Where is the HCYSA website? http://www.kerrvillesoccer.org/ We ve been using this website since Fall 2017 and it is always being updated. We try to put everything that families and coaches may want on the site so it s accessible whenever they need it. Let us know if you can t find something or if it s not user friendly, etc. Encourage your parents to use the website. It should be their first source of information. Parents need to keep their family account up to date. Email is our main source of communication.
What s new? All spring games will be played at the new sports complex. A map of the field layout is posted on the Home page. 5U/6U is playing 3 v 3 5U/6U have a lesson plan Don t park on grass If fields are closed, we will give as much advance notice as possible. What s in the coach packet? Roster, player forms if your name is not on the roster, then you re not a registered volunteer names written at the bottom of some rosters if your position is incorrect, correct it in your account lists your certifications check the medical information box on the player forms Game and concession stand schedules these are also on the Home page and team pages Information from registrar and referee Board members Player evaluation form Division guidelines, Codes of Conduct, Safety and Insurance Equipment, Uniforms
How do I register as a volunteer and coach? You must either be the primary or additional account holder on your family s account. Click Volunteer, Find Volunteer Roles, then Sign Up for the appropriate player. Now you can be attached to the team page. http://www.kerrvillesoccer.org/
What classes do I need to take? Online available on the AYSOU tab, My Courses Safe Haven Concussion Summary of the Laws of the Game Live classes coach certification classes. You must be registered as a volunteer to get credit. Sign up for the class in AYSOU, Live Courses (select date, Sessions for the course you want, then Register for the Kerrville course). What is on the Team Page? Use the team page to communicate with your parents. This can replace phone calls and emails. What is on the Team Page? News Gallery articles that have been posted to team pages from the Home page parents are automatically emailed photos Discussions adding a post will email all team members and allow them to reply directly to the post
What do I do first? Call every player. Set up your first meeting, practice. Contact registrar if you can t contact a player or if a player drops. There are kids on the waiting list. DO NOT play unregistered players. Pick up uniforms and equipment.
When, where do I pick up uniforms and equipment? To avoid having to move all the equipment to the sports complex, uniforms and equipment will be picked up at the old fields. March 26-30 5:00 6:30
When, where can I practice? Our lease with the city begins April 1. All practices during March must be at the old fields. Beginning April 1, practices will be at the sports complex. 5U, 6U, 8U practice will be the first 30 minutes of the published game time additional hour during the week is optional The soccer fields are available Monday-Thursday; no practice permitted at the complex on Fridays Practice on half of a field. Share the fields. Try to avoid practicing in the goal areas to minimize wear and tear Conduct speed ladders and agility drills outside the playing field. Email registrar after you ve decided when your practices are. Note: don t practice on Field 12
Lesson Plan for 5U, 6U This lesson plan contains information pulled from the AYSO coach manuals and Challenger Way. Explains how to coach a young player. Has drills for each week and a routine for each practice session. Keep drills fun, simple, and short. Engage parents.
Challenger Way This is a resource for coaches on the Coaches tab. Create an account, then log in. If you need a password, it s Chall2016. Contains drills with step-by-step instructions, layout of the drill, progression and coaching points. Can print PDF version of the drill. Some drills contain video and/or audio.

Summer Camps HCYSA will host two summer camps this year June 18-22 August 6-10 Both camps will be at the old fields we have trees and shade for parents Sign up online (link on the Home page) or through the mail. Pick up a brochure from the desk on the porch.
What other responsibilities do I have? game card pick up and return each week game cards from refereed games will be returned by the ref weekly notes pick one up with your game card prepare your lineup before the game make sure you are starting all players and playing everyone the same amount of time talk to parents about staying positive during the game and during the ride home make sure players wear shin guards during practices and games communicate with your families
How do I fill out a game card?
Which games will have referees? 5U, 6U, 8U coaches will referee 10U referee will be provided if possible; otherwise, use a coach 12U/13U, 18U - should have referees Assistant referee class Sports Complex April 8 1:00 6:00
Don t forget 5U, 6U 8U 10U use your lesson plan use a kick in, not a throw in no goal keeper use a kick in, not a throw in make sure players know the purpose of the build-out line goal keepers may not punt; they can pass or throw the ball Heading is allowed for players 10 and older. Use a Nerf ball or inflatable ball to teach the skill to avoid repetitive heading of a soccer ball.
Additional Rules and Guidelines NO dogs, smoking or alcohol player benches on one side, parents on the other coaches will use the coach zone; no one behind the goal runaway scores will not be tolerated; play even sided free player drink or popsicle after each game pick up trash at the end of each practice and game
