Warnings Warnings The following warnings are for the setup, use, grounding, maintenance, and repair of this equipment. The exclamation point symbol alerts you to a general warning and the hazard symbols refer to procedure-specific risks. When these symbols appear in the body of this manual or on warning labels, refer back to these Warnings. Product-specific hazard symbols and warnings not covered in this section may appear throughout the body of this manual where applicable. WARNING SKIN INJECTION HAZARD High-pressure fluid from dispense valve, hose leaks, or ruptured components will pierce skin. This may look like just a cut, but it is a serious injury that can result in amputation. Get immediate surgical treatment. Do not point dispense valve at anyone or at any part of the body. Do not put your hand over the end of the dispense nozzle. Do not stop or deflect leaks with your hand, body, glove, or rag. Follow Pressure Relief Procedure in this manual, when you stop spraying and before cleaning, checking, or servicing equipment. Tighten all fluid connections before operating the equipment. Check hoses, tubes, and couplings daily. Replace worn or damaged parts immediately. MOVING PARTS HAZARD Moving parts can pinch or amputate fingers and other body parts. Keep clear of moving parts. Do not operate equipment with protective guards or covers removed. Pressurized equipment can start without warning. Before checking, moving, or servicing equipment, follow the Pressure Relief Procedure in this manual. Disconnect power or air supply. 2 332143A
Operation Operation Pressure Relief Procedure Follow the Pressure Relief Procedure whenever you see this symbol. Instructions This equipment stays pressurized until pressure is manually relieved. To help prevent serious injury from pressurized fluid, such as skin injection, splashing fluid and moving parts, follow the Pressure Relief Procedure when you stop spraying and before cleaning, checking, or servicing the equipment. 1. Close the supply pump s bleed-type master air valve (required for pneumatic systems). 2. Open the dispensing valve until pressure is fully relieved. 3. Open the fluid valve at the pump fluid outlet. Leave the drain valve open until you are ready to use the system again. If you suspect that the dispensing valve, extension, or grease fitting coupler is clogged, or that pressure has not been fully relieved after you have followed the steps above, very slowly loosen the coupler or hose end coupling to relieve the pressure gradually, then loosen it completely. Then clear the clog. Disassembly 1. Relieve pressure, see Pressure Relief Procedure above. 2. Remove Series 500 hose reel from service. If you are unsure of how to do this, see the Series 500 instruction manual 308109 for these instructions. NOTE: Throughout these instructions, parts that are reused for the new hose reel installation and not included in this kit, are identified using alpha characters (a-s). 3. Remove the following parts from the Series 500 hose reel to reuse on the new hose reel installation. Hose reel enclosures (a) and screws (b). Roller bracket (c) 4. Mount new XD hose reel (d) on base adapter (15) using bolts (14) included in kit. (FIG. 1) d 14 15 FIG. 1 332143A 3
Operation 5. Secure spool against pedestal with C-Clamp (t) (FIG. 2). Never allow the reel to spin freely. Doing so causes the hose reel to spin out of control, which could cause serious injury if you are hit by the hose or other moving parts. k m n TI14771 FIG. 4 8. Remove screw (p), pawl (q), bushing (r), and spring (s) from guide arm (m). Keep parts q, r, and s for reassembly (FIG. 5). t s FIG. 2 TI13184 m 6. Remove hose stop (h) from end of hose. Set these parts aside to reinstall after installation (FIG. 3). q p FIG. 5 r TI1477 h 9. Remove nuts (k) securing support arm (p) and remove support arm (p). These parts will not be reused. (FIG. 6) k FIG. 3 TI14770 7. Remove nuts (k) securing guide arm (m) to reel pedestal (n) (FIG. 4) and remove guide arm. These parts will not be reused. p k FIG. 6 4 332143A
Reassembly Reassembly Use all new parts included in this kit to replace existing equivalent parts on hose reel. Discard replaced parts. Unless otherwise noted, see FIG. 8, page 6 for these instructions. 1. Install pawl (q), bushing (r) and spring (s) on guide arm (1) using washers (5), bolt (6), washer (8) and nut (7). See FIG. 8 for the correct orientation of these parts. Hand tighten securely. TI13398 Incorrect 2. Slide screw (13) through end of spring (s). Install screw through hole in base (1). Secure this assembly to base (1) using nut (11) and washer (12). Hand tighten securely. 3. Install new guide arm (1) to pedestal (n) using nuts (9). Hand tighten securely. Correct 4. Install hose guide bracket c) to guide arm (1) using screws (4) and nuts (3). NOTE: Check pawl to make sure it is not wedged (see FIG. 7). TI13399 5.
