Golf Bridges Gaps 2001 2003 2001 The Mamre-Patmos-School and the Bielefeld Golf Club become partners in the sport of golf. Under the direction of KlausHermann Bunte and the pro of the Bielefeld Golf Club, Bradley Kerr, the Mamre-PatmosSchool establishes the first golf club for students with intellectual disabilities. 2002 Regular training days during the school week prove very successful for teaching golf. Thanks to the support of various sponsors, equipment, golf bags and golf clubs are acquired. The idea is supported by Walter Maaß, the former president of the Bielefeld Golf Club, Albrecht Zur Weihen, school headmaster at the time, Frank Thies, former deputy headmaster of the Mamre-Patmos-School and Dr. Lutz Worms, head of the exercise and sports therapy services of Bethel, Germany. 2003 Participation of Special Olympics Deutschland in the World Games in Dublin is an unexpected first highlight. Cathrin Wöstenfeld, Sebastian Kirsten, Natascha Herzog, Andreas Tzschichholtz and KlausHermann Bunte are enthusiastic participants in the event. The Mamre-Patmos-School gains national acclaim as a special education school with a focus on intellectual development in the golf sport.
2004 2006 2004 National games of Special Olympics Deutschland held in Hamburg from 14 to 19 July 2004. First time golf is included in the national games. The Mamre-Patmos-School participates with four students in the event (Cathrin Wöstenfeld, Felix Kahmann, Sebastian Kirsten, Jan-Hendrik Remmert). 2005 At the 9th Bethel athletics, golf is offered as a demonstration sport for the first time. 2006 Hörmann becomes the main sponsor of the golf activities of the Mamre-Patmos-School. National games of Special Olympics Deutschland held in Berlin from 12 to 15 September 2006.
2007 Participation in the World Games of Special Olympics Deutschland in Shanghai. Seven out of eight members of the German team are from the Mamre-Patmos-School: Ulrike Krieft, Charlotte Beckmann, Cathrin Wöstenfeld, Kai Etzrodt, Robin Siekmann, Oktay Tan and Christian Gärtner.
2008 The Mamre-Patmos-School organizes the first North-Rhine Westphalia (NRW) Special Olympics golf tournament on 23 October 2008 with participants from Paderborn, Mettmann, Mönchengladbach and Bielefeld. The games are inaugurated under the patronage of Sybille Hörmann. The golf team also participates in the national games of Special Olympics Deutschland held in Karlsruhe from 16 to 20 June 2008.
2009 National training camp for the golfers from North-Rhine Westphalia from 12 to 13 May 2009. in Bielefeld Bradley Kerr is appointed as the golf co-ordinator of Special Olympics NRW.
2010 National games of Special Olympics Deutschland held in Bremen from 14 to 19 June 2010. 2nd NRW Special Olympics golf tournament held on 28 October 2010 in Bielefeld.
2011 High-level visitor to the Bielefeld Golf Club. The former Federal President Horst Köhler visits the v. Bodelschwingh Foundation Bethel and the Bielefeld Golf Club. Prof. Dr. Horst Köhler keeps his promise of participating in a golf tournament with the golf team of the Mamre-PatmosSchool. Member of the board Prof. Dr. Günther Wienberg accompanies the guest of honour during the event.

2011 Participation in the World Games of Special Olympics Deutschland in Greece. Bradley Kerr accompanies the German golf team as head coach.
2012 3rd NRW Special Olympics golf tournament held on 19 April 2012 in Bielefeld. In the year 2012, the Golfstützpunkt (golf centre) NRW is established a cooperation among the Bielefeld Golf Club, the v. Bodelschwingh Foundation Bethel and Special Olympics NRW.
2012 Golfers with intellectual disabilities regularly attend training at the golf course. Supervised by Bradley Kerr, the players practise the basic swings and try their luck on the 9-hole course.

2013 First integrative golf tournament for youth teams of the Bielefeld Golf Club and the Mamre-Patmos-School on 28 September 2013 in Bielefeld.
2013 Rainer Fuess, President of the Bielefeld Golf Club, is an avid supporter of golfing for people with intellectual disabilities.
2014 National games of Special Olympics Deutschland held in Düsseldorf from 19 to 23 May 2014. Bradley Kerr and Klaus-Hermann Bunte are in charge of the discipline golf as responsible national coaches. On 27 September 2014: Germany's first integrative golf tournament is held in Bielefeld. Schedule: 9 am Meeting, registration of participants, team formation 9.30 am Welcome 10 am Begin of level 1 games individual skills competition in teams 11.30 am End of level 1 12 noon Division into teams based on the results of level 1 into the group A-B (9 holes) or C-D (4 holes). 12.15 pm Begin of level 2 games group A-B at tee box 1 1 pm Begin of level 2 games group C-D at tee box 6 The refreshments (snacks and drinks) are available at a central refreshment station during and after the event. 4.30 pm Awards ceremony
2015 From 8 to 10 June the 1st Special Olympics state games of NRW were held in Paderborn under the patronage of minister-president Hannelore Kraft. Following an impressive inauguration ceremony at the Ahorn-Sportpark in Paderborn, 600 participants competed in 8 different sports. The NRW golf centre at the Bielefeld Golf Club was in charge of the sport of golf under the direction of Corinne Belmann (competition office), Bradley Kerr (sports) and Klaus-Hermann Bunte (organisation). A total of 30 golfers from North-Rhine Westphalia participated in the competitions that were held on the golf course of the Haxterpark in Paderborn. The Mamre Patros School was represented by 13 students at the event. After exciting competitions, Lars-Hendrik Schreiner, who at age 13 was the youngest participant in the sport of golf, achieved an impressive 2nd place in flight 2 (9-hole). Lars Lange, who gained the silver award in flight 1 (9-hole) and Marc Schmelmer, who gained the bronze award in the same competition, were equally successful.
2015 Special Olympics World Games Los Angeles 2015 At the Special Olympics World Summer Games in Los Angeles 2015 from 25 July to 2 August 2015 more than 7,000 athletes from 177 countries met to compete in 25 different sports. Together the athletes celebrated an international, emotional and diverse festival. The World Games were inaugurated by Michelle Obama at a very festive celebration. For the past 3 years, our golf instructor of the Bielefeld Golf Club and the NRW golf centre, Bradley Kerr, has been the national golf coach of Special Olympics Deutschland. Klaus-Hermann Bunte, who participated several times as coach, organizer and consultant in national and international games, supported Bradley Kerr and thoroughly prepared him for his duties at the World Games in Los Angeles. The members of the German team included Michelle Annemarie Fischer NRW (4th place in the individual skills competition of group 1), Matthias Lenzmeier NRW (2nd place in the 9-hole competition) and Sarah Rinkowitz Bavaria (4th place in the individual skills competition of group 4). All three team members had previously participated in various training camps and tour - naments of the NRW golf centre.
