Sydney North Region Scouts and Northern Beaches Guides JOTA/JOTI Camp Narrabeen 20-22 October 2006 The 2006 JOTA Guide/Scout camp will be held at the Narrabeen Lakeside Caravan Park, from 5.00pm Friday, October 20 to 2.00pm on Sunday, October 22, 2006. Pedestrian entry to the Caravan Park is via Walsh Street or Ocean Street. Parents entering via the boom gates will be directed to the nearby car park. Entry to the campsites is limited to vehicles dropping off heavy equipment or staying on site for the weekend. This is a great fun weekend camp, where both Guides and Scouts join together as mixed groups to participate in the various planned activities. Leaders will need to supervise their own youth members. Costs for the weekend are $40 for youth members and $25 for leaders. The fee includes activities and camping fees. Food is to be provided by the Group/Unit. In addition to Radio Communications and Jamboree on the Internet (which will be at scheduled times) other activities will include making an Electronic Kit, Canoe trip on Narrabeen Lakes, a round of Putt Putt golf, as well as night activities including a movie, internet and radio. Troops/Units will be allocated into a group and then participate in the various activities on a roster basis. Participants will be given the opportunity to work towards their Communicator / Science and Technology badge during the weekend. Campers may move in any time between 5.00pm and 8.00pm on Friday. Check in at the Registration tent to find your pre-allocated camping site. Campsites will only be allocated when application form and monies are received. Bookings close on October 1, 2006. A leader meeting will be held in the big tent at 9.00pm on Friday night. At least ONE leader from each Troop/Unit must attend. Information will be provided on the weekend s activities and group identification and programs will be distributed. Adult helpers must check in on arrival at the Information Tent, they must be prepared to sign the Working with Children Check/Prohibited Employment Declaration form. The JOTA committee will allocate adult helpers to activity sites. If a preference please indicate on the application form. Each Troop/Unit MUST have a leader or adult in charge with them at all times. Youth members will NOT be permitted to camp without a leader. Members of the Scout and Guide Associations supervise all activities. LEADERS PLEASE NOTE The JOTA camp takes place in a public camping area, with many members of the public camping nearby. All participants need to conduct themselves with extra attention to the principles of Guiding and Scouting and the Law and Promise. This is a great opportunity to show Guides and Scouts in a positive way. Please report to the Information Tent upon arrival, you will be directed to your allocated site. No open fires are permitted in the caravan park gas is the preferred fuel. Due to limited space, your campsite will be restricted to an area of approx 9m x 13m. On site parking will be available in designated areas for cars and trailers bringing in equipment at no charge. Drivers must register upon arrival and provide Name, Registration number, Group name and contact phone number. Participants are not to be offsite unless permission is given from the JOTA Leader in charge for Guides or Scouts. Anyone coming and going to/from the campsite must report to the Information Tent so they can be signed in and out. Parent helpers and day visitors are to sign in and out at information shelter for job allocations. Leader meeting will be held at 9.00pm on Friday night in the big tent at least one leader from each group must attend. Further information, group allocation, and wristbands will be handed out at this meeting. The caravan park will provide a security patrol at night. We are in a public area security of each group s area throughout the day is the leader s responsibility. A First Aider will be on site at all times for emergencies only. Please ensure that you complete the appropriate camp forms in the usual manner, i.e. permission forms to parents, permission to camp forms, health forms etc. Please fill out your Water Activities form prior to your scheduled Water Activities Session and hand in when collecting your gear. There is a separate sheet in your package envelope. Those attending water activities must have enclosed shoes to wear in the water, such as old sand shoes. Please note no sandals, thongs or reef shoes will be allowed. NO SHOES NO WATER ACTIVITY. Each group is to bring a large plastic bag with tie to water activities for clothing. It is the responsibility of each leader in charge of their group to ensure that all gear is returned to a Water Activities staff member and checked off at the end of the session.
