4-H Halloween Party offers fun, food and pumpkin and costume contest competition The winners seen above are Haley Springs, Casey Owens, Regan Varnes, Libby Hagan, Sabrina Brice and Misti Brice. Published Oct. 19, 2016 @ 9:47 p.m. On the Leisure Page of HardisonInk.com All Photos By Jeff M. Hardison BRONSON Once again the Levy County 4-H Halloween Party provided opportunities for children and adults to have fun, eat food and enjoy festivities on Monday evening (Oct. 17). This year's 4-H Halloween Party had 127 in attendance. There were 102 people who enjoyed a pork plate dinner with side dishes. Seven 4-H clubs had activity booths set up for all who visited, and the Kountry Kids 4-H Club served the buffet. Adult volunteer Tommy Wolfe poses under an inflatible cat that was used as a decoration at the party. There were two pumpkin contests - carved and decorated. There was a costume contest as well. Both of those aspects reflected awesome local talent. Children also enjoyed playing games, eating a meal of barbecued pulled pork with all of the trimmings, receiving candy and more.

There were 102 people who enjoyed a pork plate dinner with side dishes. Seven 4-H clubs had activity booths set up for all who visited, and the Kountry Kids 4-H Club served the buffet. There was even a cakewalk, where the children participated for free and win cakes and that winning was as easy as a cakewalk. The costume contest was a big hit too. Adult volunteer Tommy Wolfe and Acting Extension Director Wilbur Dean are seen near the entrance to the party area. Michael Owens (as the wolf) and Clara Owens as Little Red Riding Hood enjoy the party (not seen in the photo is Fawn Owens, another member of the family).

Ten Cloverbuds entered the costume contest this year and all 10 of them won participation awards. Many of the Cloverbuds who participated are seen here. Earlier in the evening, they were all completely outfitted in costumes. This picture is later in the party time. Yes, there is a unicorn on the far right of the photo. The winners of the 2016 4-H Costume Contest were Juniors Casey Owens of Outdoor Adventures 4-H and Haley Springs of Bridle Brigade, Intermediate division winners were Libby Hagan of the STEM club and Regan Varnes of Kountry Bumpkins. Sabrina Brice and Misti Brice of Outdoor Adventures won in the senior division of the costume contest. The team winners were Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf (Clara and Michael Owens) from the Outdoor Adventures Club. Special thanks to all the club members, leaders, volunteers and extension staff that made this a great and successful event. If you would like more information on 4-H Clubs and activities, please call 352-486-5131.

Sabrina Brice strikes a pose as she narrowly escapes from a dinosaur. Her Jurassic Park costume and the makeup work showing claw and fang marks were outstanding. Sabrina Brice (left) stands with the makeup artist -- Jade Plante, 16, of Morriston -- who created the wounds left by dinosaurs.

Heather Brice joins Nathaniel Fussell as they arrive at the party in their costumes -- reflecting that they are tourists.
