December 18, 2018 Volume XVII, Issue 4 Inside this Issue: 1 Notes from your director 1 FAQ s 2 Rehearsal Calendar 3 Season Schedule 4 Contact Info 4 Important notes 5 Program Ad Form 6 T-Shirt Order Form Over our holiday break we plan to get a great deal accomplished, yet have some fun. We are planning to do some HYPE days so dress accordingly. Thursday: Crazy Sock Day! Friday: Post Christmas Hype Day! Saturday: Glitter and Sparkle Day! Notes from your Director I want to start off by saying how thankful I am to this program and the work that everyone has put in so far. The three teams are off to a great start. Shows are starting to take form and shape and we may have some of the strongest starts in our history. KEEP THIS MOMENTUM GOING!!!! I also would like to share that we have brought in about $1800 through the fundraisers so far to benefit the Boosters and our programs. This is great, but there is more work to be done to make the trips and expenses of this season more cost effective for our members. Please Please Please we are looking for as close to full participation on all future fundraisers so keep up the good work on that end. Lastly make sure to notify a staff member of all absences, injuries or issues. If you let a staff member know that is the most direct form of communication, if you ask a friend to tell a staff member.who knows if that information will get to them, or if it will be correct. Use the remind101 app if you will be late, sick, or need to share any issues with your staff. Thank you for understanding. Also remember that GRADES and ATTENDANCE are the strongest factors in allowing your child the ability to perform. Please adhere to all school rules and policies when it comes to these two factors. Happy Holidays and rest up for WINTER CAMP DAYS!!! Mr. Nicholas Gerling FAQ s Does Winterguard practice on weekends and holidays? YES! You can expect Saturday practices to start on November 24th and we WILL rehearse over Christmas and Winter break during the week. All holiday Rehearsals are mandatory. Does Winterguard practice if there is a snow day or after-school activities are cancelled? NO, if after school activities are cancelled or there is a snow day, winter guard will also be cancelled. Do you receive a list of absent students from each school? NO, please email if your child was sick from school as ngerling@phoenixcsd.org. Also send in a note for any absence. 4 or more absences of any reason may result in being made an alternate or removal from the program. ATTENDANCE IS THE KEY TO SUCCESS! Do my grades affect my ability to participate and perform? 100% YES! All students will follow the current policies on academic eligibility. If you are failing 1 to 2 classes you may still have the ability to participate and perform, however 3 or more will remove the ability to perform and limit the ability to participate. How can I help support the Winterguard program? Become a booster member (only $1) and attend meetings once a month. The next meeting is Tuesday December 4 th at 6:30 at JCB. Also consider becoming a Volunteer to work home shows or be on our floor crew. As always the easiest way to help you and your child financially through this program is to FUNDRAISE, FUNDRAISE, FUNDRAISE!!! Who do I get a hold off if there is something going on with my child? First you will want to go to their specific director their information is on page 4 of the weekly, however if you do not feel comfortable you can always come to me, Nicholas Gerling, with any questions of concerns.
