SCPHA AWARDS Prizes to First Place in Each SCPHA, APHA and AQHA Class Ribbons through 6 th in Each Class Blue ribbons and a special prize for all lead-line exhibitors Daily High Point Award to each of the following divisions: HIGH POINT ADULT AMATEUR: All unrestricted amateur and adult amateur classes to count. Rider must be an SCPHA member. HIGH POINT YOUTH RIDER: All unrestricted youth/amateur and youth classes to count. Rider must be an SCPHA member. HIGH POINT WALK/JOG RIDER: All unrestricted 12 & Under, Rookie and Non-Pro classes to count. Rider must be an SCPHA member. To be eligible for a Daily High Point award, an exhibitor must show in at least three classes in that division. Exhibitor must be a member of SCPHA prior to showing. Points are not retroactive. Points are tabulated on a one horse one rider basis for Daily High Point. In the case of a tie for a High Point Award, the horse earning points in the MOST CLASSES will prevail. If a tie still exists, then the horse with the MOST WINS will win, then the most seconds, and so on. If a tie still exists, then the flip of a coin shall determine the winner. WHAT ELSE SHOULD I KNOW? SCPHA classes are open to All Breeds unless specified otherwise. SCPHA classes are PAC approved. Participants in SCPHA must pay a membership fee PRIOR to showing in order to receive points for High Point or Year End Awards. Points are not retroactive. The SCPHA Board will be evaluating classes after the third show of the season. Classes may be combined or dropped at this time at the discretion of the Board. The judge reserves the right to excuse any horse exhibiting lameness. The judge reserves the right to disallow any equipment or behavior deemed inhumane. There is a minimum of four (4) shows to be eligible for a year end award. All show entries must wear proper attire, i.e., hat, boots, long sleeved shirt, jacket and helmet (English classes) Failure to follow AQHA rules on equipment, tack or attire (unless noted otherwise) may result in disqualification and forfeiture of points. Schooling allowed in Warm-up classes ONLY. In warm up classes, training equipment allowed and entries must wear boots and back number. Trail Warm Up is from set up to the beginning of the trail block and then during Judge s lunch. All exhibitors registered in a trail class or who have paid the pole fee may warm up during these times. We are unable to accept entries into classes after the class has started. Please, no adds or scratches at the gate. Class must be sponsored to be eligible for a year-end award. Class Sponsorships are available for $250 and up. Exhibitors are welcome to secure a sponsor for themselves. Sponsor-ships are tax deductible as advertising. Sponsor Packages are available on our website or at the show booth. LIABILITY RELEASE AGREEMENT I acknowledge that horseback riding is a sport that carries inherent risks of injury and damage to horse, property and my self. I knowingly assume all risks, whether known or unknown, of horseback riding or the handling of horses. I hereby release the Southern California Professional Horseshow Association (Hereafter referred to as SCPHA) from all liability for any act of negligence or want of ordinary care on the part of SCPHA and or any of its agents. In consideration of my participation in events organized or sponsored by SCPHA I waive, release, and discharge SCPHA and their directors, officers, agents and members, their representatives, heirs, executors and assigns from any and all claims of liability for injury or damage to myself, my animals, or my property arising out of my participation in SCPHA events. This agreement is binding upon my executors, heirs, and assigns. I expressly waive any right I may have under California Civil Code 1542 which states: A general release does not extend to claims which the creditor does not know or suspect to exist in his favor at the time of executing this release, which if know by him might have materially affected his settlement with the debtor. I agree that I will indemnify and hold harmless SCPHA and their officers, directors, members, and agents against all claims, demands, and causes of action, including court costs, and actual attorney fees, arising from any proceeding or lawsuits brought by or prosecuted for my benefit, in which the release is upheld. SCPHA, its agents or employees shall not be liable for any damage, which may accrue from any cause or as a result of fire, theft, running away, state of health, injury to person, horse or property. By participating in SCPHA shows, I agree to the terms of this release.

