Residential Courses Learn English We are extremely proud to be accredited by the British Council, and ensure all our English teachers are qualified to CELTA/TEFL level or equivalent. English classes take place on weekday mornings, with students receiving 3.5 hours academic tuition per day and informal tuition throughout the day. Students attend Windermere International Summer School from all over the world and will be mixing with British students who are on other holiday courses. To benefit fully from our programme, we recommend students have knowledge of English to at least an elementary level. Upon arrival, students take a placement test to ensure they are placed in a class of the right ability level. Teachers plan lessons covering a huge range of topics, from home and food to the environment and agriculture. We use many teaching techniques during our lessons to ensure students improve their four main language skills; reading, writing, speaking and listening. Throughout the course, we run academic workshops where teachers gauge student comprehension and adapt the syllabus accordingly to focus on the specific needs of each student. Many of the lessons will tie into the activities and excursions giving a fully immersive approach to learning. 4
