Centreboard Yachts, Radio Controlled Yachts, and Dragon Boats: Sailing Instructions will be available at respective Briefings. Tugboat and Classic Launch Race entrants: Race and Safety Instructions will be forwarded on receipt of entry. HIGH Tide: Waitemata Harbour - 1415hrs (3.3m) 1.0 Rules 1.1 The Auckland Anniversary Day Regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing 2017-2020. Attention is drawn to Regulation No.2 and clause 2.2 Yachting New Zealand (YNZ) Safety Regulations: The Maritime Transport Act 1994 states that the master of the vessel is at all times responsible for the safety of the vessel, the safety of those on board, discipline on board and for complying with all maritime rules, regulations and bylaws. 1.2 The YNZ Safety Regulations Part I shall apply to unballasted centreboard boats, open boats and sailboards. 1.3 The YNZ Safety Regulations Part II Category 5 shall apply to keelboats and multihulls with the exception of the Passage Races where Category 4 shall apply. 1.4 The YNZ Safety Regulations Part V Category C shall apply to trailer yachts. 1.5 The YNZ Safety Regulations Part VI Category B shall apply to sports boats. 1.6 Appendix E shall apply to Radio Controlled boats entered in 17.8 1.7 The Racing Rules of Auckland Dragon Boating shall apply to Dragon Boats. 1.8 Waka entrants shall provide a Safety Boat for Waitemata Harbour events. 1.9 The NKOA New Zealand Rules for Waka Ama racing shall apply to Waka Ama and Waka Hourua. 1.10 Tall Ships and Waka to comply with Maritime NZ Rules and Regulations. 1.11 Should there be any conflict between the Notice of Race and these Sailing Instructions, the Sailing Instructions shall prevail. This amends RRS Rule 63.7 2.0 Changes to Sailing Instructions Any changes to the rules will be set out in the Sailing Instructions applicable to the venue hosting an event. 3.0 Race Pennants All keelboat, multihulls over 6m & trailer yacht competitors shall fly a backstay divisional race pennant as listed. 4.0 Eligibility and Entry 4.1 The regatta is open to boats that comply with Clause 1.0 Rules 4.2 Measurement certificates should be available if requested. 4.3 Passage Races are open to keelboats and trailer yachts that either tow a dinghy or have a dinghy on the deck or across the transom. Inflatable dinghies must be inflated. 4.4 Keelboats may use extras except for those competing in Passage Races in Divisions H1, M1 & R1.

5.0 Race Areas The races will be held in the Hauraki Gulf, the Waitemata and Viaduct Harbours and Westhaven Marina. 6.0 Fairway Marks please read Fairway Marks carefully In all races, unless otherwise specified for any particular race or races, the following shall be deemed to be obstructions to sea room and boats shall pass on the channel side only: (a) West of Rangitoto Lighted Beacon. (c) North of Browns Island Beacon. (e) North of Orakei Sewer Beacon. (g) North of Red Buoys on eastern side of Motuihe Channel (i) East of Lighted Buoy in Whangaparoa Passage. (b) South of Iliomana Rock Beacon. (d) North of Doris Rock Beacon. (f) South of Emu Rock Beacon - off Motutapu. (h) South of Inner Sandspit Beacon-Torpedo Bay (j) South of Devonport Cable Beacons. N.B. Prohibited areas: Boats while racing shall not sail within designated mooring areas. 7.0 Centreboard Courses The courses will be as described by the host club sailing instructions for all centreboard races 8.0 Penalty System RRS Rule 44 shall apply for all boats. Appendix P may also apply. 9.0 Time Limit The time limit for all races shall be 1700 hrs. 10.0 Protests Protests must be lodged with the AAR Committee, on 021 818 448 or 021 652 101, no later than two hours after the last boat in the race finishes (Rule 61.3) on Monday 28 January 2019. Any protests will take place at the Royal NZ Yacht Squadron at 1800hrs on Tuesday 29 January 2019, unless otherwise notified. 11.0 Scoring 11.1 The Low Points Scoring System of Appendix A will apply. 11.2 Handicaps will be calculated using handicaps set by the AARC with the assistance of Class handicappers, the New Zealand Trailer Yacht Association and YNZ PHRF systems. 11.3 No score will be excluded. This changes A2. 12.0 Safety Regulations Any yacht withdrawing from a race for any reason MUST notify Race Control on either: VHF channel 4 or mobiles: 021 818 448, 021 652 101 13.0 Emergency & Distress Calls Requests for assistance are to comply with international calling formats and direction, as follows: - Distress & Emergency Calls: Prompt Vessel or Medical assistance: VHF channel 16 (Coastguard Northern Region) VHF channel 64 for inner Harbour VHF channel 60 for the outer Gulf Mobile: *500 14.0 Race Control Race Control call sign Anniversary Control may be contacted on VHF channel 4 or on mobiles: 021 818 448, 021 652 101. Please use the name of the area -e.g. Auckland, Mahurangi, Kawau or Rakino Anniversary Control

