I agree that if any injury occurs to me, my attendants, my horse or my equipment, I will make no claim against the NFHR, the local sponsoring group, or any of the Officers, Directors, Officials or Trustees of either. Further, I will hold them harmless from any liability claims, suits or damages of whatever kind that may be occasioned by the horse owned by me or the person in charge of such horse and I agree to indemnify and hold harmless these organizations and individual agents of any and all liability, claims, suits and expenses including any attorney fees incurred arising out of any injury to any person or damage to property caused by me, my horse, equipment, or attendants. I give my permission for the evaluation results, photographs and/or videos of my horse to be published by the NFHR. Horses being evaluated are required to be DNA typed & microchipped for positive identification. If your horse is not DNA typed or microchipped then please order on the next page. ALL ENTRIES MUST BE POSTMARKED BY June 15 th, 2009 IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE. To be eligible for Evaluation, a Fjord must: be owned by an NFHR member, be registered with the NFHR, have been DNA typed, be microchipped, and have a negative Coggins report. The DNA typing kits and microchips are available form Mike May and he is the person to contact if you have questions regarding your Fjord s status on any of the first five items. All owners and handlers are responsible for knowing and following the rules as described in the Revised 2008 NFHR Evaluation Handbook. Location Frying Pan Park is located at 2705 West Ox Road, Herndon, VA 20171. It s about 25 miles west of Washington, DC. Directions from the North: Take I-95 South to 495 toward Northern Virginia, exit onto Rt. 267 West (toll), exit Elden Street west, left at light on West Ox Road, left into Frying Pan Park. Directions from the West: Take I-66 East to Rt. 28 North, exit Rt 668 (McLearen Road) east, left on Centreville Road, right on West Ox Road, left into Frying Pan Park. Directions from the South: Take I-95 North to Rt. 123 (Ox Road) to Rt. 7100 (Fairfax County Parkway) west, exit left on West Ox Road, turn right into Frying Pan Park. The Crowne Plaza has a full service restaurant and bar, heated indoor swimming pool, health club, and free wi-fi service. The two Suites hotels offer kitchens and continental breakfast. There will be an on-site food concession stand at the Evaluation. Frying Pan Park is located within a short driving distance from several shopping centers which includes a grocery stores, fast food establishments and restaurants. Stabling Your stabling fee ($50 for the Evaluation), includes 2 bags of shavings, and a departure stall clean-out fee. Stabling anticipates arrival from noon on Thursday and departure by 6 p.m. on Saturday. All stalls will be assigned. Tack stalls are available for $25 for the Evaluation period. Aisle space is limited and not secure. It is recommended that participants use tack stalls. All horses attending the Evaluation MUST have a stall. Overnight on Saturday for the Virginia Fjord Fjestival Horse Show (Sunday, August16 th ) is available for an additional fee of $10 per stall (horse or tack stall). Evaluation participants may pay for Fjord Fjestival stabling on If you need more than 2 bags of shavings or wish to have hay delivered on-site, please contact Margaret Bogie at ironwoodfarmva@aol.com or 540-729-4430 by August 5 th with your order. No additional shavings or hay will be for sale on site, so please order in advance.
The stalls at Frying Pan Park have Dutch doors, so horses can hang their heads out of the stall. The top doors do close, so stall guards are optional. Items to bring for the stall include eyelets or baling twine to hang feed and water buckets, hooks, buckets, hay nets or hay bags. Schedule of Events Tentatively, the Evaluation will be start on the morning of Friday, August 14th with conformation tests. Performance tests are tentatively scheduled for Saturday, August 15 th. However, the number and type of entries will determine the final schedule and some performance tests could be held on August 14 th. A FINAL SCHEDULE AND EXHIBITORS PACKET WILL BE E-MAILED TO ALL PARTICIPANTS AFTER ENTRIES CLOSE. On Friday at 8 a.m., there will be a meeting of the participants. This is primarily an informational session to review the day s schedule and answer any questions. In addition to the Evaluation, there will be some vendors, demonstrations, and the 4th Annual Virginia Fjord Fjestival. This year, we will hold a HORSE SHOW on Sunday, August 16 with in-hand, riding, driving and fun classes. (The Fjestival Horse Show is NOT sponsored by the NFHR.
