Statement of Purpose and Expectation Lakeland Lancer Band Keeping with tradition, the Lancer Band will perform in many concerts, marching performances and community events throughout the year. It is mandatory that all members of the band participate in all of the band s performances. Missing rehearsals will affect your grade and the success of the entire band. The performance schedule includes: (our 4 concert series at Lakeland) The Veteran s Day Concert, Lakeland Music Department Holiday Concert, The Winter Concert (with 8 th grade band members), Spring Concert, St.Patrick s Day Parade (Ringwood), Memorial Day Parade (Wanaque), 3 Band Festivals and Varsity Football games. All events are scheduled in advance to provide you with ample time to plan. The band is a regularly scheduled class which meets Block 5 every other day and rehearses Tuesday evenings throughout the year from 6:30-9:30. All of which are mandatory participation for band membership. (extra ensembles as jazz band and pit orchestra are extensions of the program.) The marching band is a valuable ingredient in a complete band educational experience and part of the Lakeland Band commitment. It is the Lakeland Band s tradition that every member participates in all the band s activities and we are one band. The only exemptions from marching band will be conflicts with varsity football schedules or for those with medical excuses. In addition to the Tuesday evening rehearsals, Saturday morning rehearsals are scheduled for the Fall Season, from September to the beginning of November. The Color Guard is an integral part of the Lancer Band throughout the year. Our color guard members work and perform with the band in all the fall activities and performances as well as parades and spring tour. All members are obligated to attend all rehearsals as scheduled. Commitment and Communication is the key to our success!