15.0 Results Any results appearing on the Auckland Anniversary Regatta website shall be provisional only (subject to the hearing of any protests) until confirmed as final. Results will be available for inspection at participating yacht clubs as soon as possible, and on the AAR website: www.regatta.org.nz 16.0 Prizes 16.1 Trophies and prizes will be presented at the Official Prizegiving, 1900hrs on Tuesday 19 February 2019 at the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron, Westhaven. Skippers must be present to collect spot prizes. Skippers must be present to claim cash prizes unless residing 50km from the Royal NZ Yacht Squadron and unable to attend the Prizegiving. These prizes will be transferred online to the winning skipper s bank account on receipt of the account no. 16.2 Waitemata Harbour Races Class Prizes: Additional prizes will be awarded to classes with a minimum of 5 or more entries. 17.0 Schedule of Events Please be aware: there will be a drone operating and filming the Regatta 17.1 Dragon Boat Racing Viaduct Harbour Briefing: 0900hrs 17.2 Waitemata Harbour Race - Tugboats Warning Signal: 0955hrs Race Start: 0930hrs Race Start: 1000hrs Course: A line between the North East corner of Captain Cook Wharf and the committee boat on station approximately 500m to the North. Distance: 7.5nm 17.5 Centreboard Races: Waitemata Harbour Sailing Instructions will be provided on the day Narrow Neck Beach - Sea Scout Cutters, Navy Crown and Sunbursts Registration: 0845hrs Briefing: 0900hrs Event Start: 0945hrs Registration & Briefing will be at Narrow Neck (by the boat ramp at the southern end of the beach). Subject to the weather on the day this may be a multi discipline event involving both rowing and sailing. The intended course will likely take us via Bean Rock and North Head with lunch at Devonport, returning to Narrow Neck around 1600hrs. Should the weather be unsuitable on the harbour on the day, the meeting place will be Narrow Neck at 0845hrs and details of an alternative venue will be agreed by all, likely Lake Pupuke. Passage Races Passage races are open to all keel and trailer yachts in cruising trim returning from a genuine weekend cruise in the respective areas towing or carrying a dinghy on deck or across the transom. With the exception of Reactors who must tow a dinghy. Inflatable dinghies are to be carried in the inflated state. Keelers may use extras unless otherwise stated. Instructions applicable to Events 17.6, 17.7, 17.8 and 17.9. AFTER THE WARNING SIGNAL FOR THE EVENT, YACHTS RANKING AS STARTERS SHALL SAIL CLOSE TO THE COMMIT- TEE BOAT, HAIL THEIR SAIL NUMBER AND RECEIVE ACKNOWLEDGEMENT 17.6 H28 Mahurangi to Northern Leading Passage Race Warning Signal Start Class Warning Flag/ Pennant Division H1 0855 0900hrs H28 White A line from the flagstaff displaying an AARC Flag on the committee boat to a laid mark. Finish in a southerly direction between Northern Leading Yellow Buoy (P) and Red Channel Marker No.14 (S) on a transit from that Marker to Green Channel Marker No.13 to the west. By starting in the regatta each competitor agrees that Auckland Anniversary Regatta Inc., its officers, members, servants and agents accept no responsibility in respect of any loss to person or property, which may be sustained as a result of or by reason of participation or intended participation in the Auckland Anniversary Regatta, or howsoever one is in connection therewith. Each competitor accepts that by starting in the regatta he/she agrees to indemnify and all of organisation in respect of any claim or demand of whatever nature, which may be made upon them in connection with or as a result of the participation or intended participation by that competitor in the regatta.
