Keep Yourself Hydrated FROM THE LSFSC PRESIDENT By Rock Rotten SASS # 90073 Wow. All I can say is wow! It seems like I ve been doing nothing but shooting lately at all the major shooting events in a four state area soon to add two more states. I ve been to the State Championship, the Louisiana State Championship, Land Run, the Mississippi River Rangers Annual Shoot, and Senior Games. And I m just getting started. Several more to go with the next big one being End of Trail. Just a couple more monthly matches at our three local clubs and here we go! And dang, I m shooting better than ever! And my family has been lucky three shoots, three guns won people are going to think we ve rigged something but I assure you, we haven t. And the best news is my brother Stumpman claims he s going to EoT one way or another come hell or high water! So Stumpman, Cowhand, Ain t Dunnit and I will be traveling, lodging, shootin, and celebratin (or cryin) together for the whole week. That town ain t gonna know what hit em. There will definitely be a big ring stain around the pool by the time we leave. FROM The CVV President By Billy Bob Evans SASS# 53658 Hi all! What a month - a lot happened in May so here it goes. I will start with the so-so news first. If you have not already heard Reo Hondo Rob slipped and fell on some mud and cow poop after our match on Saturday and broke his leg/hip. He did have surgery to have some hot rod Titanium parts installed. They replaced his hip and in his own words I am counting on the Titanium highperformance hip to knock a second off my stage shooting times. Needless to say he is doing well and looking forward to testing his new highperformance hip very soon. If you recall last month I talked about CVV donating the profit from May to the Snow Ball Express and I am glad to say after our expanses CVV donated $200.00. Sidewinder Sid donated $50.00 from his lunch sales and if I got it correct Gunslinger donated $20. That makes the total $270.00 and to make it better they had a major corporation match all denotations made to them in the month of May. So our $270.00 ended up being $540.00 more than enough to pay for one family of a fallen hero to attend the event in December.

Shootin Fox 817-888-4228. Words from the MEMBERSHIP COORDinator By Rio Hondo Rob We have 3 new shooters comin to Ormsby Ranch; 2 are shootin with us now and the third may be showing up (oooooh about) 8 years from now. Doc Storm (Matthew Bare) comes down from Denton, TX. He migrated to from Maryland, where he previously shot Cowboy Action. We have already seen some impressive match scores from him. Doc, welcome to Ormsby Ranch. We hope you realize that you landed in the middle of SASS Cowboy Action heaven. Gerald Stein hails from nearby Glen Rose, TX. His Sass Alias is Ger Bear. Of further interest is his new SASS number; the first we have seen, over 100K, with 6 digits (100267). Ger Bear has already shot some Wild Bunch and is looking forward to more CAS. Ger Bear, welcome to Ormsby Ranch. Our third new shooter was just born, at the end of April. He ll need to mature and practice just a bit. He is Henry ( Hank ) Burroughs Benitez with H.B. as his new SASS alias. H.B. has a life-time SASS membership with a SASS number exactly 70,000 higher than his grand pappy. He is the fourth grandson of proud grandparents, Brazos Belle and Crooked Bullet (Karen & Billy Rice). I think it will be worth stickin around, awhile, just to see H.B. shoot. Q.: What do you get when you combine Prairie Gumbo topsoil, with heavy sudden downpour, plus a fast break toward the car when the rain slacks off?

