Sqta JIGGI JIGGI REPORT We held our 7 th scheduled event of the year on the weekend down south of the border and returned to our Jiggi Jiggi property, nestled between Lismore and Nimbin. To say we had perfect winter weather would be the understatement of the year with clear blue skies and not a breath of breeze making it distinctly summer like, but without the humidity.the closest you get to perfection I reckon! Whilst the Cormack property is slightly lacking in natural terrain, John has amply made up for that by creating two unique gulleys of manmade sections nestled either side of a beautifully maintained mown grassy knoll, large enough to fit 6 Sections in and always a centre of activity throughout the day. Whilst one gulley is dry and grassy the second is wet and muddy and it was in this one that the majority of the points were lost during the day. Wet logs and grassy banks don t lend themselves to low scores and by the end of the day everyone was struggling to clean any number of them. The last 4 sections were scattered around the extremities of the property with a hill climb, two real scrabbly side hill nightmares finishing with a very rocky number under the trees that if cleaned felt like a real achievement. I think the scores attest to how difficult an event it was, not that you needed the scores to tell you if Monday morning anything to go by!!!!! Once again we had a full complement of Observers making the event that much more enjoyable for the 50 riders that entered and for those that made the 2 to 2 ½ trip south, and some who had the same northerly travel time, all the more worthwhile. By nightfall there were over 25 campers set up and collectively warmed by yet another monster John Cormack fire that had been in the making for the past 2 years. It s always a treat to have him arrive back around 8.00pm and stoke it with his excavator affectively providing the evening s entertainment. It was good to see yet another few new faces show up for their first rides with us continuing our fast becoming long tradition of getting more bums on seats but although they were waxing lyrical at day s end me thinks they may have chosen the wrong event to enter for their first one. Special thanks to John & Sherie Cormack and our northern NSW brethren who set this event up over a period of two weeks and to everyone who played a part in making the weekend another SQTA success story. Alas the post-match BBQ was poorly attended this time, due in no small part to folk wanting to get home before dark, but at least those that stayed behind for the result reading had the opportunity for BBQ seconds. See you next time at The Overflow. SQTA
