STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORT Goulburn & District Racing Club GOULBURN RACECOURSE 11th April, 2016 Weather: Fine Track: Good (4), upgraded to Good (3) at 1:45pm Rail: Out 3m STEWARDS: J D Walshe (Chairman), T Moxon & Cadet T McDonald As Ms K O Hara was injured Stewards permitted the following riding changes: Race 1 Race 2 Race 4 Race 5 Race 6 Race 7 New Endeavour J Ford Noble Joey App R Hutchings (nil claim) Bella Uno J Ford Dominant Choice B Spriggs Plea Bargain - App R Hutchings (nil claim) Hot Mustard - App R Hutchings (nil claim) RACE 1: Radio Goulburn Class 3 Handicap 1200m Correct weight was delayed at the request of the connections of Le Cavalier to enable them to view a replay of the final 200m to ascertain whether there were grounds to lodge an objection against the winner Martha Mary. When such grounds did not exist, correct weight was declared on the Judge s placings. Lad About Town Became held up after the 100m and had to shift to the inside of Martha Mary to obtain clear running. Le Cavalier Near the 100m had some difficulty improving through a developing run between Martha Mary and Falco. Falco Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Happy Soul When questioned, rider M Bell stated that his mount disappointed in its failure to respond to his riding in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have cardiac arrhythmia. Trainer Mr B Heys was told that he would be required to provide a veterinary clearance including the results of an ECG prior to the gelding also being required to barrier trial to the Stewards satisfaction prior to it being permitted to race again. Following the running of this race the track was upgraded at 1:45pm to a Good (3) to be made retrospective to include this event.
RACE 2: Doyles On The Beach Benchmark 55 Handicap 1000m Immy Bumped with Monsieur Affaire on jumping. Monsieur Affaire Bumped with Immy on jumping. When questioned regarding her riding of the gelding, rider app K Rayner stated that after being crossed by Noble Joey after the 800m, her mount commenced to over-race but agreed with the Stewards that she should have made greater effort to shift in with Noble Joey to obtain cover behind that gelding rather than remain racing exposed and covering unnecessary ground and particularly around the home turn where she allowed her mount to drift wide. App Rayner advised that her mount then did not respond to her riding in the straight and was somewhat disappointing. App Rayner was told that she must ride her mounts more competitively in future. A postrace veterinary examination of the gelding did not reveal any abnormality. Pure Choice Some distance after the start was bumped by Clint which was taken out by Monsieur Affaire. Raced wide throughout. Circuit Spirit Passing the 500m laid in away from Pure Choice, clipped the heels of Yama Magic and blundered. Noble Joey Laid in in the early part of the straight. RACE 3: El-Meato Butchery Class 1 Handicap 1300m Silky Mover Slipped over in the tie-up stall area and when subsequently examined by the club s veterinary officer and found to be lame in its near fore leg and have abrasions to both front legs, was a late withdrawal at 1:58pm. Co-trainer Mr P Jones was advised that he would be required to provide a veterinary clearance prior to being permitted to race again. Correspondent Began awkwardly. Veselka Slow to begin. Over-raced in the middle stages. Rosaruby Raced wide throughout. Winding Road Rider app C MacFarlane reported that her mount did not travel from the 800m and after easing her mount down after the winning post said it felt uncomfortable in its action. A post-race veterinary examination of the mare did not reveal any abnormality. Phoebe s Lass Passing the 900m when racing keenly had to be restrained from the heels of Mustang Dylan which was taken in by Winding Road (app C MacFarlane) which shifted in when not clear. App C MacFarlane was reprimanded under AR137(a). Mustang Dylan Passing the 900m was taken in by Winding Road. RACE 4: Stephen Hazleton Electrical Maiden Handicap 1300m Alert Not Alarmed Slow to begin.
Magic Panther Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. Passing the 150m was eased from the heels of Costanza (M Bell) which shifted in when not quite clear. M Bell was advised to exercise more care. Luca Louis Laid in in the straight. When questioned regarding the apparent improved performance of the gelding, trainer Mr G Nickson stated that whilst the gelding had derived benefit from its first up run last start at Hawkesbury on 31 March 2016, today s performance was still somewhat of a surprise. Lightning Lockie Passing the 900m was eased away from the heels of Giant s Daughter (app Ms K Nisbet) which shifted in when not quite clear. App Ms K Nisbet was advised to exercise more care. Magic Panther Raced wide throughout. RACE 5: Wedding & Events Specialists Benchmark 60 Handicap 1300m Svaavarsson Knuckled on jumping. Dominant Choice A pre-race veterinary examination of the mare which had an abrasion to its off-hock passed the mare fit to start. Rider B Spriggs reported that upon pulling up his mount felt uncomfortable in its action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in its off-foreleg and off-hind leg. Trainer Mr J Austin was told that he would be required to provide a veterinary clearance prior to the mare being permitted to race again. Hotel Moskva Had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the straight. Passing the 250m had to be angled out to continue into clear running. RACE 6: Goulburn Express Freight Maiden Plate 1500m Baroness Snow As app J Innes was indisposed Stewards permitted A Layt to be substituted as the rider of the mare. App Innes was told that he must provide a doctor s certificate prior to being permitted to ride again. Chakana Slow to begin. Go benny Slow to begin. Trajectory Slow to begin (2L). All About Magic Passing the 300m was held up for clear running. In My Image Held up in the early part of the straight and passing the 300m was shifted to the inside of Brahmastra to obtain clear running. Held up again near the 100m. RACE 7: Radio 2ST Benchmark 64 Handicap 1600m Law Of the Land Trainer Mr N Gardner was fined the sum of $50 under LR35 for the late declaration of app W Costin as the rider of the gelding.
La Charge Slow to begin. Cries Of Joy Slow to begin (2L). Torio Away Bumped on jumping by Magic Franco. Heza Clown Raced wide throughout. Pyramid Prince After the 1400m after being crossed by Episodes (B El-Issa) soon after had to be restrained from the heels of that runner for some distance after when it was steadied by its rider and lost ground. B El-Issa was spoken to about unnecessarily restraining his mount which placed Pyramid Prince in an awkward position on his mount s heels. As a consequence Pyramid Prince then over-raced and pulled its way forward and was thereafter obliged to race wide throughout. * Swab samples were obtained from all winners.
