2014 Age Group Championships Main events Sat-Sun 1-2 Feb 2014 Stadium 2000, Blenheim Long distance events Sat 8 Feb 2014 Nayland Pool, Nelson Entries Age as at 1 February 2014. Entries are to be submitted through club recorders only. Entry fees are $7.00 per individual event, except for 800m and 1500m freestyle, which are $10.00 per entry. Relays: no entry fee. Entries may be submitted at meet up to 30 minutes prior to the event. Entries from clubs close Sunday 26 January 2014 at 7pm. Late entries will not be accepted. Entries to be emailed as TM Entries file from club recorders to registrar@snm.org.nz. Payment (one per club please) to SNM bank account: 06-0705-0012255-00 Ref SNM Age Grps/Entryfees Clubs must submit, with entries, 1 named timekeeper or other official for every swimmer entered in the meet (see form on last page). If the requisite number of timekeepers and officials is not supplied, SNM reserves the right to decline some or all of the entries submitted by the club. Rules of the Competition 1. All events will be conducted under SNZ Regulations and FINA Rules, except where noted below. 2. The meet will be swum in a short course (25m) pool, using 8 lanes with semi-automatic timing, except that Session 5 (long distance events) will be swum in a long course (50m) pool. 3. All swimmers must be marshaled, as all events will start promptly, and competitors must be ready when called, otherwise the event will be started without them. 4. Entry to the pool for backstroke events will be feet first; there will be no swim backs. 5. When the whistle is blown prior to the start of each race, there is to be silence and no movement on poolside. 6. The one start rule shall apply. 7. Competitors are to remain in their lane until instructed to leave by the Referee's whistle. While exiting the pool, competitors must swim UNDER the lane ropes and exit at the side of the pool (not the end). 8. Protests must be lodged in accordance with SNZ Regulation 4; the fee shall be $50.00. 9. Visiting swimmers: Swimmers affiliated to a club other than one affiliated to SNM may enter and compete but shall not be eligible to hold any cup or title. Should a visiting swimmer win an event, he or she shall receive a Visitor's medal. If more than two visiting swimmers qualify for the final in any one event, only the top two visiting qualifiers shall contest that final. 10. Age groups and events: Male and Female 9&under: 50m freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly swum as timed finals Male and Female 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15&over: 50m freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly swum as prelims and finals Male and Female 10&under, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15&over: 100m freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly swum as prelims and finals, swum as timed finals Male and Female 12&under, 13, 14, 15&over: 200m free, back, breaststroke and IM swum as timed finals Male and Female 14&under, 15&over: 200m fly, 400m freestyle and 400m IM swum as timed finals Open: 800m freestyle, 1500m freestyle (both mixed: male and female swimmers may enter either event) Time Trial: 100 IM, not scored and not counted towards any trophies or awards, including the Marie Saul.

11. Individual events shall be scored according to rules for the Buchanan Cup. 12. Medals will be presented for first, second and third place in the individual events. Finalist ribbons will be presented to the other finalists (4 TH 8 TH ) to mark their achievement. 13. Relays and Trophies There are four relays in which Clubs can compete: Laurie Crabb Cup: Mixed 15 & Under 600m (12x50m) Medley. Three swimmers (11&U, 13&U, 15&U) to swim each stroke (teams of 12 consisting of 6 boys and 6 girls, 4 in each age group). Each swimmer to swim 50m. Entries submitted at meet (not via Team Manager). Ton Boulton Cup: Women s 4x50m Freestyle Relay. Entries submitted via Team Manager or at meet. Workers Co-op Shield: Men s 4x50m Freestyle Relay. Entries submitted via Team Manager or at meet. Adam and Eve 100m Relay: The 8 fastest males and 8 fastest females in the 50m freestyle are paired 1 st fastest male with 8 th fastest female, 2 nd fastest with 7 th fastest, etc. (irrespective of clubs). Each swimmer swims 50m freestyle. Entries determined by Meet Recorder at meet. The JG Bacon Memorial Cup is an inter-province competition between Nelson and Marlborough: Mixed 400m Medley - 8 swimmers per side, 1 male and 1 female swimmer to each stroke, each swimmer to swim 50m. Entries submitted at meet (not via Team Manager). Club and Individual Trophies* and Cups to be won: J.R. Buchanan Club Points Trophy SNM club with the most points overall. Y.M.C.A. Cup SNM club with highest points in relation to club entries and total entries. Marie Saul Cup Best All swimmer. Each contender s results are compared with the SNM Open Record for the relevant events. The winner is the swimmer with smallest total percentage difference from the Open records across the swimmer s best seven results, which must include all four strokes (200m or 400m IM can count for one stroke). Margaret Young Trophy 10 year old swimmers (1 boy and girl) scoring most points. s eligible for points: 50m and 100m freestyle, fly, back and breast Durrant Family Trophy 12 year old swimmers (1 boy and girl) scoring most points. Pattison Family Cups 14 year old swimmers (1 boy and girl) scoring most points. s eligible for points are the 50m, 100m and 200m freestyle, fly, back and breast; 200m IM; 400m freestyle and IM; 800 freestyle; 1500 freestyle. The 800m and 1500m freestyle are Open events and shall be scored as such. *Swimmers can only score points in their own age groups as described in this flier; no swimming up. N.B. The 100 IM, if swum, shall not count for points or any cup or trophy. Prizegiving: Medals, ribbons and trophies will be presented after Sessions 3 and 4 in Blenheim and after Session 5 at Nayland Pool. SCRATCHING RULES: Once entries have closed, entry fees will only be refunded on presentation of a medical certificate. The Meet Director shall determine the acceptability on all matters where medical reasons or hardship are claimed. Scratching sheets are available from the recorder's table. No reseeding will be done once programmes have been printed. All withdrawals and scratchings must be submitted by club team managers, as follows: For session 1, by 6 pm, Thursday 30 January (by email). For sessions 2-4, withdrawals are to be notified prior to the completion of the preceding session (to Recorder s table). For session 5, by 6 p.m. the day prior to the session, i.e. Friday 7 Feb (by email). Email address: registrar@snm.org.nz For finals, including timed finals, a swimmer who is entered in but does not swim in a final and does not scratch in accordance with these rules will be fined $20. Late withdrawals for medical reasons are subject to approval by the Meet Director. Swimmers are not eligible to enter future SNM meets until fines have been paid.
