COURAGE/DETERMINATION/INSTINCT/SPIRIT FITNESS/RESOURCEFULNESS/FIRE WITHIN SELF-RELIANCE/HOPE As a father of three young boys I love sharing my survival techniques and going on family adventures together. It is not only exciting and fun but teaches them useful life and outdoor skills and what it really means to be able to look after yourself when the chips are down. Bear Grylls A combination of survival skills and adventure tasks that will put families to the test. Designed to inspire fathers and sons, mothers and daughters alike, this 24-hour outdoor adventure has been created by Bear Grylls and his close team of experts, and is delivered by a range of hand-picked instructors at various locations across the UK, each with their own challenges of woodland, heath and water. In parent and child teams, you ll learn Bear s famous survival techniques: how to build and light a fire, how to navigate at night, foraging for grubs and rodents, water purification, building a shelter, extreme weather survival and river crossings, and the best ways to use a knife for survival. On Day Two, you ll put these skills into action, following Bear s ethos of self-rescue, by crossing difficult terrain back to captivity. It s an opportunity to bring family members together through a truly memorable and fun experience. PLEASE NOTE: You must arrive at Frost Valley YMCA for 11.30AM for a prompt 12:00PM start. Full joining instructions are provided on page 4.

THE EXPERIENCE Bear s team of highly trained experts will facilitate learning, offer advice and guide participants through this taster survival experience, compressed into a 24 hour course. Learn to forage, identify animal runs and lay traps, skin and gut, navigate by day and night, build emergency shelters, stalk, protect yourself in the wild from attack, tie knots and make rope harnesses in order to safely cross difficult terrain such as rivers, lakes and steep ground by any means. This is not a military boot camp and it s much, much more than a bush craft course. This is an exclusive course where places are limited to 16 participants, who must be physically fit and active. From hour one you will be lead into the wilderness and during the course you will receive limited food and water. You will have to forage for anything else that may supplement your diet and use your skills to self rescue within the 24hrs! These are just some of the many activities you may undertake during the 24 Hour Family Survival Course with the Bear Grylls Survival Academy: Dynamic river runs and/or lake crossings Emergency shelter builds Navigate harsh terrain by day and night Rope skills crossing difficult terrain Survival knife skills and fire lighting Foraging for food, setting snares & traps Dynamic Self Rescue Techniques Have you got what it takes to survive for 24 hours until rescue? Please note all activities are weather dependent.

ABOUT BEAR GRYLLS Bear Grylls has become known worldwide as one of the most-recognized faces of survival and outdoor adventure. His journey to this acclaim started on a small island off the UK coast, where his late father taught him to climb and sail. Trained from a young age in martial arts, Grylls went on to spend three years as a soldier in the British Special Forces, as part of 21 SAS Regiment. It was here that he perfected many of the survival skills that his fans all over the world enjoy, as he pits himself against the worst of Mother Nature. Despite a free-fall parachuting accident in Africa, where he broke his back in three places and endured many months in military rehabilitation, Grylls went on to become one of the youngest climbers ever to reach the summit of Mount Everest. He then went on to star in seven seasons of the Discovery Channel s Emmy Awardnominated Man vs. Wild TV series, which became one of the most-watched shows on the planet, reaching an estimated 1.2 billion viewers. Since then he has gone on to host more extreme adventure TV shows across more global networks than anyone else in the world, including the BAFTA award-winning The Island with Bear Grylls and BAFTA award-winning Bear Grylls Survival School. In addition Bear produces and hosts Bear s Mission with... for ITV, NBC s Running Wild, 'Absolute Wild' for Dragon TV in China and Face the Wild for Facebook Watch. He is a number 1 bestselling Author, an Honorary Colonel to the Royal Marine Commandos and the youngest-ever Chief Scout, and inspiration to fifty million Scouts worldwide.
