Baltic Road Association 1989: Foundation of Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian joint organization Baltic Road Council (BRC); 2000: Foundation of Baltic Road Association; Chaired by Council (4 members from each Baltic State); 7 working Technical Committees; 4 year period ending with International Baltic Road Conference.

Baltic - Nordic Co-operation 1989 / 1990: first official contacts with the Nordic countries; 1992: signing of the 1st memorandum between NRA and BRC. 20 NordBalt seminars held in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Iceland; 4 Seminars on Restructuring Road Management; road museum directors and internal auditors work continuously since 2005; BRA / NRA board members are invited to Via Nordica and the International Baltic Road Conference free of charge.

Pavements and Heavy Vehicles Via Baltica 1st Pavement Design Workshop, Nov 3-4, 2015, Latvia: 3 Baltic States + Byelorussia, Russia, Germany, Finland Analysis of pavement calculations in the involved countries. Possible test run of TSD equipment on Via Baltica (deflection measurements) in 2017/2018.

Via Baltica Parking Lots Review of existing LT «RECOMMENDATIONS FOR CONSTRUCTION OF REST AREAS ON MOTOR ROADS» and LV parking lots study on secure parking according to EU regulations; Information for road users every country has different system; Beginning of 2016 draft of minimal requirement; Spring of 2016 visiting all Baltic countries to have a overview of parking lots (6 people and 6 days); End of 2016 document should be ready.

SMART E67 Project Partnership between Latvian State Roads and Estonian Road Administration; Implementation of adaptive traffic management (VMS, smart traffic lights); Improvement of traffic information infrastructure (RWIS, Cameras); Total budget 2.4 MEUR (LSR 1.4 MEUR, ERA 1.0 MEUR, FTA advisor without budget); 85% co-financed by Interreg Central Baltic.

SMART E67 Project Actions

Road Maintenance 1 st workshop in August, 2016; Comparison of routine road maintenance requirements on E-roads. In future - comparison of routine road maintenance requirements on support and side roads in a similar form. Proposals for potential harmonised requirements in the future.
