MAPLEDURHAM TEN RUNNERS INFORMATION Sunday 2nd December 2018 Welcome to the Mapledurham Ten 2018. This is the first of three runs in our Winter Trail Series. The Mapledurham Ten course is mixed terrain event and has two distances-10k and 10miles- and takes runners through the picturesque countryside around Mapledurham House and up a few particularly steep hills! Getting to the event The event takes place from Mapledurham House, RG4 7TR We strongly advise that you arrive by 09:00 By car Travelling from Caversham & Reading, Take the A4074 towards Woodcote & Benson. You will also pick up brown signs for Mapledurham House. Follow this road for 1.5 miles out of Caversham and turn left at the Pack Saddle pub. The road towards Mapledurham village is downhill and fairly narrow in places downhill. Event car parking will be signed, and on the right hand side just prior to reaching the village. Travelling from the North, Woodcote & Benson, head along the A4074 signed for Caversham and Reading. Continue to approach the Pack Saddle pub on your left and turn right, following brown signs for Mapledurham House. The road towards Mapledurham village is downhill and fairly narrow in places downhill. Event car parking will be signed, and on the right hand side just prior to reaching the village. Cycling There are suitable places to lock up bikes by the riverside close to registration.
Registration, Race Pack Collection and Baggage 10k and 10 mile race packs contain- Registration is open from 08:30 until 09:50 for 10k and 10 mile runners Registration will be signed from the car park. It is a 100 metre walk from the car park to registration. Please collect race packs at registration on the morning of the event- they will not be posted out in advance. Chip timing The Mapledurham Ten race is chip timed to give you accurate results. Entries on the day? There will be a limited number of entries available on the day; please bring exact change entries are 25 for the 10k & 30 for the 10 Mile on the day, and payment is by cash only. This is subject to change. Baggage *Your race number has a tear off baggage tag at the bottom. Please label your bag with your tag and leave your bag at the secure baggage area with our team before the start.
Race briefing, start & course for 10k and 10 Mile The race briefing for the 10k and 10 mile race will take place at 09:55 by the start line. The start of the race will take place from under the grey gantry straight after the briefing. The course is mixed terrain through fields, along woodland trails and country roads. If wet in the lead up to the race, it can be particularly muddy and boggy in places. We would recommend trail shoes. Course Signage The course is well signed with the following- - red and yellow tape tied to trees/ gate posts - arrows - kilometre and mile distance markers This a trail race and there will not be marshals at every turn!
If you reach a junction and there is no signage, you have gone wrong! Please head back to the last place you did see some rather than just ploughing blindly onwards into the countryside. If you think you have a chance of leading the event at any point, pay very close attention to the signage! Please note- At two points, the 10k & 10 Mile courses split. There will be marshals at these points, however their job is not to direct each and every runner. Pay attention! Obey marshals instructions, please- Our marshals on the course are there to look after you. It is not their job to direct each runner. Drink Stations Use of headphones- We politely request that you do not wear headphones. You must be able to hear marshals instructions, be aware of road traffic and wary of other runners around you. There will be water available at 2 points on each course. For 10k runners- water available at 3.5k & 7.5k For 10mile runners- water available at 4.5 & 8.2 miles
Running with your four legged friend You are welcome to take part with your dog but please we request that the dog is kept on a lead and you start at the back. Please be considerate when overtaking runners or of runners passing you! Overtaking on the course The course can be narrow in places. Please be considerate of other runners and footpath users. A loud and cheery, On your right/left should allow you space to pass safely.
At the finish At the finish, you will receive a medal. Our marshals will also offer you water, mulled wine & mince pie. Results & Prizes Live results will be available to view and print out by the DBMax van in the finish area. Overall prizes will be presented at the finish line, with age category prizes being posted out in the days after the event. Massage There will be post event massage at the registration area. Hot/ cold food and drink There will be refreshments to purchase after your race. Collecting your baggage Please be prepared to show your race number to collect your bag.

Facilities at the start/ finish area Toilets Hot food, snacks and hot & cold drinks Massage There are no changing facilities- please come dressed ready to run Spectators The courses take a figure of eight shape (see MAPS), so spectators can watch runners approach halfway near the car park gates. In the days after the event, you will receive your itab, engraved with your name and finish time, to add to your medal
