Seniors on the Go ALVIN PARKS AND RECREATION COMMENTS FROM THE COORDINATOR- SHERRY WOLFE St. Patrick s Day began with a man who was born in Wales, captured by Irish raiders and sold into slavery in Ireland. He escaped after 6 years as a shepherd and fled to France. He then decided that his calling was to convert Irish pagans to Christianity. He was later appointed missionary bishop of Ireland. Patrick died on March 17th so that is when St. Patrick s day is celebrated every year. Even if you aren t Irish it is always a fun day to celebrate. We are celebrating LUCKY LEPRECHAUN POTLUCK There are only two kinds of people in the world, The Irish and those who wish they were. It doesn t matter what category you fall into we are celebrating St. Patrick s Day at the Senior Center with a Pot Lucky Leprechaun Lunch. Please call to sign-up and let us know what Irish dish you plan to bring. DATE: March 17 TIME: 12 PM the day designated as St. Patrick's feast day by having a feast of our own. Last year was the first year for the Lucky Leprechaun Potluck but it was such a success we are doing it again. For more information on this festive event see the section below. Be sure to get out all of your green clothes so you can stay in the Irish spirit all month long and if you happen to see a leprechaun be sure to keep both eyes on him because it is said that if you look away, the leprechaun will vanish.
