or Novice. Only one Championship per competitor will be awarded; if the competitor has the highest scores for both levels the higher level will be awarded. Music championship awards will be awarded according to age categories (16 yrs & under, 17-39 yrs, 40 yrs & over), and both Competitor and Closed Restricted riders are eligible to nominate for these awards. These will be determined by combining the two highest scores achieved by a rider in any two music tests including one only individual Freestyle, Pas de Deux and Quadrille. 23. Jennifer el Hassani Perpetual Trophy. This award was introduced in memory of Jennifer el Hassani as an encouragement award for those riders who have left school and are embarking on their professional careers while still competing on their horses. It is open to SDDC riders 18-25 years; either riding Competitor or Closed Restricted classes as a Hi Point Young Riders award, and is based on placings in their best two tests ridden at Novice level and above and includes individual Freestyle. 24. Freestyle Music CDs - It is recommended that you ensure your CD is compatible with the sound system (preferably CD/R) and you bring at least one back up on the day. Please ensure that CD/RW is not used and an appropriate audio file format is used. MP3 format is not compatible. All CD s should be clearly labelled with rider, horse name and class details. CD s must be collected at the event and will not be posted. 25. Officials, ground staff and volunteers - These people are essential to the running of the event. Please treat them with respect. Poor sportsmanship will not be tolerated. Verbal or physical bullying behaviour will be reported to the Organising Committee and disciplinary action will be taken where appropriate. 26. Dressage Development Fund The DDF supports the development and growth of Dressage WA. The fund is pooled from levies paid by riders at competitions. The levy is collected by clubs and sent to Equestrian WA where it is transferred into the DDF account. DWA uses DDF levies to meet all operational costs of running Dressage in this state. This means DWA uses DDF levies to meet all operational costs of running Dressage in WA. Some of DWA s operational costs include compulsory state contribution to the Australian Dressage Championships; all FEI and EA Dressage related fees; state rider and official travel assistance; Dressage Performance Medals; State Team uniform; annual Dressage award and rugs; attendance at National Australian Dressage Committee and judge education meetings; ongoing development of Dressage judges and officials and other related fees and charges applicable to Dressage administration in WA. At the beginning of each calendar year a percentage of the previous year s DDF will be automatically apportioned toward DWA s projected out-going expenses as outlined above. In addition a percentage of the DDF will be assigned and made available for club grants. The percentage of DDF grants available for clubs may vary from year to year and will depend on the previous year s DDF revenue and DWA forward commitments for that year. The decision on the DDF percentage allocation for DWA and for club grants will be made in January of each year after the annual acquittal of the previous year s DDF has been finalised. The dressage rider s representative on DWA will have a significant input into the decision making process along with the DWA Treasurer, Chair and nominated committee members. Clubs may apply for a DDF grant through Dressage WA by 31 st March of each year.
