New for 2013 Valleys Velo Sportive will bring together, spectacular rolling mountain scenery, classic climbs with amazing views and fast descents as it threads its way through the ex mining landscape of the Welsh Valleys. REGISTRATION event info Registration will open at 7.00am. Participants cannot register on behalf of one or more other riders On the morning you will need to pick up from the registration desk an event pack Sign on / Registration Will all riders proceed to the sign on area. It will be divided into 4 stations. For example; A -J -K-T and U-Z (also on the day entries and queries). Rider numbers and zip ties will be given when you give us your surname. Please make sure you are in the correct queue. 1. To Sign On collect your rider number and zip ties. Queue in the correct line corresponding with your surname. i.e. A-J K-T U-Z (and on the day entries and queries) 2. When you have your rider number, proceed with your number, to collect your lanyard and timing chip. 3. ONLY when you are ready to leave, i.e. have your bike, helmet, telephone, money, spares, drink and food, been to the Toilet, had your last chat etc. GO TO THE START where your timing chip on the lanyard will be swiped with your individual start time before you leave. WHAT TO BRING? Please insure you have the minimum with you on the ride. We Recommend 2 spare Innertubes Puncture kit Pump Multitool Food and Gels Water Bottle Mobile Phone Spare Change ID with name address and contact Number - You can Download our template at www.thebicycledoctor.com The Bicycle Doctor will provide support but please make sure your bike is in good working order before the event. Participants are welcome to change to the shorter routes but please inform us on the finish line. Late arrivals may still ride the route and be timed for one hour after. Riders concerned about completing in the time available are urged to start as early as possible. SIGNAGE CAUTION!! Route will be marked where possible, However please ensure you familiarize yourself with the route using the map in this pack. We recommend you print out the route card and ID card at www.thebicycledoctor.com before the event PLEASE Take note of any CAUTION SIGNS They will be there for a reason Please note the position of our arrows. They are high to try and avoid them being tampered with. All Route Arrows for this event are YELLOW with black arrows, We also identify with signage the split between the EPIC and Standard routes. FOOD AND DRINK We will provide snacks and water at the feed stations. Please do not rely on this service and make sure you have enough food and water to complete the event. FINISH Your time will be recorded, Please make sure you cross the finish line. Rules and Regulations 1. All riders must be over over 18 years of age on the day of registration. 2. All riders must register to receive their numbers and chip timing device either on the day or on the Friday or Saturday (see registration opening times). 3. Entries are not transferable. Failure to abide will result in disqualification for both parties for this and future events. 4. Participants are responsible for the safe working order of their own bikes. 5. Participants must carry food and drink, a mobile phone, at least 2 spare inner tubes, a working pump, a basic tool kit, spare clothing in the event of changes to or possible adverse weather conditions. 6. No bicycle, tandem or other machine, is permitted to have unconventional handlebars including triathlon bars, aero bars, clip-ons, prayer bars, cow bars or spinachi bars. However, ATB bar ends are permitted on mountain bikes. 7. You must obey all Highway Code Rules. As a participant it is your responsibility to follow Highway Code at all times. You are requested to ride in single file where appropriate and no more than 2 abreast at anytime. Please be aware of other traffic and fellow cyclists especially when overtaking. 8. It is mandatory that all participants wear an approved safety helmet complying to ANSI Z90.4, SNELL B90, EN 1078 or equivalent national standard and must be worn at all times during the event.must be in good condition and less than 2 years old 9. Participants must not use mobile phones while riding. Please stop at the roadside when it is safe to do so if you need to make or receive a call. 10. Personal music players with headphones must not be used during the event. 11. Mobile support vehicles are strictly forbidden and will lead to disqualification. 12. Support vehicles will be available out on the course for any rider who decides not to complete the course and will be transported back to the finish.

In a real emergency dial 999. We provide First Aid at start and finish plus mobile emergency unit on route Insurance The event is covered by British Cycling. However we advise that participants should also have their own cover. Facilities - On Site Overnight accommodation is available from 10.00 per night. Caravan accommodation consists of 35 hard standing pitches with electric hook ups and an amenity block with showers, laundry, washing up and disposal facilities. Purpose built campsite with 60 tent pitches and electric hook ups and access to amenity block. Hotel accommodation is also available in a 15 bedroom block suitable for families, couples and groups (by prior arrangement). New redesigned Café and Restaurant offers you the opportunity to relax before and after the event. Finish When you return to the finish at Dare Valley, after your ride, make sure you go to the clearly marked Finish area IMMEDIATELY. Ride to the first marshalls and get your timing chip swiped. Proceed a little further and get signed off to receive your time. Please Hand In Your Timing Card And Lanyard Your timing card MUST be handed into the organising team ON THE DAY and preferably at the finish. Even if you retire during the event. This is an essential safety requirement of the event and failure to do so could result in an unnecessary search by rescue organisations. There will be a charge of 30 and you could be disqualified from taking part in a future event. Participants certificate A certificate for all finishing participants will be available to download. Individual times will be posted on the web. It is also our intention that photographs will be posted on line. Reminders We advise all participants to carry spares, a mobile phone, I.D. some nutrition and emergency cash All riders must wear a helmet. None of the events are races. These are mass participation events only, and are not meant as a test of speed. Please abide by the Highway Code at all times.
