Fish Lake Team Relay Course Information

Fish Lake Team Relay Course Information The Fish Lake Team Relay begins at Fish Lake Lodge on the shores of beautiful Fish Lake located in Sevier County, Utah. The course stretches a 65 mile point to point course through Fish Lake National Forest and Sevier County. Along the route, teams of 6 runners will run through Fish Lake, Seven Mile Canyon, Nioche Divide, Sheep Creek, Gooseberry Canyon, I- 70 frontage road, Salina, Sigurd, and then to the finish line located at the Richfield City Park. This is an extremely scenic and beautiful running route. You will get to see a great variety from the high talus slopes of the Fish Lake National Forest to the beautiful red rock Pahvant mountain range. There is something for every runner. No overnight running here! Teams will be able to finish in a single day. Don t miss your opportunity to run in the best team relay race in the State!

Distance: 5.9 Miles Difficulty: 6 Route Description: This is a relatively flat run with a few rolling hills. The entire route is on pavement. This is a great start to the race. Runner Directions: Stay on Highway 25 the entire time. Please run on the shoulder of oncoming traffic. This is an open course. Scenery: 7. This is a very scenic route with some great views of the Fish Lake shoreline. Other Information: Restrooms are available at the start and finish of this leg. Leg #1 Shore Thing Fish Lake Lodge to Frying Pan

Leg #2 Out of the Frying Pan Into the Fire Frying Pan to the Johnson Fire Parking Lot Distance: 4.53 Miles Difficulty: 8 Route Description: This is a very difficult uphill leg. This route is on paved road. Runner Directions: Take a quick left onto the paved road. You will run on this road the entire time. Please run on the shoulder of oncoming traffic and be aware of OHV s. Scenery: 8. This is very scenic with some great views of the 7 mile valley and Mt. Marvine. Other Information: Portable restrooms are available at the exchange zone

Distance: 4.88 miles Difficulty: 8 Route Description: This is an uphill route that will test your legs. This is a good climb to the exchange zone. Runner Directions: Stay on the paved road the entire time. Please run on the shoulder of oncoming traffic and be aware of OHV s. Scenery: 8. This is very scenic with some great views of the 7 mile valley and Mt. Terrill. You can also see the Mt. Terrill Guard Station. Other Information: Portable restrooms are available at the exchange zone. There is limited parking at this exchange. Leg #3 Boobe Trap Johnson Fire to Cold Springs

Leg #4 Nioche What You Are Thinking Cold Springs to Nioche Divide Trailhead Distance: 4.5 Miles Difficulty: 9 Route Description: This is the most difficult route of the race. It is a climb for the first half and then a steep grade descent on the second half. Send your hill climber for this leg. Runner Directions: Stay on the Gooseberry Road the entire time. Please run on the shoulder of oncoming traffic and be aware of OHV s. Scenery: 8. This is very scenic with some great views of the Nioche Divide. Other Information: Portable restrooms are available at the exchange zone.

Distance: 5.75 Miles Difficulty: 5 Route Description: This is a lot of downhill! It may be more challenging than you think. You can put it on cruise control here and coast. Runner Directions: Stay on the Gooseberry Road the entire time. Please run on the shoulder of oncoming traffic and be aware of OHV s. Scenery: 6. This is very scenic with some great views of the Gooseberry area. Other Information: Restrooms are available at the exchange zone. Leg #5 I Go Down, Down, Baby Nioche Divide to Sheep Creek

Distance: 4.65 Miles Difficulty: 5 Route Description: This is a nice easy run down gooseberry canyon. The entire leg is on pavement with some steep declines. Your legs will get hammered on this route. Runner Directions: Stay on the Gooseberry Road the entire time. Please run on the shoulder of oncoming traffic. Please be careful on the downhill switchbacks. Scenery: 6. This is very scenic with some great views of German Flat and the Gooseberry Canyon. Other Information: Restrooms are available at the exchange zone. Leg #6 Let the Goose Loose Sheep Creek to Lower Gooseberry Trailhead

