Fandango Range/Stage Conventions & Match Conduct All SASS Rules, and SASS stage and firearm conventions apply unless otherwise indicated in the stage description. Basic Fandango philosophy in stage descriptions if the stage description doesn t say to do things in certain way, then you can do as you wish, within current SASS Rules and these Stage Conventions. *Fandango Stage Conventions overrule SASS Rules. Order of Engagement: Targets may be engaged in any order, unless stage descriptions indicate a specific order. Sweeps start on either end unless stage descriptions indicate a left or right end start. Shotgun Targets: All shotgun targets MAY be re-engaged Comstock Rules. Shotgun targets may be re-engaged at the end of the shotgun string or at the moment they have been missed. All swinger or stationary shotgun targets must be engaged. Golden BB rule applies. What is the Golden BB rule? It means that when you engage a swinger or stationary shotgun target, if you are not disqualified from the match for breaking the 170 degree rule with your shotgun during the act of firing, you hit the target. Buckaroos and Buckarettes: Need only engage a knock down target, they do not have to go down. Shotgun targets: Makeup shotgun targets can only be engaged after engaging regular shotgun targets. Targets that fail to go down, must be re-engaged from original position in the stage description. Make guns safe: It is the responsibility of the shooter to stage or holster all guns safely. (This may not be repeated in the stage descriptions). Guns may be made safe anywhere upon completion of shooting string, including transporting them to the next shooting position. Long guns empty: Defined as not unloaded. Long guns may be staged in, near or at the positions indicated, horizontally, unless stage description indicates otherwise. Long guns staged horizontally on tables or counter tops must have at least the rear of the trigger guard over the horizontal surface. Revolvers must have the entire firearm over the horizontal surface. Unloading / Loading on the move: Firearms may be loaded and unloaded on the move regarding safe for movement. Unloading Officer: it is recommended that all unloading tables will have an unloading officer designated to clear all firearms before each shooter leaves the unloading table. This may be the previous shooter or a posse member as designated by the Posse Leader. Dry Firing: There will be no dry firing (the act of raising the firearm to a firing position, pointing, cocking and pulling the trigger, so as to simulate firing it) at the LOADING tables. Transporting long guns: Long guns will be transported to and from the firing line, empty with actions open, muzzles vertical. Long guns with soft cases or socks that are visible in guns carts it is recommended to have actions open. Re-Shoots: Will only be given for timer malfunctions, TO interference or prop/timer malfunctions, once the first round has left the barrel. Re-Starts: Bad or fumbled starts may be re-initiated. This may only be allowed if the shooter can complete the re-start immediately keeping the delay to a minimum. Technical issues with firearms at the start should be addressed at the unloading table to as not to cause delays on the firing line. Saying lines: Shooters must make a good faith effort to say initiating line correctly, but no penalty will be incurred for incorrect lines or adlibbing CONTINUED ON NEXT PAGE! READ ON!

Fandango Range/Stage Conventions & Match Conduct Down Range procedures: are necessary only in shooting bays with more than one stage. If movement down range is required, Down Range will be called by the RO. No gun handling or activity at the tables shall be conducted while Down Range is called.. When all movement down range has ceased, the RO will announce. Range is HOT. Down Ranges on single stage bays shall be conducted by the RO for that posse. Since all Fandango bays are single stage bays, flags are not required. Cease Fires: If a cease fire is called, all engaging shooters must cease fire immediately and make firearms safe, move to the unloading table, and ground all firearms. Spotting: Spotters must position themselves so as to clearly see the targets being engaged, and move if necessary. Spotters MUST SEE A MISS, and any doubt will be given to the shooter. To remind all shooters once again: If you THINK IT HIT, you must score a HIT If you THINK IT MISSED, you MUST score a HIT If you see it HIT, then you score a HIT ONLY IF you clearly SEE IT MISS, then you call a MISS Spotters are reminded that spotting is an extremely important job in operation of a posse, and that some targets do not ring when hit as most do. Therefore, the absence of sound does not necessarily indicate the target has been missed. Spotters must SEE A MISS; anything less than that, or if the spotter has any doubt in their mind, they must call a HIT. Scoring and Awards: Scoring will be by total time. However, a shooter must complete all scored main match stages to be eligible for a main match award. In the unlikely event of severe, inclement weather or any other conditions which may adversely affect the safety of the match, the Fandango MD, will determine the appropriate course of action. Errors in scoring must be brought to the attention of the Match Director as soon as possible. Disputes or appeals shall, whenever possible, be handled on the posse by the Posse Leader. The chain of authority for further disputes or protests shall be the Match Director. The MD, may at his/her discretion, form a committee of 3 Match Officials and proceed per SASS rules. Disputes or appeals must be registered with the Posse Leader before the posse leaves the stage where the issue or incident occurred. The dispute shall be heard and processed as soon as practically possible by match officials. Any disputes or protests brought to the Posse Leader or the MD after this time will NOT be entertained. Show courtesy to the posse ahead: Posse members should not crowd the posse ahead, and should not move into the stage area until vacated by the previous posse. Malfunctioning/Jammed Firearms: Firearms that cannot be cleared and made safe MUST remain on the bay/ unloading table. Loaded firearms are NOT to be transported away from the stage without direct Posse Leader supervision. Interpersonal conflicts / rude or inappropriate behavior: Any other behavior than that of a true cowboy / cowgirl will not, under any circumstances, be tolerated. In the unlikely event that any shooter demonstrates such behavior they will be ejected from the match immediately and without question. Safety First... BUT please do have fun!

NO BUTTS! Smoking is NOT permitted inside any building on the Club Grounds Dogs must be leashed when outside your camper/tent/car. Pets not permitted inside club buildings where food is being prepared or consumed. Scoring Match will be scored by total time: raw time plus misses and penalties. All misses are five seconds. Procedural penalties are ten seconds, maximum one per stage. DNF and Stage DQ s are scored as total round count for that stage plus 30 seconds. Match DQ receives no score. (2 DNF or 2 SDQ = MDQ) Score sheets, timer, and spotter neckerchiefs STAY at the stage. At each stage there will be a tub that will include the needed tools for scoring. Please return all tools to the tub before you leave the stage and put the cover on. The statistician team will retrieve completed score sheets during the course of the match. Do not remove the tools from the stage at the end of the day. Leave them in a place easily found by the statistician team. Saturday s stage scores will be posted in the Fandango Palace no later than Sunday morning for you to review and check for errors. Main match, side match and Wild Bunch results will be announced right after lunch on Sunday. Personal Protection Everyone competitor and spectator alike is required to wear eye protection in the shooting areas. Hearing protection and eye protection side shields are required. First Aid and AED The first aid kit and AED are available in Forestville Right Next to Stage 4. Costume Contests Shooters will be judged on the line on Saturday. Top 2 Men, Women & Junior Shooting Costumes Informal judging will occur before and during the banquet on Saturday night.