ROCK ROTTEN Continued And on the political front all I can say is wow. Once again, our feckless president has outright betrayed the American people and slapped all our veterans squarely in the face. Trading five senior Taliban leaders who are no doubt very dangerous men, for one suspected deserter is downright low. And I thought this administration couldn t sink any lower actually I did, but now I m wondering just how low low can go. Allowing this traitor s treacherous father to stand in the Rose Garden with dear leader and spout filth in an enemy tongue out his mouth isn t fooling anybody dear leader, your burkha is showing. Ain t you got some pink tennis shoes to go with that? Clearly, our representatives in the government have let us down. They continue to allow this rouge regime to get away with anything it wants while blatantly ignoring our constitution. This is no longer a government of the people for the people by any stretch of the imagination. November elections cannot come soon enough but then again, I m not holding my breath that any significant changes for the good of the American people will result. Don t even get me started on immigration, the EPA, the VA, Benghazi, and the list continues to grow. Pray we don t have Hillary to deal with in a few short years. Pray hard and pray often. Pray the rest of our county turns back to God. I fear the worst is yet to come. By the way, has anyone seen my airliner lately? I heard a rumor there were five bearded guys flying it to Qatar.. watching Beyonce and Jayz on the video. Surfin the net for porn. In case you haven t heard, Rio Hondo Rob had a bad spill at the range a few weeks ago. He was hurrying to his vehicle during a rain and slipped on the mud. Dang near got run t over by Billy Bob, but he managed to crawl out of the way. Poor guy broke his leg up by his hip and split the ball joint too. So now he has a new titanium hip and is bragging about how he has hot rod parts in him. He is in good spirits and already anxious to get back to shooting. Please wish him a speedy recovery. He said he had his best shooting day ever that day. I ve heard and seen a lot of comments lately from our cowboys and cowgirls saying how Cowboy Action Shooting is what the live for. I know my brother and his wife live for SASS and I know it s become a major part of my life. I understand how they feel. This is the best time of year for us with all the annual club matches, State Championships and so forth. It s so much fun seeing people again and meeting new shooters. I really enjoy shooting with folks I ve never met, especially those at clubs who don t get a chance to go all over the place like I get to. I encourage everyone to invite their friends, family and co-workers to come try this sport. After all, it really is too much fun not to share. I m sure their Second Amendment Right needs exercising too. BILLY BOB EVANS Continued Now for Wild Bunch, the state match went off without a hitch. Everyone had a good time. At the end of my part of the newsletter, I am including an early version of the article Dusty Bottoms and I will be submitting to SASS. Dusty did a better job of describing the match than I could, so I thought I would share it with you all first. The one we send to SASS will include pictures and the scores but the base article will be the same. I also want to thank EVERY one who helped with setting up the range on Thursday before the match. I know if I try to list everyone I would forget someone. I do want to especially thank two people who came out that do not even shoot in Wild bunch Sagebrush Shorty and Cowtown Jack, also Long Ranger Rick for donating the bulk of our door prizes. Now that summer is upon us, it is time if you want, to switch to hot weather type comfortable costume for CVV,s monthly matches. In August we may even have a to hot weather costume contest, next month I will give some example of what I am thinking about.

Rio Hondo Rob Continued A.: You get an all new high-tech Titanium right upper Femur hip joint replacement!! (Take it from me, I learned the hard way.) I am healing/rehabilitating At Continuum Rehab Hospital, Flower Mound. My new hot rod Rt hip was installed early Sunday morning and I was out of surgery and awake, form anesthesia, in time to see the Indianapolis 500 and HONDA s 10th Indy Victory. A good day at Harris Methodist Hosp. Cleburne. Like legendary Rocky Raccoon,...I ll be back just as soon as I am able. In the meantime, THANKS for all of the calls, visits, e-mails, best wishes, support. It was Billy Bob Evans and is brother-in-law Top (John) that got me into the RF seat of my car and hauled off to the Emergency Room, made sure I was admitted after the X-rays. Cowtown Jack s visit was especially good for my spirit. A Special Thanks, you guys. Billy Bob observed right; we are like family at CVV & LSFSC.ROCK TEXAS SASS STATE CHAMPIONSHIP MAY 16,17,18 2014 THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP WITHOUT A DOUBT WAS THE BEST QUALITY WILD BUNCH MATCH I HAVE HAD THE PLEASURE OF ATTENDING! For the paltry sum of the match fee I was fed well for 3 days. Won a really cool oversize ammo can. Had the privilege to shoot in exclusive wild bunch side matches including the BAMM and BAMMBALOOZA which had so much shooting