Cláraithe leis An Choimisiún le Rincí Gaelacha The Southern England Regional Council Presents the Southern England Oireachtas To be held on Thursday 21 st to Sunday 24 th November 2013 At Broxbourne Civic Hall High Street Hoddesdon Hertfordshire EN11 8BE

DEAR TEACHERS, PARENTS AND DANCERS On behalf of the Southern England Regional Council I am delighted to present the Syllabus for this year s Southern England Oireachtas, held in the Broxbourne Civic Hall from Thursday 21 st through to Sunday 24 th November 2013. 2013 sees probably the most exciting Oireachtas ever in that our Region s dancers will be trying very hard to get the opportunity to compete at the World Championships next year, which of course will be held in LONDON, coupled with the fact that this will be the first time the World Championships have been held in England. In looking closely at the management of our mandatory competitions, and anticipating a larger entry than is usual, especially in the Ceili, we have had to look at finding the necessary amount of time in the proposed timetable to cater for a potential increase in entries. It is therefore a matter of regret that this year we have had to cancel the two Belt (TSD) competitions. Have no fear though they will be back in 2014! I am pleased to advise that we have been invited to seek dancers to represent the Southern England Region to participate at the official opening ceremony of the World Championships in London 2014. This is a really exciting opportunity for some of our dancers and more detailed information will be contained in the Oireachtas programme on how to register your interest in this exciting opportunity. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our Oireachtas Chairpersons, June and Denis Way for their dedication over the years to this most important dancing event, and of course my colleagues on the Southern England Regional Council for their commitment and hard work over this weekend. Go raibh maith agaibh go leir Many thanks to you all Seán Hennigan Chairman Southern England Regional Council