Leg #7 Are We There Yet? Lower Gooseberry Trailhead to I-70 Interchange Distance: 6.00 Miles Difficulty: 6 Route Description: The distance makes this route a bit more difficult. This is a gorgeous run down the canyon. Not a lot of shade, you will be in the afternoon sun during this route, and will be asking, are we there yet? Runner Directions: Stay on the Gooseberry Road the entire time. Please run on the shoulder of oncoming traffic. Scenery: 6. The scenery on this leg is great with view of several ranches and the oak covered foothills. Other Information: Restrooms are available at the exchange zone and Great Western Trail Trailhead ¼ mile east up the frontage road.

Distance: 6.22 Miles Difficulty: 7 Route Description: This leg follows I-70 along the frontage road. The distance and the running conditions make this leg a bit harder than others. Runner Directions: Stay on the frontage road the entire time. Runners will go through a tunnel under the freeway. If there is water from a storm, runners can ride support vehicles through the tunnel. Scenery: 5. The scenery on this leg is not spectacular, but there are several good views of Triangle Mountain and Salina Creek. Other Information: Restrooms are available ¼ mile east of the exchange zone and at Salina City Park. Leg #8 Tunnel Vision I-70 Interchange to Salina City Park

Distance: 5.45 Miles Difficulty: 7 Route Description: This is a relatively flat run with a few rolling hills. There is 1.2 miles of dirt road on this course. Runner Directions: Start on old Hwy #10 and run into Salina to 300 South and turn left. You will run past a car wash to main street and take another left. Cross main street and take a quick right and then another quick left. You will pass by JJWD and then take a right onto Lost Creek Road. You will come to a stop sign and stay straight on the dirt road. After passing up a hill you will take a left back on to Lost Creek Road and follow it to the exchange zone at 450 south. Scenery: 5. You get to pass through Salina City and see some of the farmland west of town Other Information: Restrooms are available at the start of this leg and portable restrooms will be available at the exchange zone. Leg #9 I Once Was Lost Salina City Park to Grove of Trees

Distance: 5.85 Miles Difficulty: 8 Route Description: This is a very solid leg. It is gradually uphill and you will be running in the afternoon heat. This will be a tough leg. Runner Directions: Stay on Lost Creek Road for one mile and you will hit the dirt road. Follow the dirt road along I-70 past a mossy pond and several cattle guards. At mile 4 you will pass under the freeway and follow the Sevier river. You will come to Hwy 24 and take a left. Stay on the shoulder to the exchange zone in the gravel parking lot at Vermillion. Scenery: 5. Not a lot of scenery. You will run through farmland and have some great views of Rocky Ford Reservoir and the Sevier River. Other Information: The exchange zone will be on the East side of Hwy 24. Park on the west. Portable restrooms will be available. Leg #10 The Road Less Traveled Grove of Trees to Vermillion

Leg #11 How Much is a Vermillion Vermillion to Cedar Ridge Distance: 5.90 Miles Difficulty: 6 Route Description: This route will run down Hwy 24 to sub station road. The course is flat with a small hill in the middle. Runner Directions: You will run down Hwy 24 past Rocky Ford Reservoir to the town of Sigurd. You will take a right on Center street and pass a church. You will head west past the Cemetery and go under Hwy 118. You will run past the sub-station and a large dairy farm. The exchange zone will be a large school trust land field. Park down the road to the north. Scenery: 5. You will get some great views of the Red Hills and Cedar Ridge. Other Information: Portable restrooms are available at the start and finish of this leg.

Leg #12 Park Hopper Cedar Ridge to Richfield City Park Distance: 5.6 Miles Difficulty: 5 Route Description: This is a relatively flat run with a few rolling hills. Pay close attention to the course markings. This runners needs to have an internal GPS. Tough navigation! Runner Directions: Stay on the canal road as it winds through several farms. The pavement will end near mile four and you will follow 500 East to 400 North and finish at the City Park. Scenery: 5. Only farmland and views of the Red Hills on this course. Other Information: Restrooms are available at the start and finish of this leg.
