Thursday 15 September 2016 Principal: Dennis Mitchell Assistant Principal: Mark Rogerson Volume 24 Issue # 29 RESPECT PRIDE SAFETY Doctor Makes a School Call Monash University medical students called in for a Doctor visit today in our Prep Hub for the Teddy Bears Hospital. Our students brought along their favourite teddy to get a check-up by the doctor. The activity hopes to teach students about being healthy and looking after themselves. The students also got to experience using the equipment and putting a plaster cast on their Broken Finger.

Principal s Thoughts We have reached the end. The end of another awesome term here at Ranfurly; one filled with great kids, good learning and a genuine family connection to what we do. Two big highlights was the Foodies Market and watching our Interschool sport teams every week. Maths for learning This week our grade 5/6 students have been busy building their design project from their Maths learning. The challenge. Use your knowledge of measurement, area, perimeter to design a Mini Golf course. The result is an 18 hold gold course constructed in our 5/6 unit. This will result in a golf competition in this area tomorrow. A truly terrific way to apply your learning, great effort! Prep Enrolments Please remind everyone in the school community to return their enrolment forms ASAP. This allows our school to get ready for next year. Our first official Transition day is set and we would like to have all of these forms before then. First Day No students Our first day back for term 4 is Tuesday 4 th due to a student free day. This allows our whole staff to do more training with the Stronger Smarter Institute. We do realise it can be a little hard for families however we are very grateful to be able to keep learning with this team. Hats for Term 4 On Monday, I reminded our students about our Sun Smart Policy at Ranfurly and to make sure they spend the time getting their hat ready for term 2. Of course if you need a new one there are plenty available in the Uniform Shop. Dennis Mitchell Footy Colours / Activity Day To help celebrate the football finals, tomorrow on the last day of term we will hold our annual Footy Colours Day. Students are encouraged to dress up in their favourite footy team colours whether it be AFL, Soccer or Rugby League / Union. There will be football themed activities for the students to participate in from 9.30am to 11.00am. Parents, family and friends are more than welcome to come along and enjoy the mornings festivities. Toby Cardew P.E. Co-ordinator GRADE 5/6 PUTT PUTT BUSLINK SUNRAYSIA Please note that on the last day of this term, Friday 16th of September 2016, ALL SCHOOL BUS afternoon runs will commence one hour earlier than a regular school day. Children that would normally catch connecting buses will be required to make their own arrangements. Students must be at their regular bus stops one hour earlier to ensure they do not miss the bus. Please contact Buslink if you have any queries on 5023

GRADE 2 SWIMMING SAFETY DAY Tyrone Hudson received Best on Ground during his under 13 football grand final for Mildura. Persisting in 1/2G In You Can Do It in 1/2G we have been learning about how we need to persist with something even when it is really tricky! The students have been learning about possible and impossible. The students were given different situations and they had to use their hands to show whether they thought the situation was possible or impossible.
