Amendments to the 2018 JWC Criteria Background The National Committee (NAC) at its recent meeting decided to review the selection criteria for the Junior World Championships given the 2018 event is being held in New Zealand. At this meeting, given the proximity to Australia, it was decided to temporarily broaden the selection criteria to allow additional opportunities for selection should quota spots remain unfilled following the application of the initial published criteria. Skiers will be selected to compete at the 2018 Junior World Championships in in New Zealand in two stages: Stage 1 Selections will be made as per the published selection criteria on the following pages which has been available on the SSA website. Stage 2 Should any quota spots remain unfilled following the application of Stage 1, additional athletes (per gender) may be selected using the following discretionary selection criteria. Priority will be given to athletes who have met NAST SX criteria and ranked by Major Event Matrix. Athletes must have competed in FIS ANC/NorAm/EC SX events during the FIS 2017/18 season. Athletes must have a minimum of 35 FIS Freestyle SX Points Athlete Physical Fitness Level Discretionary selections will be made by the Selection Committee named by the National Committee and outlined in the following Criteria document. Ski & Snowboard Australia Limited (SSA) Sport: Discipline(s): Level: Events: Gender: Skiing Skiing (ALP) (SX) National Ski Team (NAST) World Cup (WC) World Ski Championships (WSC) World Junior Championships (WJC) Male/Female 1. Objective To develop and support highly skilled skiers capable of achieving success at World Cup, World Championships and Olympic Winter Games, Note: By meeting this SSA it does not automatically qualify an athlete for support and/or consideration for selection to an Olympic Winter Institute of Australia (OWIA) Athlete Contract or scholarship opportunity offered via the SIS/SAS network. 2. Selection Committee 2.1 The selection committee for Skiing events will comprise the SSA Director, the National Committee (NAC) Chair and up to two other members as appointed by the NAC. 2.2 The selection committee for events will comprise the SSA Director, the OWIA Head Coach, the NAC Chair and up to two other members as appointed by the NAC. 2.3 A majority decision of the selection committee is required. The decision of the selection committee shall be final. Reasons shall not be given for any selection or other decision of the selection committee unless requested by non-selected athlete(s). The selection committee may meet with non-selected athletes to explain their decision. 2.4 Unless expressly requested by the selection committee, athletes have no right to make submissions or representations to, or appear before, the selection committee. Any right or claim to natural justice in this regard is expressly excluded, such right being preserved in the appeal process under section 12. 2.5 Selections made by the selection committee are subject to final approval by the SSA Board. 2

3. Eligibility To be eligible for selection to the NAST, athletes must: 3.1 Be an Australian Citizen; 3.2 Be a current member of SSA in good standing; 3.3 Hold an SSA/ FIS license to compete at the relevant level; 3.4 comply with SSA Policies, including but not limited to: 3.4.1 the World Anti-Doping Code; 3.4.2 the SSA Anti-Doping Policy and the SSA Anti-Doping Declaration; 3.4.3 the SSA Member Protection Policy and Codes of Conduct; 3.4.4 the SSA Travel Policy; 3.4.5 the SSA Media Policy; 3.4.6 the SSA Anti-Race-Fixing By Law 3.5 Sign and comply with the terms of the NAST Athlete Agreement; 3.6 Complete and submit an Individual Performance Plan (IPP) detailing their annual training and competition plan and including information on their coach, manager and athlete contact details to the SSA Director; 3.7 Athletes who have previously declined or have been deemed ineligible for NAST selection may not be automatically be considered for selection, irrespective of results achieved. A request for consideration must be lodged with the SSA Director in these circumstances. 4. Age Limits The FIS competition year is July 1 st - June 30 th of the following year. In order to compete in international competitions (except U16 - U14 competitions) a competitor must be no younger than age group U18. 5. 6. NAST Selection Criteria World Rank (WR) The World Rank is based on The Base FIS Points List (BL). Details regarding the timing and rules for calculating the BL can be found under section 4 of the Rules for The FIS Points, via the FIS website (www.fisski.com). Only results and rankings from the current season will be considered by the Selection Criteria. NAST (A), (B), (C), Development Team Athletes that have achieved the Qualification Standards listed (A), (B), (C) and Development Team, are eligible to be considered for the National Ski Team. Athlete Obligations to NAST 7.1 Medical Clearance All members of the NAST are required to inform the SSA Program Director of any injury or illness that could reasonably impact on the athlete s ability to perform at the level expected of the athlete at the respective Major Event. If a NAST athlete is assessed as injured or ill, the athlete may be required to receive medical clearance by a qualified physician in accordance with the NAC Screening Protocol. Athletes are required to consult with the SSA Program Director regarding the NAC Screening Protocol. It is also the responsibility of the athlete to notify the SSA office at the time of injury in order to have their FIS points frozen. 7.2 Compliance and Athlete Monitoring 5

Selection and Provisional Selection to the NAST is subject to the athlete signing an SSA Athlete Agreement. Athletes must also: 7.2.1 Complete and submit an Individual Performance Plan (IPP) detailing their annual training and competition plan and including information on their coach, manager and athlete contact details to the SSA Director; 7.2.2 Undertake an annual performance program review with the SSA Director or designated coach as part of the athlete performance management process; and 7.2.3 Ongoing compliance with athlete reporting obligations, including the timely completion of training diaries and monitoring systems as implemented by the SSA Director 8. Major Event Selection Matrix Athletes selected to the NAST, who meet the Selection Criteria according to Clause 6 at any point in the current FIS calendar year will be eligible for selection at the respective Major Event, listed in the below Matrix. Final and World Cup entries are at the discretion of the Selection Committee. 9. Provisional Selection At the discretion of the Selection Committee, Provisional Selection may be made when an athlete has not met the NAST Qualifications Standards in full, as outlined in Section 6 of this Selection Policy. Provisional selection does not necessarily confer any right to access any funding, support and/ or benefits that may otherwise be available to NAST athletes that meet the respective NAST Selection Criteria in full. 10. Timing With respect to Section 6 of the SSA NAST Selection Criteria, timing of athlete selections for the 2018/19 season will be as follows: 6

10.1 WR (Base FIS Points List) publication: Internal Base FIS Points Lis (used for Selection purposes): 19/4/2018 1 ST FIS Points List: 1/7/2018 Details regarding the rules for calculating the BL can be found under section 4 of the Rules for The FIS Points, via the FIS website (www.fisski.com). 10.2 NAST (A), (B), (C), Development Team Athletes that have achieved NAST A), (B), (C) and Development Team Selection Criteria are eligible to be considered for naming to the 2018/19 NAST. Selection Announcement: 1/6/2018 11. Extenuating Circumstances 12 Appeals 11.1 In considering the selection criteria, the selection committee may in their discretion give weight to extenuating circumstances. Extenuating circumstances may include but are not limited to injury, personal bereavement, equipment failure and travel delays. 11.2 Athletes unable to compete at events, trials, training camps required under these criteria must notify the SSA of this fact and the reasons therefore at least five days prior to the commencement of the events, trials, training camps or other attendances required under this policy. 11.3 In the case of illness or injury, athletes may be required to undergo a medical examination by a doctor or doctors appointed by SSA. 11.4 In the case of bereavement, equipment failure, travel delays, or other extenuating circumstances, the selection committee will make a decision on a case by case basis.
