Annunciation School Newsletter Annunciationbvm.org May 10, 2017 Whoever believes in me believes not only in me but also in the one who sent me, and whoever sees me sees the one who sent me. John 12:45 Dear Parents, With just over three weeks left in the school year, I would like to take time today to acknowledge the efforts of some parent volunteers who have greatly contributed to making this a successful year. Working with this year s Home & School Association has been a delight. This group of women has dedicated their time and talents to provide numerous exciting opportunities for our students and support our wonderful teachers. Here s a recap of the great accomplishments of the 2016-2017 Home & School Association: Purchased 32 Chromebooks for the primary building Donated $10 per child to each class to subsidize a class field trip Subsidized the transportation costs for the schoolwide Art Institute field trip Ran a very successful Scholastic Book Fair in November Facilitated the magazine drive Saved our families time by ordering the school supply kits Provided the teachers with dinner and goodie bags at Parent-Teacher Conferences Instituted PIZZA FRIDAYS!!! Orchestrated the Christmas staff gift program Planned a memorable Super Heroes Catholic Schools Week, including the magician assembly Organized family dinner nights each month Purchased the One Book, One School selection Masterpiece and supported events with our book Presented the Internet safety program by Detective Rich Wistocki Updated playground equipment (soccer goals for the primary building arriving soon) Coming up a fun-filled year end celebration on June 2!! A huge debt of gratitude is owed to our outgoing Home & School members. After two years of service, we will greatly miss the leadership of President Julie Cibulskis, Jennifer Hirner, and Julie McCarty. We also thank members Mary Digate and Jackie Szilage who served this year but will not be returning next year. All five of these women have given countless hours of service to our school. We welcome the following new members for 2017-2018: Candace Benton, Sandra Galindo, Kristin Hultgren, and Jacquie Jungels. We are still in need of one more Home & School member. If you are interested in serving on this worthwhile board, please contact me.

Next up to thank are our two Hot Lunch coordinators Jeune Winkel and Erica Parsons. Hot lunch is a long-standing tradition that provides our students with a change of pace and our parents a break from packing lunches. The children really look forward to hot lunch days. For five years, Jeune Winkel has served as the front-end hot lunch coordinator in charge of selecting the vendor and menu choices, creating the flyer, and tallying and placing the order. For three years, Erica Parsons has served as the back-end hot lunch coordinator who purchases the extra items, such as drinks and desserts, prepares the meals for distribution, and coordinates the parent helpers and clean up. I can t thank Jeune and Erica enough for their years of service. We are looking for two new Hot Lunch coordinators. If you are interested, please contact the office. Both Jeune and Erica will be available to train our new coordinators. Final thanks go to our talented group of nurse-moms who provided the sports physicals on May 4. Jenny Baxter and Jackie Szilage conducted the physicals, while Sherrie Everett, Tricia Wilkins, and Kathi Watkins provided assistance with checking vitals and paperwork. This is such a benefit to our school families who now do not need to seek an outside source or expense for their child s sports physical. On Wednesday, May 17 our 7 th grade students will crown Mary at the 8:45 a.m. allschool Mass. This beautiful tradition is a staple at Catholic schools in the month of May to honor our Mother Mary. Finally, the end of the year Junior High dance A Night in the City is this Friday, May 12 from 7:00 9:00 p.m. in the school Gym. Parents of 6 th through 8 th graders received an email from me last week outlining the dress code and procedures. We could use one or two more parent chaperones. If you are able to chaperone, please call the school office. I would like to wish the 3 rd and 4 th grade girls involved in our GIRLS ON THE RUN group good luck as they run in a 5K this Saturday, May 13! Use your Star Powers, girls - you ve got this! Thank you to Mrs. Fitzgerald and Mrs. Grabacki for their dedication to these girls. Finally, I would like to wish all the moms a blessed Mother s Day! God bless your efforts at doing the most important job in the world! Sincerely, Mrs. Jennifer Wardynski
