Over A Coffee (Ramblings from a caffeine addicted broad) Hi Everyone I m really sorry this newsletter was so late. Life just has a way of getting out of control at this time of year and 2015 has been nuts! I was in a shop the other day and all they could talk about is that it is not long till Christmas - God help me, just the thought of trying to figure out what to get everyone for Christmas (and Don and Erin (daughter) birthdays which are right after) makes me break out into a sweat! Still we have lots more fun to be had at camera club before the end of the year. I sure Barry and Anne are feeling the pressure. Two new jobs, selling a house, buying a house and moving house in a couple of months would be enough to send anyone grey! As Anne is somewhat busy at the moment I am afraid you will have to put up with the ramblings of the original caffeine addicted broad for the next few months until the committee organize another victim (I mean volunteer). A great time was had by all that attended the Karangahake Gorge outing in October. I missed it as I was a wee bit unwell coming down with a cold. With Bone Art ramping up for the Christmas rush not being 100% was not an option Don would kill me and the customers would not be happy either. Speaking of ramping up, we noticed a nice upturn in business once the All Blacks reached the quarter finals. Even had a nice order from a French man, placed just hours after they lost the match nice to know he didn t hold a grudge. More orders as the All Blacks progressed and quite a few from our friends across the ditch, though they may have been Aussie/kiwis celebrating! Your hardworking committee have a planning day planned in late November to work out next years calendar. If you have some thoughts on what you would like to happen next year please let one of us know. We endeavor to try to meet most peoples expectations but we are not mind readers and would love your feedback. It looks amazing! Bill, Don, Bev, Lynn, Linda and myself spent a busy morning on Saturday putting it up. 2
Bill, always the engineer had it all organized with reference lines, a level and a specially designed measuring block to make sure that the prints were straight and even. Congratulations to everyone who put prints forward. They all look fantastic. It is running until the 17 November so you have plenty of time to get to see it. Looking for more feedback and photo s to see during the month? Join the Images face book page you ll find a bit of a laugh, gossip and photography at hand. Honesty it is worth it, you don t have to be posting lots of stuff (I almost never do) but it is a way of keeping in touch. Also don t forget to keep an eye on our web site www.images.org.nz. Stu does a fantastic job of keeping the site current and up to date. You will find out all the information you need on the club, how to contact the committee & check ou the gallery to see members work. Looking forward to seeing you all next week. Heather 3
Karangahake Gorge Outing By Bev McIntyre Sunday 18 th November saw 10 people gather at the café in Karangahake Gorge to fuel up before crossing the river and beginning the other part of the outing, the actual taking of photos. Then a crisis came about when Julie was faced with not one, but two swing bridges to cross. Having a long held fear of swing bridges, she had to be encouraged across while access was blocked to every else. It was a case of either cross the bridges or sit on the other side all day. Bridges crossed, then on to taking photos. Gary had his new toy, a big stopper ND which he was keen to try. Stu spent some time helping him with settings and then Gary was left to practise and play. Anne & Barry had put packing on hold to have a brief respite from the trials of moving house and took some photos of the river before heading back to Pukekohe. Margaret, one of our newest members, and her sister Mary arrived in style in a campervan with all home comforts. I think the club should have one for outings!! The rest of us, namely Bill, Stu, Ian, Julie & Bev headed up the steps, hundreds of them it seemed, through the tunnels & back down to the river. What an awesome place to visit. I, as in Bev, have travelled through the gorge on many occasions throughout my life but had never stopped there. Another great day was had with like-minded people. The committee have organised some fabulous outings this year and I look forward to seeing what it comes up with for next year. Whatever they are I intend to be there, come hell or high-water. (Art s working on the high-water bit.) 4

What the Images Club means to Bill When I joined the club many years ago I had a wee Sony Cyber-shot 5.0 mega pixels Today I shoot with a Canon7D Mark 11 20.2 mega pixels and a little Fujifilm 100s When I joined I was asked by Michelle what camera I used I was expecting to see a horrid look on her face, but to my surprise she said that s cool and asked me about the camera and how I used it. She also said you can have a really good camera and take really bad shots and have I proved her right on many occasions, We are so busy now with the demands of work and home it leaves little time to do something to help one switch it all off just for a little while, and for me its Images, I like the fact it is not just another version work and its demands but more relaxed and friendly. I also like how people are willing to help you with whatever technique or skill you are trying to learn like today, after our outing to Karangahaki Gorge last weekend Stu took a few to interested people to learn more about ND filters and how to photo water over the long weekend Like in this shot I took, Oh that s Stu just standing right in front its ok though he is using a Nikon and needs to get closer There are many people like Stu in the club willing to help teach members so they can improve their skills and feel good about picking up their camera and taking some shots and enjoying the results, or on my case sometimes not enjoy. I joined the committee to help as I want Images to be around for a long time to come and it s not fair to expect the same people to do the job forever, It s a fairly relaxing job really now that all the hard graft has been done by the earlier committees. As my technical skill level is not that good joining the committee lets me help in other ways, Its lovely to be in a group of so many diverse (weird) people and all enjoying the same hobby Looking forward to seeing you all on Nov 10 th Regards Bill 6
