Team Managers and coaches: Federation Team Information Please note the following information. Detailed info will be given at the Managers meeting. Please note the following: - Participant information: o Practice gym (San Diego High School Gym second floor) is located across street from championship gym (Harry West Gym). ONLY use cross- walk when crossing street andwalking to/from the gyms Do NOT leave valuables or kendo equipment at practice gym Slippers/sandals/zori are recommended to bring for use outside do not use bare feet Practice gym use (Championship gym not avail for practice): o Thurs- Reservation only o Fri- Sun (6am- 3pm) Free use o Due to limited space in bleachers, the SUB- GYM located next to the Harry West Gym in for storage of equipment bags (do not leave wallets or other valuables) is recommended o Dressing rooms are not available, restrooms may be used, however competitors should come in kendo- gi to the gym site! Friday opening ceremony: All federation members will participate in kendo- gi and dogu. Managers and coaches may wear uniform, suit, or jersey. Senior division members who are also referees, should march in with kendo- gi and dogu. More instructions will be given at manager s meeting. o All official federation team members/manager/coaches must wear ID cards when not participating in shiai o Gym tournament area is restricted to official competitors/manager/coaches only. o Photographers must request press pass for competition area (restricted to outer areas only). Passes are limited. o Competition area is limited, excess numbers of non- participating competitors will not be allowed in court areas.
- - o All time limits for individual and team matches are 4 minutes, only FINALS will be 5 minutes. Details on encho wiil be given at managers meeting. o Shinai check- in will only be for those competing on the particular day of competition. o Any concussion injury will be taken seriously. If determined that a concussion has occurred by medical staff, it will be recommended that the competitor will not be allowed to continue without further examination. Further info will be distributed regarding this. Managers, Coaches, Referees, and Parents should see the following website: http://www.cdc.gov/concussion/pdf/parents_fact_sheet- a.pdf! The Center for Disease Control offers more information at: www.cdc.gov/concussion.! Certified Athletic Trainers will be on duty. They are licensed and fully aware of concussion injuries. Referees and coaches should immediately refer to them in case of any head injury during the shiai.! Kendo sensei who are M.D. s have been requested to assist if the need arises o Liquids: Only capped sports bottles are allowed on gym floor. Food and open beverages are limited to the bleachers and other non- gym floor areas. o Vendors: Kendo equipment vendors are located on the Mezzanine level of the gym o Parking at the venue is limited.
