Tournament Information LOCATION: First United Methodist Church of Blue Springs 301 SW Woods Chapel Road, Blue Springs, Missouri 64015 DATE: Saturday, April 14, 2012 SCHEDULE: Competition for ages 9 and below will begin at 10am. Competition for ages 10-13 will begin at approx. 12:30pm Competition for ages 14 and older will begin at approx. 3pm Competition times include Traditional Forms, Creative Forms, Weapon forms and Sparring. Athletes need to be at the gym at least 15 minutes prior to competition time in order to check in and warm up. ENTRY FEE: $50.00 per person for any 2 events, $5.00 for each additional event. Registration deadline is Friday, April 6th. All registration must be received by Friday, April 6th. There will be no registration after April 6th or at the door. AAU MEMBERSHIP: This is an AAU Sanctioned Event. All athletes and coaches must be current members of the AAU. Membership can be obtained at www.aausports.org. Copy of membership card must be included with your registration. COACHES: All coaches must take the online coaches course for 2012. Coaches will not be allowed to coach without completion of the online course. Official coaching shirt and attire is required. AWARDS: AAU Championship medals will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Participation ribbons will be presented to all athletes. Explanation of Qualifying and Non-Qualifying Divisions Qualifying Divisions: Traditional Forms and Olympic Sparring Divisions qualify athletes to participate in the National Taekwondo Championships in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and the Junior Olympic Games in Houston, Texas. For rules governing Olympic Sparring, please see the rules for Olympic Sparring at www.aautaekwondo.org. Traditional Forms consist of the forms listed in the AAU Rules Handbook. They include ITF, WTF and TSD/MDK Forms. Non-Qualifying Divisions: Creative Forms and Weapon Forms will not qualify athletes for either the National Championships or the Junior Olympic Games. Creative Forms are those patterns/forms other than the ones listed in the AAU Handbook. Weapon Forms include any of the following Traditional Kobudo Weapons: Bo; Tonfa; Sais; Nunchucks; Kama. Music will not be allowed for any Creative or Weapon Form. Creative and Weapon Forms are individual events.

2010 AAU MISSOURI VALLEY OFFICIALS CLINIC Friday, April 13 5:00-10:00PM (Registration at 4:30pm) In order to coach or officiate at any AAU Sanctioned event, coaches and/or officials must become certified through the AAU Taekwondo Program. Coaches can now become certified through the Online Coaching Certification at www.aautaekwondo.org. Anyone wishing to become certified as an official must attend an Officials Clinic. This clinic covers the rules of the AAU Taekwondo Program and is designed to keep you informed of current rules and rule changes within the AAU Taekwondo Program. This allows you to keep yourself and your athletes informed of all important information. Coaches who have already become certified through the Online Course ARE NOT CHARGED AN ADDITIONAL FEE when they take the officials clinic.
