We are grateful for the many people who work behind the scenes to support our Lodge, Mooseheart and Moosehaven. This was also a time to thank the 2009-2010 Board of Officers Lodge #682 and W.O.T.M. Chapter #722 for all their hard work. The current men s board provided dinner and music was provided by DJ BobbyK. Congratulations to the winners of this year awards. We have a new board with new energy to work along side the men of our Lodge to help support Mooseheart, Moosehaven and our Lodge. Plans are being made for the next years activities and we are looking for hearts, hands and ideas for upcoming activities. The next clean-up date has not been decided on so watch the newsletter and the sign-up sheet posted in the lodge by the men s weekly draw box. Scott Berke Rod and Gun News Club member Jim Jansky did some Perch fishing on Lake Michigan in early and late April. Perch up to 14 were taken. On his second trip watched as three people were rescued after their boat capsized and were pulled from 46 water. They were rushed back to Waukegan harbor with rescue people waiting for them at the dock. It took just seconds and the boat had flipped over. Members will be heading to Canada in June for some fine fishing. In July members will be Salmon fishing and bow fishing for flying carp on the IL River until late August. If you would like to join the action, stop by the Lodge the second Friday of the month at 7pm and check us out. Go Sox!!!! Go Cubs!!! John Jansky President

June/July 2010 MOOSE TRACKS PAGE 3 The Governors Article Hello Batavia 682, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Scott Berke and I m the new Governor at the Lodge. I want to thank the board of officers for the job they did last year. I want to give a special thanks to Jr. Past Governor Don Scalfaro for all the years he put in on the board. We will miss you on the board Don. I also want to thank the current board for joining me in the year to come. The volunteers are really what makes this lodge great. I want to thank all of you for what you have done in the past year and be willing to help out again this year. The most precious thing a person can give is, his or her time. I m grateful for those who are willing to give up their time this coming year for the lodge. Thanks again volunteers on a job well done!!!!!!! Remember "its not what can my lodge do for me, but what can I do for my lodge" I m looking forward to all the upcoming events we have at the lodge and working with the Women of the Moose board of officers as well. We had a fun filled dinner on May 3rd, the fried chicken was yummy and the sing-along was fun; too bad you missed it. Upcoming Dinners * June 7th will be our INDOOR PICNIC, with hamburgers and all the tasty food that goes with it and entertainment to be announced. * July 5th will be PASTA-PASTA-PASTA and entertainment to be announced. * August 2nd and either September 6th or 13 th. Details will be in next newsletter * October 4th our usual OKTOBERFEST with sauerkraut and um-pa music. * November 1st is our THANKSGIVING feast with turkey and all the trimmings. * December 6th is our CHRISTMAS event with Ham and all the goodies that go with it and Christmas carols. The VIP's invite you to join our fine group of merry men and women. We meet on the first Monday of every month at 6:00PM for conversation and drinks, we then have a fine dinner by Chef Julie and Beebe at 6:30 pm after which we have desert and entertainment-speakers-bingo-jokes (fun times). Dinner and (a show) are only $6.00. Where can you find that low price anyplace around here? So come on in the Lodge Dining Hall (it's only a few feet from the Social quarters), we are looking forward to meeting and welcoming you into our club. Elizabeth E. This is the 13 th ) year of this event and it will be held at Bliss Creek Golf Course on Saturday July 24 th. This outing is always filled with good times and memories for all that participate. So if you only play in one outing this year, come on out to Moose #682 s, because you won t be the only one who plays once a year.) The cost of this year s outing will be $75.00 (before July 5 th ) which includes golf & cart (shotgun start) and a Butt Steak dinner, beverages and door prizes back at the lodge following golf. For you non-golfers if you would like to join us for dinner the cost is $15.00 for dinner only. The golf committee is busy lining up hole sponsors, games for the golf course, and door prizes for this year s outing. If you d be interested in sponsoring a hole at this year s golf outing or making a prize donation please see Moe Parker, Julie Long or Carl Smith at the lodge or you can contact Johnny McCue at mccuebatavia@comcast Your golf committee appreciates the past support our lodge has given through donations and hole sponsorships to this event. We hope during these rough economic times you can still find a way to contribute. Also we are always looking for members who don t play golf to come out and volunteer at the course or back at the lodge. We need many volunteers for this event and it s a fun way to meet members of your lodge. If interested please see me or contact one of the people mentioned above. For golfers, the outing is a great way to introduce friends to our lodge, or join fellow members for funfilled day. Sign up Sheets will be behind the bar in the social quarters beginning June 1 st and payment is required at time of sign up. Due to the need for an accurate count for this event, those signing up after Monday, July 5 th will be charged $80.00 I, along with your golf committee, look forward to seeing you on the course. We are energized for the upcoming year and would like to renew our reasons for being active in this Chapter and we would like to get reacquainted with you. I am Karen Martinez your new Senior Regent and I know we have many members that we may not have met and I would like to invite you to come to a meeting and personally introduce myself and your new board. Bring a friend and stop in any meeting that is held on the 1 st and 3 rd Thursday of each month at 7:00 pm. The meetings traditionally don t last more than 30-45 minutes and we need your input and ideas. Exciting plans are being made for events throughout the year and we need your support and invite you to share your talents with us.