DEFINITIONS ALL DAY CLASS FEE: Regular class fees will be $15 per class through the 5 th class, at which time the All Day Class Fee takes effect with a maximum fee of $105.00. Regular class fees after the 5th class are waived based on one horse/one rider. Warm Up, Pole Fee, PCHA, APHA, and AQHA classes are NOT included. SCPHA MEDAL CLASS: Entries in this class are limited to Non-Pro riders. Each entry will be required to execute an individual pattern that will be designed to show the rider s ability at basic horsemanship. RIDER MUST COMPETE IN YOUTH OR ADULT AMATEUR HORSEMANSHIP IN AT LEAST THREE (3) SHOWS TO QUALIFY FOR THE FINALS, WHICH WILL BE HELD AT THE LAST SHOW OF THE SEASON. Winner of the finals to receive the Perpetual Trophy. ANY CLASS RESTRICTED BY BREED: Open to any horse that qualifies to be registered with the association governing that breed. (example: Quarter Horse Class entries must be registered with the AMERICAN QUARTER HORSE ASSOCIATION of Amarillo, TX.) Show management has the right to demand inspection of registration certificates. For all classes that are for AQHA points, entries must include copies of AQHA Registration Papers, AQHA Membership Cards, and proof of ROM (if applicable) upon registration. SPECIALTY CLASSES Open to horses that are Arab, ½ Arab, Morgan, Andalusian, Paso Fino and other gaited breeds. SHOW DIVISIONS: English, Reining/Ranch, Western, & Trail SCPHA ROOKIE: Describes a horse or rider in their first or second year of showing (has not shown prior to 1/1/17). Horses will show at the walk and jog only. Rookie entries may not cross over to classes requiring the lope. GREEN: Any horses or rider who has never shown in this class AT ANY SHOW recognized for points by any horse show association or breed or color organization (except for futurities, walk-jog/trot or rookie classes) for more than two years in that Division. (example: A horse is green in 2018 if it has not shown prior to 1/1/17.) Must be in its first or second year of showing at the lope/canter in that show Division. WALK-JOG/TROT CLASSES: Classes are included in the show format that requires the horse to show at the walk and jog or trot only. Cross entering to classes that may call for the lope or canter is permitted, if the competitor meets the other requirements of the class (i.e.: daughter shows in W/J while Trainer show in lope classes). Additionally, a rider may jog/trot in one show division, while choosing to lope/canter in another show division (i.e.: English division vs. Western or Trail division). Can be Rookie for (2) two years, while Non-Pro Walk/Joggers may continue forever! JR HORSE: Any horse that is 5 years old or younger January 1 st of the show year. SR HORSE: Any horse that is 6 years old or older January 1 st of the show year. 12& UNDER: Any rider that is 12 years old or younger January 1 st of the show year. This division is included to encourage young riders and provide them with a variety of classes in which to participate. Western or English attire is acceptable. Horses will show at a walk and jog/trot only. 12 & Under horse/rider combination may NOT cross enter into ANY class that requires loping. EXCEPTION: Exhibitors who show in 12 & Under showmanship may opt to show under saddle in 12 & Under OR regular Youth classes, but not both. YOUTH: Any rider that is 18 years old or younger January 1 st of the show year. Youth classes MAY further be divided into ages groups such as: 12 and under; 13-18; or 18 and under. ADULT AMATEUR: Any rider, 19 years and older as of January 1 st of the show year, who derives NO income from the training of horses or the instruction of riders. NON-PRO: Any rider of any age, whether youth or amateur, who derives NO income from training horses and/or the instruction of riders. Eligible to be voted in to a vacancy on the SCPHA Board of Directors after they have served on a Committee for at least 1 year. OPEN: Any rider or any horse may participate in a class designated as open. PROFESSIONAL MEMBER: Any person who derives compensation of any kind from the training of horses and/or instruction of riders. Many Perpetual Awards also available. See www.scpha.net for more info.
