Invitation 10MILA 2008 The association OrienteringsRingen i Uppland (ORU) welcomes orienteers and spectators to the 63 rd men's relay, 32 nd women's relay, 17 th junior relay, and the first open and precisionorienteering relays. The competition takes place 26 27 April 2008, with the competition centre at Rosersberg Castle in Sigtuna. In this relay, all teams may take part, for instance belonging to associations, companies, or authorities either in Sweden or abroad. Indeed, any groups are welcome to take part in this class. Map The map scale is 1:10000 in all classes, with counter interval 2.5 meters. Offset printed. Maps were drawn in 2001 and 2007, and revised in 2008. In the men's relay, leg 4 (long night) and leg 10 will have 1:15000 maps. The Pre-O relay has maps at 1:5000. Terrain description Broken terrain with small height differences, mostly good runnability, although occassionally rocky ground. The longer courses have a number of steep slopes. The whole area is rich in tracks and paths, and interspersed with agricultural land. There are limited areas of bushy and brashed forest. GPS-tracking GPS Tracking will be used during 10MILA 2008, on a number of legs in the women's and men's relays. Which legs it will be will be announced in the competition-pm (final information) and at www.10mila.se. Equipment for GPS Tracking will be supplied by the organizers. The organizers decide which teams should carry tracking equipment no later than 1 hour before the start of the given leg. Teams which do not agree to carry the equipment for GPS Tracking will be disqualified immediately from the competition. Assembly/Competition centre Rosersberg Casle. Entry Entries should reach the organizers by 31 March 2008 at the latest, via www.10mila.se. That applies to team entries, hiring SI-cards, accommodation (floorspace), hiring military tents, and pitches for caravans, tents, and club tents. Entries will only be registered after all payments have reached the organizers. The total amount to pay is shown on www.10mila.se at the time of entry. Entry via www.10mila.se will be confirmed by e-mail, and can be checked in the entry register after the entry has reached the organizers. Late or non-payment will lead to the entry being treated as a late entry. Entry on www.10mila.se is expected to open 15 October 2007. Late entry Entries and payments arriving after 31 March 2008 and up to 19 April 2008 will be treated as late entries, and lead to 50 percent higher fees. Payments made after 19 April, including at the competition centre on 26 April, lead to 100 percent higher fees. Team entries can be made at the competition centre, at double normal fees. Team composition Individual runners may only compete in one relay team. Combination teams, according to SOFT's competition rules, are allowed. The names of the team members, running order, and numbers of the SI-cards, must be reported via www.10mila.se, by Wednesday April 23, 20:00. Note that an SI-card may only be used once during the 10mila weekend. At the competition centre we have a service where we match juniors without a team with junior teams needing extra runners. Punching system SportIdent. Own SI-cards may be used. Note that it is not possible to hire SI-cards for parts of a team. Some type 6 SI-cards will be available for hire, subject to availability. Camping and accommodation Sites for caravans and tents are available close to the assembly area; use the area designated. Military tents can be rented, pre-pitched. Pitches for club tents at the competition centre (max. height 3 metres) may be hired. Floorspace may also be rented. Places must be booked and paid for in conjunction with competition entries. Note that payments are based on the number of bookings. It will also be possible to hire larger 'party' tents and additional equipment, at the competition centre.
