USU is 15-13 all-time against the Redhawks including a 5-8 road record, and 33-13 all-time against the Vandals including a 15-7 road record. L, 60-80 --- at New Mexico State W, 69-65 --- at Louisiana Tech Utah State posted a 1-1 road record last week as it lost at New Mexico State (80-60) and defeated Louisiana Tech (69-65). Against NMSU, junior forward Kyisean Reed scored 18 points and senior point guard Brockeith Pane added 16 points. USU finished the game shooting 40.0 percent (20-50), including 18.8 percent from three-point range (3-16) and 63.0 percent at the free throw line (17-27). NMSU shot 49.2 percent (30-61), including 25.0 percent from three (3-12) and 58.6 percent at the line (17-29). Against the Bulldogs, Pane scored a career-high 24 points, while Reed and sophomore guard Preston Medlin each added 11 points. Medlin also had a careerhigh nine rebounds and Reed grabbed eight. USU shot 49.1 percent (26-53), including 22.2 percent from behind the arc (2-9) and 65.2 percent at the charity stripe (15-23). LTU finished the game shooting 38.7 percent (24-62), including 41.4 percent from three-point range (12-29) and 50.0 percent at the free throw line (5-10). WoMEN S TENNIS... Against the Lady Techsters, Christensen scored 20 points, while Brown and Jackson each scored 17 points. Contact: Travis Hansen (435) 512-5861 Fri.-Sat., Jan. 20-21 --- at New Mexico Invitational, Utah State s indoor track and field teams will continue its 2012 season on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 20-21 when it travels to Albuquerque, N.M. to compete in the Cherry and Silver Invitational. --- at Idaho State Open Utah State indoor track & field had a solid weekend at the Idaho State Snake River Open on Saturday collecting eight wins, including seven field events, on the way to 21 top three finishes. Sophomore Chari Hawkins won the Aggies lone running event by taking the title in the 60m hurdles, breaking the tape in 8.40, and also won the long jump with a leap of 18-7.25 (5.67m). Junior Bri Campbell won the high jump with a height of 5-5.00 (1.65m). Sophomore Keeley Eldredge took top honors in the weight throw with a distance of 53-5.00 (16.29m). Senior Sonia Grabowska won the pole vault with a 12-5.50 (3.80m) mark, while fellow senior Spela Hus won the shot put with a 45-10.00 (13.97m). On the men s side, sophomore Bryce Hall won the weight throw with a distance of 58-6.00 (17.84m), while senior Joe Canavan won the shot put with a mark of 54-1.25 (16.49m). Other women s top marks were freshman Melanie Heslop (40-2.25/12.25m) and Eldredge (39-6.00/12.04m) finishing second and third, respectively, behind Hus in the shot put. Sophomore Sam Nielson finished in second-place in the triple jump with a mark of 39-0.5 (11.90m). Sophomore Daphne Jones was third in the long jump with a distance of 17-8.00 (5.38m). Senior Jennifer Schiess cleared 5-3.75 (1.62m) in the high jump for a third-place finish, matching junior Amber Thompson s place in the pole vault with a height of 11-11.75 (3.65m). Freshman Nic Bowens was second in the 60m dash with a 6.91 time, just ahead of sophomore teammate Silas Pimentel, who was third with a 6.94. Sophomore A.J. Boully was second in the 200m with a time of 22.26. Senior Damian Szade was second in the long jump with a mark of 21-11.50 (6.69m), one spot ahead of freshman teammate Travis Johnson, who had a distance of 21-8.00 (6.60m). Canavan was also fourth in the weight throw with a toss of 53-0.00 (16.16m). Johnson led a 2-3- 4 Aggie finish in the triple jump, with a 45-10.75 (13.99m) mark, while sophomore Reagan Ward was third with a 45-5.00 (13.84m) mark and junior Kenny Hamlett was fourth with a jump of 45-00.25 (13.72m). L 191.925-197.400 --- at #5 Utah Utah State gymnastics scored a 191.925 in its 2012 season-opener Friday at Utah while the fifth-ranked Utes notched a 197.400. The Aggies recorded a 48.650 on bars, a 47.600 on vault, 47.950 on floor and a 47.725 on beam for their final score of 191.925. The Utes posted a 49.400 on vault, 49.375 on bars, 49.275 on beam and 49.350 on floor for their winning total. Freshman Sarah Landes notched a 38.825 in the all-around to finish third in her collegiate debut. Junior teammate Amelia Montoya posted a 38.000 to place fifth in the all-around. Landes also tied for fourth on the bars with a 9.825 and was the lone Aggie in the top five of any of the four events.
