North jumped out to an early 6-0 lead but the Legends came right back to take a 20-12 half time lead. North scored twice in the 3rd quarter to take a 26-20 lead but Jason Mansell broke a 30 yard scramble on third and long to set up a 1 yard TD run by Gianluca Fulciniti to put the Legends up for good. Lancaster overcame many players having the flu this week and Shawn Davis missed the game due to a high fever. David Gaca was taken to the hospital by ambulance post game due to severe dehydration but bounced back and was able to play week # 4 vs Clarence. After scoring the jumping ahead 31-8 late in the 3rd quarter, Lancaster had to hold on for a nine point victory. Clarence scored 14 points in the fourth quarter and almost recovered an onside kick to make fans at Foyle Kling Field a bit uneasy. After back a forth first half, Lancaster was stopped on Bennett s one yard line on the last play of the first half which made the half time score 21-16 Lancaster. Bennett s D Jae Perry ran wild in the 2nd half scoring 3 TD s, finishing the day with 246 yards on the ground. Lancaster s defense was humbled and had no answers for Bennett s offensive attack this day. This was Lancaster s first loss to a section VI opponent since 2015 and was Coach Rupp s first loss in the section since he took over as head coach in 2016. The Legends came out quickly with a 17 yard TD pass from Jason Mansell to Shawn Davis less than two minutes into the game. After going up 14-0 on a one yard run by Gianluca Fulciniti, Will North scored 21 points to take the lead 21-20. The Legends Response those Events helped determine the Outcome they wanted. Shawn Davis caught a critical 3rd and 11 pass from Jason Mansell to keep the game winning drive alive and the Blackshirt Defense stopped the Spartans to end the game. The 2018 the Aquinas offense proved to be too much for the Legends over the course of the game. As a private school that recruits all of Section V, Aquinas showed it is tough for public schools to compete with a different set of rules. Aquinas went on to beat Cicero North Syracuse and New Rochelle to win the 2018 Public School Championship at the Carrier Dome.
