Slackline Definition Slacklining is a balance sport that uses nylon webbing tensioned between two anchor points. Slacklining is distinct from tightrope walking in that the line is not held rigidly taut (although it is still under some tension); it is instead dynamic, stretching and bouncing like a long and narrow trampoline. The line's tension can be adjusted to suit the user and different types of dynamic webbing can be used to achieve a variety of feats. The line itself is flat, due to the nature of webbing, thus keeping the slacker's footing from rolling as would be the case with an ordinary rope. The dynamic nature of the line allows for impressive tricks and stunts. Sportfaktor GmbH 4

World Slackline Federation (WSFED) Slackline Competitions overview World Cup event status: International event with 32 contestants with the seeded top 16 slackliners within the ranking list. These contests require the infrastructure to have the top 16 seeded slackliners invited at the cost of the organisation body and that the necessary prequalification measures like the online qualification for national and international wildcards are provided within the measures of the hosting event. A total prize money of at least 3700 has to be provided. National Contest status: (only one per year per nation) National contest status is received by providing the best possible infrastructure for inviting the best national slackliners. This includes a total prize money of at least 2000. National contests consist of at least 16. National contests can also be attended by international contestants. Points for national ranking lists are to be defined by national federation bodies. Challenger/State Contest status: Challenger contests status is received by upholding the regulations and infrastructure of the WSFED and in coherence has received the official verification and approval by the WSFED. A minimum of 16 contestants is required to receive challenger contest status. Points for national ranking lists are to be defined by national bodies. International slackliners are welcome to participate in challenger contests. A maximum number of 6 challenger contests can be approved by the Federation to ensure an evenly spread market of contests throughout the slackline world and to avoid that slackliners living in countries where there are no or little amount of contests are not disadvantaged.
