SLSNSW 2015 State Championships details Friday 6, Saturday 7 March and Sunday 8 March 2015 Ocean Beach and Umina SLSC For u9-u14 competition proficient nippers (u14 need SRC) The SLSNSW State Championships is the state s premier surf event, attracting more than 8000 competitors from all over the NSW along with 600 volunteer officials and up to 15,000 family and spectators. An event program will be available at a later date the competition is held over three full days. It requires nippers have the Friday off school. Wanda Nippers at State Each year, Wanda Nippers takes a large squad to the SLSNSW Championships. At Wanda our squad consists of: any u14 nipper who would like to attend (open invitation) - must hold SRC selected competition proficient u9-u13 nippers. The Wanda Nippers selection committee chooses nippers according to merit, as the Championships are competitive. Events / participation Individual events u9-u10 flags, sprint, swim, board u11-u12 flags, sprint, swim, board, ironperson u13-u14 - flags, sprint, swim, board, ironperson, surf board riding Due to the demands of the Championships schedule, all nippers elect to compete in either beach or water events only at State (see application form) Team events There are a range of team events at State (eg. relays, board rescue, cameron etc). Selection of Wanda nippers teams for these events will be done by the Wanda Nippers selection committee in 2015. Championships entry Once you complete the application (attached) and make payment, entries are done on your behalf by Carnivals Coordinator Julie-Anne Warn. You don t need to enter.
Cost - $100 per child This includes: Carnival entry fee Wanda Nippers team uniform (pictured left) o hoodie o singlet o shorts o cap, lanyard and waterbottle. Uniform extras are available for an additional cost (see picture below left) Uniform try-on and payment days Tuesday 25 November - at Nippers board training, Gunnamatta Bay HALL, 4-6pm OR Sunday 30 November - at Nippers, which will be at Gunnamatta Bay this day Full payment must be made on either of these days, as the uniform order will be placed on 1 December. Accommodation and travel Accommodation and travel arrangements need to be made individually by each family. Talk to other families in your age group about where they are staying and get a group together. We encourage you to book ASAP. Uniform distribution Uniforms will be handed out at a team meeting to be scheduled prior to the State Champs in late February. There can be no refunds or exchange on uniforms, so it is the parent/guardian responsibility to provide the correct sizing. Parent volunteers Organising the team for the State Championships is a big job. Wanda Nippers will be expected to provide a strict ratio of volunteers to competitors, and it s only fair this load is shared. Jobs include water safety; IRB crew; officials; setup and pack up of age group tents daily; transporting gear; age managers and assistants: committee, coaches and other volunteers. On the application form attached, please indicate how you will be helping. Sydney Branch Carnival - Sunday 15 February 2015 The Sydney Branch Championships is a compulsory carnival for any nipper in the State squad.
