The two squads split a four game series to begin the season. Cedar Rapids took the first and fourth, while the LumberKings swept a doubleheader on 4/5/14. Cedar Rapids snapped a three-game losing streak last night with their 6-1 win over Clinton. Meanwhile, Clinton has now lost three straight games and is under.500 at 9-10. Felix Jorge. The Kernels right-hander has made four appearances three being starts in 2014. Jorge last pitched at home against West Michigan and pitched into the fifth inning before departing with two outs. Jorge allowed five runs (three earned) on seven hits and three walks. He also allowed three home runs and has allowed a team high four home runs this season in 13.2 innings. Get Em Early.Clinton has won eight of 11 games when scoring first. Against Bowling Green, they scored first in all three games. After a cold stretch in Dayton where the offense scored just seven runs in three games, the bats busted out for 23 runs in the set vs. the Hot Rods. In Monday s series opener against Quad Cities, Clinton won when scoring second for the first time in 2014. Fields demoted.arby Fields was sent back to extended spring training following a rough nine games at the Low-A level. The former dual sport athlete in college hit just.071 (2x28) in 9 games with the LumberKings. Say it ain t Joe Joe DeCarlo struck out to end the game vs. Quad Cities on Wednesday night. Of the LumberKings 10 losses, DeCarlo has been the man at the plate to record the final out five times, four of which by strikeout. Campbell is Human.Through his first three starts, Eddie Campbell did not allow any runs. Spanning 14.1 innings, the southpaw flirted with danger, many times escaping with multiple runners on base. Yesterday, the baseball God s finally caught up with Campbell. The left-hander lasted 3.1 innings for the second time at home, allowing seven runs (six earned) on seven hits and three walks. Campbell took the loss and saw his ERA jump from 0.00 to 3.06 after the rough go. They Returned.Five players who donned a LumberKings uniform at some point in 2013 are back with the team. They include catcher Marcus Littlewood, infielders Martin Peguero and Zach Shank, and pitchers Blake Holovach and Mark Bordonaro. Littlewood, Holovach, and Bordonaro spent their entire 2013 campaigns in Clinton. Midwest League Debut.21 LumberKings have made their Midwest League debut, the most recent being Corey Simpson Wednesday against Quad Cities. Simpson hit fifth and started once IF Martin Peguero was placed on the 7-day disabled list. Mariners Watch.Seattle won a thriller Friday night at Safeco Field, knocking off the Texas Rangers 6-5. In the top of the 9 th, the Rangers loaded the bases with one out. Texas slugger Adrian Beltre ripped a line drive to first base that appeared ticketed for the right-field corner, but former LumberKing Justin Smoak dove to his left, snared the line drive, and beat Elvis Andrus back to first base for a game-ending double play. The win was Seattle s second straight following an eight-game losing streak. The M s look to grab the series today with right-hander Felix Hernandez (3-1, 2.04) scheduled to make his fifth start in 2014. All-Time Wins List as Clinton Manager 1.