in it some thought we needed the defaulters standing by to jump start you if a problem developed. The best 10 stage main match that any in attendance had seen. Hats off to the match director Goatneck Clem for thinking up these tremendous stages. the main match was set up at minimum wild bunch distances or greater. A vast variety of targets were used including static plates, knockdowns, plate racks, tombstone racks, dueling trees, hostage targets and clay birds with some stages using nearly all the above. THIS MATCH WAS 6 FLAGS FOR SHOOTERS! Round counts to 25 for pistol and 5-10 rifle and 6 shotgun were the orders for both days. First off this match from a technical standpoint featured no weak or filler stages. I would be hard pressed to point out a favorite stage. they were all just that good. I do have to say though that a 2 position of 10 rounds each with a rattlesnake sweep coupled to a 9 yard short cowboy target for 5 and continuing on to a 20 yard 10 shot rattler rifle sweep and finishing up with 6 shotgun,5 plates and 1 hard flying bird was awfully good. If that was too technical for you how about 25 pistol,5 rifle,6 shotgun. 31 targets, shoot each target at least once. there were no designated rifle, shotgun or pistol targets. all targets were shooters choice. this match by design was a two day match with each day having a different style of match. the folks shooting wild bunch that came to this match came to shoot and to have fun. Everyone was in a good mood that just got better. While not a high number of shooters attended the ones in attendance proved their prowess with the 1911. all competitors at this match were seasoned accomplished wild bunch shooters. All were very safe in gun handling and all were FAST. HATS OFF TO ALL THE COMPETITORS! This group of shooters all ran in a tight pack until the end but when the smoke cleared the top overall went to Capt. Sam Evans who shot like he always does...remarkable! Top lady went to Green Eyed Brazos Bell. We didn't have a lot of lady shooters but those we had were great shooters. Matches of this quality require a lot of help and work before, during and after the match. Billy Bob Evans President of Comanche Valley Vigilantes is the club who hosted this match. Billy Bob does whatever needs to be done to make the match a success. Due to all his duties with computers, print outs, gathering up all the door prizes, awards and all the other hats he wears at a match like this he didn't get the opportunity to shoot the whole match so he settled for Saturday main match and showed off his ability in BAMM. Club presidents like this who strongly support WB is what will make this sport grow. Speaking of BAMM (bolt action military rifle) we had a really good turnout for the two matches. The first match was a single location any position two separate identical sweeps 10 shots total. Rifle starts with 5 rounds in magazine, bolt open, at the beep close bolt commence fire reload on clock 5 more shots. The second match BAMMBALOOZA 14', this match was an event instead of a side match.

Wild Bunch Continued It was shot at the Mercantile standing in doorway rifle in hand 5 in mag, bolt open. At the beep proceed to left window, engage 5 rifle 85 to 125 yards in prescribed order. Proceed to right window load and repeat. Make rifle safe, draw pistol engage plate rack. Move to door opening engage dueling tree, then engage devil man (90 yards) with pistol! Move to left window engage second plate rack, ground pistol. Proceed to porch (other end of building)shoot 6 shotgun targets, ALL SIX ARE CLAYS thrown from a commercial machine. Hard fought but the winner of both was Dusty Boddams. Fastest pistol, surrender draw fire repeat two dueling trees for 10 shots, lots of interest. An exact tie for the ladies between Wicked Felina and Brazos Bell. Mens went to Evil Roy who now lives in the great lone star state. Long range speed pistol, which was devil man at 90 yards 5 shots most hits, fastest time another well contested match. Winner Dusty Boddams with style points going to Crooked Bullet for attempting it one handed, no rest and dang near winning it! Blazing scatterguns 1, pair of shooters team up they have 12 shots each, button held down electric thrower throws 24 birds. Stage is over very quickly with winner being father/son Capt Evans and Goatneck. Second place went to the Griff/Dusty team. Blazing scatterguns 2, shooter starts shotgun in hand 6 in magazine, at the beep six targets are thrown from commercial machine, Winner Frank Hamer. Top gun shoot off, well attended and well fought, a gunfight featuring 3 shotgun,5 rifle and 5 pistol. won by Goatneck. Costume contest--- highly contested and decided through hidden judges. After too much deliberation the winner was announced Capt. Commando Jarrett for his portral of the scout sergeant chicken in the perishing expedition. Ladies somehow didn't get announced but the winner was Wicked Felina honorable mention for each category was Odessa, mens and Brazos Bell, ladies. A good time was had by all. lots of laughter and fun was had. everyone went home with a door prize and Grouchy Spike (that lucky man) went home with a brand new Chrony! this match spoke of what a wild bunch match should be...targets and distances were perfect.
