Talk New Forest Ponies with Simon and Shirley Young at Farriers Stud Rally contact Sue Mitchell james@mitchellhome.demon.co.uk Come and learn about New Forest Ponies at one of our well known local studs. The Youngs will be talking about the breed, conformation, temperament, early handling of the newly weened foals, and also look at some older ponies to see how the ponies mature and what handling and work the ponies need at each stage. This rally will contribute to the Native Pony and Public Speaking badge, see below R156 Friday 26th October Farriers Stud, Landford, SP5 2AS 11am (1 ½ to 2 hours) 3 Badge Native Pony and Public Speaking Badge Building on what the children have learnt at the New Forest Pony talk on 26th October we will be running the Native Pony and Public Speaking badge. We will talk about the native pony breeds and the children will have a chance to make a short presentation about a breed of native pony during the evening. Susan Mitchell and I will be giving them some tips about successful public speaking. They will need to do some preparation at home before the badge. If any children don t want to talk in public they can prepare some written information to gain their native pony badge and learn from listening to the others. Children don t have to attend the talk on 26 Oct to gain their badges. These rallies are for ALL levels and with Pony Club tests coming up we will be covering all test syllabus from D test through to B test. Have-a-go dressage test practice rally with Amanda Barton Aimed at our younger members who want to have a go at our dressage competition on 22 Oct. Working in small groups we will help prepare members for the walk and trot and Preliminary (walk, trot and canter) tests. Assistance is allowed at the competition so children on the lead rein and just off are very welcome as well any anyone who has not done much dressage before and wants to gain confidence before going to a competition. Tests will be provided on the day and all children will have the chance to run through their tests individually. Mounted Games with Amanda Barton Mounted games dismounted evening A fun evening for children and parents aimed at anyone whose child has an interest in taking part in any Mounted games competition in 2019. Children need to be no older than 10 on 1 January 2019. Children will take part in fun dismounted games during the evening. For parents, Amanda will run through what is involved with competing in our region and think ahead about training to achieve this. Please come along if you have even wondered about getting involved. It is a HUGE amount of fun for parents as well as children due to the very strong team element of this discipline. Children on the lead rein are very welcome as there are novice classes for them. Many of our best event riders started out with PC mounted games, take this opportunity to get involved!
