AUGUST 12 Newsletter Page 2 P R E S I D E N T S M E S S A G E Because of the water restrictions placed upon the residents of Maumelle; there are many perceptions that we as a private club get public resources not otherwise available to the residents. In a way this is true but MCC is a vital part of Maumelle and is one of the focal points when the city recruits growth, whether it is residential or commercial in addition to the tax dollars we pay as a club. The city of Maumelle is a great partner, one that we are happy to support as I firmly believe that each of us has a great product to offer. The city has agreed to allow us to receive a limited amount of water from Lake Willastein, but only in an emergent situation. Unlike other courses in the area, we have been able to rely on our own resources for water, but even with this we still have challenges keeping our course in a condition to meet the member s and their guest expectations. The board has recognized that the emergency resource may not always be available, most especially during an extremely hot and dry period. We as a club respect the beauty and what Lake Willastein means to the city and likewise we have to respect what the city has done for MCC. The board and Jason have started looking at our pumping system and what if in the event of a failure. We feel confident that our well has enough water to sustain us through the summer, but we have to insure that we can continue to pump the water into our irrigation ponds. As you know we have taken steps to protect our course by going to cart paths only and suspending Monday afternoon play when the course starts showing stress. I know for many this is a challenge and I want to thank you for your cooperation, but also let you know that the board recognizes the future and hopes to have an emergency plan, which we will share with our membership. Likewise we know and appreciate what the residents of Maumelle are enduring and challenges at this time. Happy Hour Tues. Fri 5-7pm 10% Off Drinks Tues. Night Family691 Night Kids Eat Free w/ Adult Entrée Teresa Harrod has assumed the contract formerly held by Janice Hutchinson in obtaining new members. Teresa has an extensive background in working with and for the chamber and other member supported organizations. Through her contacts and innovation we have seen an increase in new membership. We now have visitors wanting to tour our facility on weekends and some have joined on the spot, starting as social and within a week or so converting to full active. While our new membership growth is aggressive, I feel confident that Teresa will move us much closer to those goals. Please take time to introduce yourself to Teresa and recommend anyone that you feel that might join MCC! August signals that the end of summer is fast approaching. Bill and the entertainment committee have planned events for our members and their guest. One event occurs on August 2 and gives the membership the opportunity to show our appreciation and to wish Seth, Chris and Andy the best on their futures. I, like many of you, appreciate their hard work and friendship, not only to MCC but to each of us personally. They will be missed. If all possible please take a minute to stop by and say thank you. I also want to thank everyone that made the Maumelle Classic a success. Please take a minute to thank our sponsors and show your appreciation. The tournament proceeds allowed us to contribute to the First Tee, promote our own Junior Golf Program and to support our course. I want to thank you for your continued support. While we have many challenges we have also seen a renewed interest in MCC. We have an excellent facility but the success of MCC is because of our members and again I want to end my message with special thanks to each and every one of you. Steve Hillis President MCC

Congratulations to Janet Taylor, (2012 Women s Club Champion), Okcha Johnson (Senior Women s Club Champion), Lisa Sigler (Women s Handicap Champion), and Kathe Parson (Super Senior Champion). The Men s and Seniors Club Championship will be held Friday, August 17 th Sunday, August 19 th. Check your inbox for the registration. Thank you in advance for checking in with the golf shop before you tee off. Also we appreciate your help in following the cart rules for the day. Please keep your cart on the paths around tees and greens as this will insure great turf to chip off of. We ask that you pair up on carts if possible. This will help us to not run out of carts on busy days and also help on the wear and tear on the course turf. Thank you. See you on the links! AUGUST 12 Newsletter Page 6 They receive: Come See for Yourself What A Member of Maumelle Country Club Experiences Everyday Ranked in the Top 10 Best Private Courses Introducing Our New Membership Drive for 2012: Anyone that joins MCC can do so by making an 18 month membership commitment and the initiation fee will be waived. The applicant must sign a promissory note for the 18 month term. At the end of the 18 months, the promissory note will be voided if the member has met their obligation. If a member leaves the club before the 18 month agreement expires, they are responsible for the remaining months. Regular membership dues will apply for the classification of membership obtained. The new member will be responsible for any BDC charges, food minimum in addition to their golf or club house charges. If a member upgrades their membership, they will be responsible for the remaining months at their new monthly rate. The same would apply for any increase in monthly dues. In the event the member is transferred or becomes disabled, they will be allowed to opt out of the club or transfer to a new classification, i.e. non-resident or social. A member that joined under this program will not be able to downgrade their membership without board review and approval. During the 18 month period, the member will not have voting rights, but will gain those after the 18 th month if they retain their membership. The MCC bylaws will apply for voting and membership rights. Former members who have been out of the club for less than one year may also rejoin under this new promotion. The board does not consider this as amnesty or a similar type of agreement since any former member rejoining will have to commit for18 months. Any former member who has been away for less than 1 year and wants to rejoin and not commit for 18 months will be subject to the terms of the MCC bylaws. A new applicant can elect to pay the membership classification initiation fee and would not have to make an 18 month commitment. They would have all rights afforded by the MCC bylaws. This promotion is available for all individual membership classifications. Corporate, Neighborhood or Association memberships will not be eligible for this promotion. Best of all, they will be joining a club with a great family atmosphere where they can enjoy the pool, tennis courts, and become involved in all the activities that we have planned for the 2012 season.
