Swim Spa Delivery Methods & Options Your sales consultant would have discussed options for delivering your swim spa. Below are some further details which will help you understand the process further. Auckland & Christchurch Our standard delivery method for a Swim Spa in Auckland and Christchurch is with a Hiab equipped delivery truck. These usually have a range of about 7 meters from the truck and are able to lift the Swim Spa over standard sized fences. Access via neighbouring properties or driveways may be an option for you to consider. If this standard method is not suitable and further reach is required, we can quote custom options for crane or helicopter delivery. Nationwide Depot Delivery We can ship the Swim Spa to a local depot from which you can organize collection with Hiab or suitable delivery truck. Alpine Spas can organize transport from the depot to your desired location as part of our custom delivery option. Custom Options Swim Spa deliveries can be complex due to the size and weight of the product. Alpine Spas can organize and co-ordinate delivery through a number of options and methods. Contact us to find out what is possible and to get a quote. 1

Hiabs and Cranes In some circumstances a lift over a garage or dwelling is required. To achieve this, the use of a crane or hiab will usually be employed. A site visit by the crane operator is mandatory to assess and quote for the delivery, as they are dealt with on a case-by-case basis depending on the site conditions. In most cases this can be organized by the team at Alpine Spas. Contact us to discuss this option. 2

Overview Your Swim Spa s Measurements Below are the measurements of your new Swim Spa. This will allow you to plan ahead when it comes to finding the best position for placement. HYDRO Height: 1370mm 3900mm 2280mm 1900mm 3370mm Drainage Valve OLYMPUS Height: 1370mm 1920mm 2280mm 1610mm 2830mm 960mm Drainage Valve 5000mm 3

Factors to consider Do you have a view that you wish to look over while relaxing in the Swim Spa? Is the area sheltered, hidden from strong winds? Are there potential privacy issues with double story buildings next door? What is the distance from the house or changing area for getting out on a cold night? Are there other features you wish to add to your Swim Spa environment to enhance your experience, such as decking or a gazebo? 4

Positioning Your Swim Spa Planning the Foundation Foundation & Base When full, your Swim Spa will weigh up to 8 tonnes. It will need to sit on a flat, level surface so the entire base is evenly supported. Because of this, we recommend it is seated on a steel reinforced concrete pad 150-200mm thick. If you are not able to use a reinforced concrete pad, please consult with an engineer to discuss other options for supporting an 8 tonne weight on a flat level surface that will not subside. Heat Pump Foundation The heat pump unit will also need to be supported on a flat level surface and placed with consideration to the air-space requirements found on page 14. We recommend the heat pump is placed on pavers or a concrete pad to support the weight. Stair Foundation Your Swim Spa stairs also require a level surface of pavers or concrete pad to support them. See next page for dimensions. 5

The diagram below gives a simplified depiction of the size of the concrete pad that will be needed to support your Swim Spa, stairs and heat pump. Hydro Swim Spa The Hydro needs to be placed on a 4100mm x 2480mm (L x W) steel reinforced concrete pad at least 150-200mm thick. This allows for 100mm of foundation clearance around the entire Swim Spa. Standard Hydro You will need extra foundation prepared of either pavers or concrete to support the stairs and heat pump (if purchased separately). Standard Stairs: 890 x 890mm (W x L). Heat Pump: 955 x 305 x 550mm (L x W x H). Platinum Hydro You will need extra foundation prepared of either pavers or concrete to support the stairs and heat pump. Positioning Your Swim Spa Drainage & Access Drainage Ensuring there is adequate drainage around the Swim Spa is very important. Any build-up of ground water or run-off needs to be directed away from the Swim Spa as flooding issues are not covered by warranty. Covered gravel trenches around all sides of the foundation should be used to prevent flooding. Additionally, incorporating drainage channels into the concrete pad is highly recommended. Your Swim Spa water will also need to be manually drained a few times a year via the external drain valve. A hose attachment is supplied. Cover Lifter Clearance Two top mount cover lifters are included with the Platinum Swim Spas and mount on the two shortest ends of the Swim Spa. An extra 600mm of clearance on each end is required to lift the covers off and on cleanly.* Service Access 800mm of clearance needs to be provided around the Swim Spa to remove the panels for service access. This also applies when decking or sinking your Swim Spa. See page 10 for more information on service access. 9

Positioning Your Swim Spa Decking & Sinking Adding a deck around your Swim Spa or sinking it into the ground can create a stunning visual appearance, however there are a few things to take into account before getting underway. Decking Around the Spa Cantilevering the deck is the best option for enabling access, as no supporting beams interfere with the Spas panels. Consider a hatch or an alternative way to get under the deck to service the Swim Spa. We recommend building around the Swim Spa after it has arrived. Sinking the Spa Consider leaving strops under the Swim Spa to make it easier for you to lift it out if required. Factors to Consider Drainage & service access must be accounted for when decking or sinking the Spa. The manual drain valve is located on the external cabinet at the bottom of the Swim Spa. You may consider pre-attaching a hose and have it run to an accessible location with it s own control valve. The ipod dock sits on the front cabinet approx 250-300mm from the top edge of the Swim Spa. Consider a trap door for access to it. Covers may not be able to be secured to cabinet. Other arrangements would need to be made such as locking to the deck. 10

Service Access Requirements Service Access If your Swim Spa needs servicing, it is likely a technician will need to remove the panels on some or all sides of the Swim Spa. 800mm of clearance needs to be provided in order to remove the panels and service the Swim Spa. Obstructions like buildings, trees and fences should be taken into consideration. It is the owners responsibility to ensure that all panels can be removed and accessed around all four sides of the Swim Spa. 11

