Greetings from your Host Committee A message from the Host Committee Chair Greetings folks ---- The Scotties Tournament of Hearts is one of the most prestigious national sports championships in Canada and we all are very proud that we will be hosting this exciting event from February 16 to 24, 2013. Thank you very much for your support of the Kingston 2013 Scotties as a volunteer or sponsor. While most of us have been enjoying the fantastic summer weather the 2013 Scotties Paint the Town volunteer crew, under the direction of Betty Bush, has been very, very busy promoting The Scotties at over sixteen Kingston area events. They have worked hundreds of hours to spread the word that to enjoy the experience of the Scotties, You Gotta Be There! Our Executive Committee of Larke Zarichny (Hosting), Janice Ray (Special Events) and Brian Ward (Facilities) has also been busy preparing for the start of committee work. Soon it will be time for all of us to start working on making the 2013 Scotties a great success. Our organization is in place and shortly volunteers will be advised of their committee work assignments. But right now all volunteers can get to work by helping promote ticket sales to friends and family and business associates. We need your enthusiastic support to make the event a financial success --- which will benefit all five clubs in the Greater Kingston Area Curling Association. The K-Rock Centre will be the place to be to be thrilled by all the exciting curling action and the Memorial Centre will be the place to be to enjoy all the entertainment and food, fun and fellowship of the HeartStop Lounge. It has been over fifty years since a Canadian curling championship has been staged in Kingston. The 2013 Scotties is a fantastic opportunity to showcase Kingston and to put Kingston on the Canadian curling map. It is up to us all to ensure that the 2013 Scotties is a huge success --- for the competitors, for visiting curling fans and for curling in the greater Kingston area. So let us all spread the word!!!! You Gotta Be There!!!!! It ll be a blast!!!! Greetings from the Canadian Curling Association A message from the Chief Executive Officer As the Chief Executive Officer for the Canadian Curling Association (CCA), it is my privilege and honour to extend my warmest greetings to all the volunteers who have made the commitment to be part of the 2013 Scotties Tournament of Hearts. We are extremely proud and delighted to have Kingston host the 2013 Scotties Tournament of Hearts. Lets work together to make this a memorable event for all to enjoy! Over the last number of years, our organization has undergone some significant changes in leadership, governance and our financial model. This past year, the CCA was able to build on our success as an organization, whereby we announced that we had another successful year at the most recent 2012 National Curling Congress this summer. The CCA is genuinely excited to have the historic City of Kingston play host to the 2013 Scotties Tournament of Hearts. The CCA is always proud to be able to see our events hosted in new locations, and therefore it is great to see one of the premier curling events in the world finally coming to this special location. It will be Kingston s turn to shine and we feel that its geographic location will attract not only local curling enthusiasts from Kingston and surrounding communities, but our hopes are that Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal all capitalize on the close proximity to take in this curling spectacle. I would like to take this opportunity to formally challenge you, the volunteers, to help motivate everyone in Kingston, to purchase tickets to fill the K Rock Centre and make this year s Scotties the event of the year. Attendance is a key factor to any event and I would like to call on all of our volunteers, to spread your enthusiasm, via word of mouth, to help promote this event. Your active role in this capacity is tremendous support which we really appreciate. The Canadian Curling Association would, again, like to acknowledge the support of the longeststanding sponsor of amateur sport in Canada Kruger Products. This will mark the 32 nd year of Kruger s unprecedented support of curling and the Tournament of Hearts. We are extremely proud and delighted to have Kingston host the 2013 Scotties Tournament of Hearts. Please understand that our organization recognizes and truly appreciates that this event simply could not happen without you. To every single volunteer no matter what role you play welcome aboard and I hope you have a fantastic time throughout your volunteer role. Lets work together to make this a memorable event for all to enjoy! Warmest regards, Greg Stremlaw Chief Executive Officer Canadian Curling Association 1660 Vimont Court, Cumberland, Ontario, K4A 4J4 Phone: (613) 834-2076 / Fax: (613) 834-0716 Website: www.curling.ca

We had a great crew of people donating their time at the following events: - Farmer s Market Canada Day Sidewalk Sale Buskerfest Rose of Hope Charity Golf Tournament Princess St. Promenade K-Town Triathlon 1000 Islands Poker Run Limestone City Blues Festival A huge thanks goes out to every one of you, we could not have done all of this without your generous donation of time and energy! A few messages from our Corporate Sponsors Title Sponsor Kruger Products and its parent company, Kruger Inc., would like to extend a sincere thank you to the splendid 2013 Scotties Tournament of Hearts volunteers. Curling is very important to all of us at Kruger Products. We are very proud to be the longest corporate sponsor of amateur sport in Canada and because of you; we are able to continue our support of women s curling. Scotties facial tissue, Cashmere and Purex bathroom tissue and SpongeTowels paper towels have been proud sponsors of the championship, and the 11 provincial and territorial championships leading up to it, since 1982. We ll be making history once again when the Scotties Tournament of Hearts comes to Kingston for the very first time next year, from February 16-24, 2013. Kingston s scenic waterway will serve as the backdrop for the classic curling championship. We re extremely pleased with the enthusiasm of the community and the interest of so many people to get involved in this year s Scotties Tournament of Hearts, without your help, hospitality and passion the Canadian Championship would not be possible. Again, thank you for your many contributions. Your support is very much appreciated.
