Enid Moose News Enid, Oklahoma, Loyal Order of the Moose #1740 May 2018 From the desk of the Administrator Happy New Year Moose. May 1st starts a new year for the Moose fraternity. We had a good year last year. We surpassed our new member quota, and we as a lodge have more members now than what we started the year with, all the bills are paid, and the doors are still open. We have a new Board of Officers taking office on May 1. Mark Morton will be our Governor this year. Mark is a new member to the Lodge but he has grabbed the Moose by the horns and is going to do a fine job for us. Mark is retired from the Air Force where he was a fireman. He now works in the Quality Office for ASRCC, a Contract company at Vance. Chris Kirkley will be our Junior Governor, Sam Justice is our Prelate, and Mark Murphy is our Treasurer. Bob Austin will serve as 1st-year Trustee, Don Kirkley as 2nd-year Trustee, and Tyler Burris as 3rdyear Trustee. With Mark Hickman moving out of the Governors position, he now becomes the Jr. Past Governor. With us getting new officers, that means we are losing some. Ellis Williams, Jr. Past Governor; Kent Cook, Treasurer; and Toby Wallace, Prelate are all stepping down from the Board. I look forward to working with our new Board of Officers, but will truly miss working with these fine gentlemen, fraternalists all. We will continue to have our Thursday night dinner and WOTM Ladies will continue to sponsor a Monday night dinner in the Social Quarters. A couple of tid-bits of information about the Thursday night meals and Monday night meals. The Monday night meal is the Women s Chapter fund-raiser with the money going to pay their bills and commitments, and the money we earn from the Thursday night dinner goes to pay our insurance throughout the year, so please come out and support these fund-raising dinners. With all this being said, please come out to your lodge and share a meal and some great fellowship with your fellow members. This last year we had a very successful Moose Pit BBQ cook-off. We are looking to have another great one this month on the 11th and 12th. Kent Cook and his committee are putting together a great event. Friday night, everyone is welcome to come out and wander around the cook sites and get a taste of great BBQ. Saturday the cooks will be preparing their entries, so they may not have anything to sample. But you can still come and visit and watch the smokers smoke. Thanks for your support, and remember to please do something good for someone each day. Enid Sooner Moose Legion Committee What a great gathering we had last month, great food provided by Tyler Burris and Mark Murphy. Great entertainment by Enid s own Chloe Beth. If you guys are not coming out for our Moose Legion Committee gathering for food and fun, get us on your schedule 6:00 meal and free live entertainment. Just our Moose Legion Committee making things happen at the Lodge. Join us guys, we have fun. Well, our Moose of the month is John Estill. John has been helping in the kitchen on steak nights and Thursday nights when the Moose Legion cooks hamburgers or Hot hamburgers. Johns latest aid to the Moose Legion was a donation of a brand new Rtic ice chest. We will be raffling it off next to help us raise some cash to pay for some more entertainment in the Social Quarters. John, Thank you for your generous donation and offering a lending hand with some of the chores of our Lodge. Our May meeting will be on the 4th. Mark Pettus will be cooking the meal and a short gathering will be at 7:00. You know we will be eating good that night, never trust a skinny chef. Don t let Arnold the undertaker be the only one to pat you on your back. Do some good thing for someone each day so a pat on the back happens more than just the day they dress you in your last suit.