Electrical Installation Providing Power to Your Swim Spa NOTE: ALL ELECTRICAL WORK MUST BE UNDERTAKEN BY A LICENSED ELECTRICIAN. Swim Spa Controller Your Swim Spa incorporates the industries best spa controllers; the SpaNet SV4-HV and/or the SV3-VH. These controllers are highly customizable with programmable sleep and load shedding/sharing options. Often load shedding is used where a limited supply of current is available. This means when pumps and blowers are running, the heater will turn off and the SpaNet controller will allow the maximum current available to be drawn. The 6KW variable heater (or 8.8KW Heat Pump) can still then be run while the pumps and blower are on, but at a lower power level. Power Input The power cable should be fed through the cabinet by drilling through closet panel to your outdoor power point and inserting a grommet. Run the cable through the inside of the Swim Spa, to the controller. If you want to conceal the power cable instead and plan to bring the feed up through the bottom of the Swim Spa, the initial wiring and/or conduit will need to be in place before delivery. Ensure your cable comes up underneath the Swim Spa at the suggested cable input location (see diagrams on next page). When the Swim Spa arrives, have it lowered by crane/hiab onto supporting blocks and open the cabinet panel. Measure the same entry point and drill a hole (width of the cable) down through the ABS base. Feed the cable up through the hole into the inside of the Swim Spa and then remove the blocks. Lower down gently onto the foundation. 12

Cable Input Locations The following diagrams show the suggested power cable input locations via the electrical symbol Measure from the outer edge of the recommended foundation dimensions found on pages 6 or 7. System Controllers Once you have your cable inside the Swim Spa, it will need to be connected by an electrician to the SpaNet SV3- VH or SV4-VH controllers. These are marked and located in the diagrams below. Note: The Himalaya has two controllers, one on each end of the Swim Spa to control each zone separately. Electrical Installation Power Requirements Required Amperage Your Swim Spa will require dedicated wiring. Talk to your electrician about the following amperage required. OLYMPUS STANDARD & OLYMPUS PLATINUM Supply 45amp feed: Heat disabled when all 4 pumps active. OR Supply 55 amp feed: All components will run at once. Wiring Options The Swim Spas can be run single, dual or 3 phase. Your electrician will be able to advise the most appropriate option for your situation. You will find the wiring diagrams in the manual with the Swim Spa when it arrives for your electrician to do the final connection - if they are unsure, contact us. HIMALAYA STANDARD Swim Zone - Supply 32amp feed: Heat disabled when all 3 pumps active. OR Swim Zone - Supply 45amp feed: All components will run at once. Spa Zone - Supply 32amp feed. HIMALAYA PLATINUM Swim Zone - Supply 45amp feed: Heat disabled when all 4 pumps active. OR Swim Zone - Supply 55amp feed: All components will run at once. Spa Zone - Supply 32amp feed. 15

Heat Pump Installation Guide Using a Heat-Pump Equipping your Swim Spa with a heat pump is a fantastic way to reduce your running costs, providing a power saving of up to 70%. This is due to the heat pump returning a higher kilowatt output for a lower kilowatt input. The control and power for the heat pump integrates seamlessly with the SpaNet controller. All Alpine Swim Spas come preplumbed ready for connection to a 8.8kW SpaNet heat-pump. Placement Considerations need to be made for the location of the heat pump. The heat pump measures 955 x 305 x 550mm (L x W x H) and needs to be placed on a solid flat foundation at the same level as the Swim Spa. It is best to sit the heat pump as close to the Swim Spa plumbing as possible but must adhere to the air-space requirements seen in the diagram below (all values are minimum). 500mm 300mm 2500mm 500mm 16

With the right tools and materials you can begin the easy installation process. Required Materials & Tools 40mm PVC Hard Pipe - length to suit plumbing configuration for your Swim Spa. Connections to suit plumbing configuration elbows, unions etc. PVC Pipe cement. Hacksaw. 40mm Hole saw or larger for cabinetry. 17

Installation 1. Power off the Swim Spa and remove the cabinetry at the swimming zone end. 2. Inside the cabinet will be the pre-plumbed pipe work for the heat pump. Decide where the plumbing will come in through the cabinetry and drill 2 x 40mm holes to accommodate the input and output of the heat pump piping. These should be at an appropriate height so the piping isn t being used to hold the heat pump up. 3. Close the 2 slice valves in the capped offshoot pipes (make sure to twist the handle to lock in place). 4. Cut the caps off the tops of the offshoot pipes with a sharp knife. The pipe furthest from the controller in the Swim Spa is the inlet pipe. Plumb this into the inlet of the heat pump (bottom connection on the heat pump). 5. The offshoot nearest the controller is the outlet pipe. This is plumbed to the top connection. 6. Once the plumbing is done, open the slice valves closed in step 3 and close the slice valve in the main line (between the 2 offshoots). 7. Purge air from the system by loosening the outlet on the heat pump. It can be closed off once water starts to trickle out of the pipe. 8. Connect the power cable from the heat pump into one of the 230V mains outlets of the SV controller. 9. Connect the heat pump data cable into the Expand2 (EXP2) data socket of the SV controller. 10. Restore power to the Swim Spa and run the jets to ensure the water is flowing and free of any air locks. 11. Check the Spanet user control panel manual for info on turning the heat pump on, and for use with the variable heater. (See pages 17-22) 18
