Question Response Details Rigging type/position Rope clutches position and manufacturer Lining of ropes Winches position/numbers/manufacturere/type Main sheet with traveler Toprigging two backstays and a baby stag. The chainplate of the double shrouds is located on the outer side of the side deck. Well positioned in the front of the cockpit. Rope clutches and cleats: Spinlock. Conduction of the ropes from the mast to the cockpit is well organised and integrated into the deck. Possible Sea water is well drained. A minor inconvenience is that excess rope of a line, such as a jib sheet placed on one of the rear winches, can slide on the cockpit floor up to the feet of the skipper. The winches are well positioned. The rear winches are located between the two steering wheels and are therefore easily accessible for the skipper. Manufacturer Winches: Harken. Winches Type: 2x46 (2 speed) and 2x60 (2speed) in the aft of the cockpit. positioned on a spoiler Data engine(s), propulsion and steeringmechanism Manufacturer engine(s) Yanmar Type/model engines 75 HP SD POD 120 Horsepower engine (pk) 75 Type of fuel Type propulsion Manufacturer/type/model drive (saildrive) Steeringmechanism (rudder) Engine remote controle Engine is easy accessible for maintenance Standard build-in fuel reservoir Fuelcapacity (liter) Material fuelreservoir diesel saildrive ZF POD (docking system) double steeringwheel elektronical 400 (standard) + 200 (optional) rvs Specific parameters deck dek-layout Finishing deck surface innovative and original Under the spray hood are two cozy chairs with cushions. Finishing of the deck is standard gelcoat. The sloped edge near the side deck, besides the sprayhood, can be dangerous when you pass by. The handles on the deck are not built in like we see on the Sense models, but this offers more space below deck and it is not a problem for the movement on board. Page 5

Data impression Sea Trial Question Response Details Seating position captain N/A Minimal number of people to sail this boat 2 Directional stability and steering control Easy and straight steering boat even at large angles Operation and accessibility winches, lines and vang good operation but layout is not optimal Registered: true wind speed (kts) / true wind angle ( ) / ground speed (kts) Max speed on engine (kts) Position throttle Noise emission engine Stopping distance at 5 knots speed TWS (kts) / TWA ( ) / boatspeed (kts) 20 / 50 / 8,8 28 / 60 / 9,7 25 / 70 / 11 26 / 90 / 12 The 75 hp engine provides enough power to reach more than 7 knots. The stopping distance, from 5 knots to a standstill, is okay and is shorter than the boat length. very good not annoying excellent Special remarks and comment Plus points Minus points Design + Sunbeds under the spray hood + Folding cockpit table with handles and storage + Spacious living room + Seat position in the aft of the cockpit over the entire width + Very good walkable stairs + Multiple cabin layouts possible (3 to max 5) - Mobility on deck not optimal - Accessibility gas bottle - Complex system to create an extra seat in the salon - The two handle bars near the stairs are not pretty The Oceanis 55 follows the line of the new Oceanis earlier series. The deklayout is unique with its new features, including two sun beds under the spray hood. The rectangular portholes and stretched out window on the upper deck give the Oceanis 55 a modern look. The right angles are also reflected in the interior. This silhouette of lines is also to be found in the shape of the hull. Page 7
Question Response Details Stay on board Finishing and quality Performance The wide stern creates a large cockpit where you can relax during your sailing trip or when you are in a harbor. The seating position for the skipper is rather Spartan. A plus point is the swimming platform that can be folded to a seating position. Below deck we see a spacious living room. In the new Oceanis 55 we recognize no traditional charter boat. The new Oceanis has the character of a luxury cruiser, as we see in the Sense models The finish is superb and the quality of materials is excellent for a model series that can be purchased as a charter boat. A nice detail on our test boat are the white steering wheels that are made of fiberglass (GRP) instead of stainless steel. Opening and closing of the covers of the storage spaces in the cockpit was not as smooth, despite the existing gas springs. The Oceanis 55 behaves during our test as a real globetrotter. The shape of the hull and the double rudder provides optimal steering effect and ensures that the boat is reliable even in heavy seastate. On downwind we hear somtimes a vibrating noise coming from the rudders, but this is not really a problem. The Oceanis is very easy to sail when your sails are properly trimmed. Even when we release the steering wheel the boat remains on course.
