IMPORTANT By taking part, riders agree to do so at their own risk Barum or Bust and it s associates will not be held liable for any accident, loss or damage suffered as a result of participation in this event ALL RIDERS MUST WEAR AN APPROVED CYCLE HELMET Your bicycle must be in a safe, roadworthy state You must ensure that you are fit/healthy enough to complete your chosen distance THIS IS A CHARITY EVENT AND NOT A RACE Riders are welcome to challenge themselves on climbs and various other parts of the ride but the idea is that everyone starts and finishes this ride together RIDERS MUST ABIDE BY THE HIGHWAY CODE, RIDE SAFELY, WITHIN THEIR OWN CAPABILTY AND RESPECT OTHER ROAD USERS AT ALL TIMES PLEASE REMEMBER WHY we are completing this ride BE KIND, COURTEOUS, RESPECTFUL AND NO LITTERING
TRAVEL If you have booked yourself on the coach and your bicycle on our lorry for transport to Weston, then please read below BIKES Kindly sponsored by WESTERN TRUCK RENTAL These will need to be delivered and loaded on to our lorry on SATURDAY 18 th of August The lorry will be available for loading between 12 noon 3pm Location Just Office, Unit 8 Brannam Crescent, Roundswell Business Park, Barnstaple. EX31 3TD (opposite side to Sainsburys) FOLLOW OUR PINK DIRECTION SIGNS from the roundabout Please bring an old sheet or duvet with you in order to wrap your bike for transport. We will have over 40 bikes on the lorry and we don t want any scratches or damage Please mark your sheet/duvet clearly with your name as this will be available for collection at the finish upon completion of your ride
TRAVEL If you have booked yourself on the coach and your bicycle on our lorry for transport to Weston, then please read below COACH TRAVEL Kindly sponsored by STREETS COACHWAYS The coach will pick up on the square, Barnstaple (Bus stop outside GLT) DEPARTS 6am Non-negotiable so don t be late please COST - 5.00 per person (also covers bike transport costs) Please pay on the coach ( 5 notes appreciated) Lisa Beasant, Paige Unstead and other members of our team will be on hand to collect payment Coach will drop riders near to Weston Grand Pier in order to collect your bike from our lorry
REGISTRATION Registration is a very important part of our day for safety reasons Please ensure that you have signed in before starting your ride so that we can account for you throughout the day Riders on the coach will register on the journey to Weston. Lisa Beasant and Paige Unstead will register you once you have paid for your coach travel Riders making their own way to Weston will need to register near the start. Please look for a member of the team to do so Riders starting from Wiveliscombe or South Molton will sign on with Lisa and Paige upon arrival Once registered, all riders will receive and asked to wear a special commemorative wrist band to indicate that registration is complete. These have kindly been supplied by NGA Electrical
RIDE SUPPORT In order that you have a safe and hassle-free day with us, the ride will be supported by safety and mechanical back up Micycles Mike Parker will be following the ride and offering mechanical back-up support should you have any issues with your bike along the way Please note Any parts required will be chargeable at a later date ROSPA Yet again we will have the awesome ROSPA motorcycle team out alongside us on the road These guys are invaluable and will assist with busy roads and junctions ensuring that your route back to Barnstaple is as safe as possible DEB/KEV We will also have an additional vehicle supporting the ride (complete with bike racks) should you be unable to continue or have a major mechanical issue
STARTING PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU HAVE SIGNED ON PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU HAVE YOUR COMMEMORATIVE WRISTBAND ON AND VISIBLE We also have a North Devon Hospice van available at the start This will transport any bags and belongings that you may have taken with you on to our various stopping points along the way for access Please ensure that this is packed properly and closed before loading as we will have quite a few to get on-board Make your way with your bike to the promenade directly opposite the entrance to the Grand Pier There will be a brief introduction and safety briefing before departure RIDE LEAVES AT 9.00am SHARP

SIGNS For your convenience and safety, we are signing the route on the day The signs you will be following are the ones shown below which have been very kindly produced and supplied by our sponsor BLUE ORANGE SIGNS Please remain on the road you are on unless instructed to change direction by the signs These will be placed at regular intervals so please don t panic if you haven t seen one for a while
FEED STATIONS To fuel you throughout your ride and to ensure that you are full of energy for the 12, 40 or 80 mile journey ahead, we will be providing feed stations along the way Our feed stations will be as follows Wiveliscombe Rugby Club 40 miles South Molton Rugby Club 12 miles The feed stations will provide water courtesy of Tarka Springs and also donuts, flapjack and bananas courtesy of Sainsburys Barnstaple If you require anything in addition to this then can you please ensure that you bring it along in your bag which will be accessible at each feed station
FINISH Our finish is at the amazing Barnstaple Rugby Club PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU HAVE SIGNED OUT BEFORE LEAVING What an achievement and we thank you so much for supporting our day and helping to raise funds for our charity North Devon Hospice Wait Don t go too quickly! We will have music, a barbecue (chargeable) run by our friends at Everything Ellie, cakes, bakes, coffee and lots more from the amazing Kirk at Bake and Brew and most importantly The bar will be open! Please encourage your friends and family to come down and cheer you home so that we can create a party atmosphere!
PHOTOGRAPHY My daughter Paige is an A Level photography student and currently studying at Exeter College She has volunteered to be part of the day and take lots of photos of all you amazing cyclists She will be shooting in both film and digital formats and also colour as well as black and white These photos will be available to purchase after the event as a momento of your day with a donation to our charity North Devon Hospice Make sure you keep smiling and that you are looking great in all that pink!
