Specifically, we would like to thank Mrs. Benner, Mrs. Sislian, and all of the class moms. Together, they provided the staff with a week full of warm lunches, delicious breakfast foods, snacks, and of course, a full hour luncheon. We definitely all felt very appreciated and are quite thankful to have such supportive parents.

Page 2 of 6 MAYA SISLIAN AND MELANIE CHEHADE HAVE BEEN FRIENDS SINCE THEY WERE 4 YEARS OLD. THEY MET IN K4. MAYA HAS A LITTLE BROTHER NAMED ADAM WHO IS NOW IN K4. MELANIE HAS A SISTER NAMED VALERIE IN GRADE 6 AND A BROTHER NAMED ZACHARY IN GRADE 1. Kian and Mark have been friends since the fourth grade. They are in Ms.Gervais s grade 5 class. In their spare time, they like to play video games and watch movies. They both like to swim and are trained in karate and they both love Kuper Academy! MAYA AND MELANIE PLAY WITH EACH OTHER ALL THE TIME.THEY ARE VERY HAPPY BECAUSE THEY ARE BOTH IN THE SAME CLASS. Matthew Theodore and Mario Grilli have been friends since Kindergarten. Now they are both in grade 6 with Ms. Krissy. They became friends instantly because they had a lot in common. They both like to play hockey. Their favourite teams are Florida and Boston. They always buy McDonald s together. They have previously worked on an Ethics project together. Together, they like to play different varieties of video games but their favourite game is Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. They are both going to the Kuper High school. Isabelle Miron and Cassandra Baldry have been close friends since they were 3. They met in ballet class. They play hockey and swim together. Cassandra has a brother Harrison and a sister named Mackenzie. Isabelle has 2 brothers, Matthew and Marc, and a sister named Victoria. They are both 10 years old. Page 3 of 6 MALE ATHLETE OF THE MONTH Alexander Gregoire- Kordas is this month s athlete of the month. Alexander is 9 years old and he is in 3R. He has one brother. Alexander plays hockey for Kuper and is on the division 2 team. He also plays hockey for the Vaudreuil Vikings. His jersey number for Kuper is #14 and #13 for Vaudreuil. Alex wants to be like his brother and tryout for the division 1 hockey team. By: Taylor Nix, Andrea Kapusy, Lauren Gale, and Brittanie Murphy FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE MONTH This month, Kristina Syragakis is our player of the month for the girls. Kristina is 8 years old and she has been at Kuper Academy for 6 years. She has one sister and two half sisters. In school, she plays sports ball and Impact soccer. Out of school, she plays soccer for her house league. She enjoys skating and swimming. She has been skating for 4 years and swimming for 5 years. After we interviewed her she said she was very surprised and it feels good to be in the Skupe! Page 4 of 6 Kuper Kodiaks: Girls Division I Basketball Be a good teammate. On behalf of the girls division 1 basketball team, the Skupe committee interviewed Clara Simard about the game. She s number 18 and point guard. In the whole tournament, Clara scored approximately 16 baskets. We won four games which brought us to the Tennis Juniors Six students from Grades 5 and 6, Anna Droppert, Eva Colabatistto, Mark Ghazi, Bryanna Tremblay, Tommy Lane and Matthew Fairest, participated in a Junior Tennis program (2013 Winter finals. Unfortunately, we lost against NDS. It was a real nail bitter. When Clara was playing the game, she felt the adrenaline running through her. Clara says that next time they should work more on their passing. Mr. Forsyth sometimes mentions the girls Session) at the Côte De Liesse Sports Club in Saint-Laurent. The tennis lessons were given by professionals. The Winter Session was 10 weeks in duration and the players participated in one butter fingers. Clara also said that many shots had not gone in and that when you take a shot it s a big moment and you want to get the ball in! Great job girls. You make our school proud! Anna, Eva, Mark, Bryanna, Tommy and Matthew expressed satisfaction with the program and hope to continue in the future. By: Mr. Wilson Land of Fairytales The grade three students are doing a project on fairytales. Basically they draw characters and tell the story with them. They choose their own story like Princess and the Pea, Sleeping Beauty, The Enchanted Pitcher or Little Red Riding Hood. The teachers who are teaching them are Mrs. Perdue Lillie and Ms. Davidson. Page 5 of 6 New Literature for Grade 4 Students At the end of February, the grade fours started a book called Holes. Holes is about a kid named Stanley Yelnats who gets arrested and sent to prison. He has a choice between a camp and staying in a cell. Stanley has never been to camp but would he rather stay in a cell? What will he choose and will he regret it? By: Sarah Klein UPCOMING HOCKEY STAR We are very proud to announce that a Kuper student, Philip Rondina, won the Jean- Pierre Mercier trophy for best goalie in the Atom BB category with his Deux Rives Barracudas BB team at the Verdun Hockey Tournament in February. There were a total of 16 teams participating in the tournament, including teams from Ontario and the U.S. Philip is in grade 3 and is having lots of fun playing Division 2 hockey at Kuper with his classmates. Congratulations and keep up the hard work and dedication! Grade 4: Plasticine Art and Danish Hearts This March the grade fours were working on plasticine projects in art. Plasticine is a type of play dough that never dries out. The students did very well and their work turned out wonderfully. I hope that they are happy with the results. By: Sarah Klein In art, the grade fours are doing Danish hearts. They have different designs such as snowmen, checker boards, and diamonds. They weaved the papers and shaped them into hearts. They are very nice and the students worked very hard on them. By: Diana Maltezos

Page 6 of 6 Teacher of the Month: Ms. Krissy This month, Ms. Landry is teacher of the month. Kristin Landry was born in Sherbrooke, QC and she has a sister and a brother. She loves the outdoors; she likes walking her dogs (Chico and Casey) in forests, skiing, camping, Grade 6 Valedictorian This year, our 9 finalists, Love Mbakadi, Laura Goher, Madison McAleer, Daniel Philips, Jenna Destounis, Fiona Coughlin, Harrison Baldry, Dahlia Klein, and Bryanna Tremblay, presented fabulous speeches to the entire Cycle 3, their parents and teachers, and 3 judges. The Speech Contest of 2013 took place in the Elementary Gym on Tuesday, February 19 th at 8:15. The top three students from each class presented. At the end travelling, and hockey. Her favourite colours are turquoise and lime green. Her favourite fruit is raspberry and she loves Greek food. Her dream is to, one day, travel all of North America in an RV. By: Mehnu Mahapatuna of all the speeches, the winner was Jenna Destounis, our Head- Girl. The judges said it was the closest contest so far and everyone did very well! Congratulations Jenna and the finalists! Next, we will be having our French speech contest in May. Jenna won the Oratorical Award and is also one of this year s Valedictorians who will present another speech during the Grade 6 Graduation Ceremony!
