HOOfPRINTS November 2017 President: Adrienne Curran 0413 486 282 DC : Lynn Evans n Kez Secretary: Tammy Edgars Hoofprints Editor: jeffevans@bigpond.com CMPC Web Site www.coriomoorabool.ponyclubvic.org.au DC REPORT Dear Members & Parents, Well thanks to all our members for supporting the Pink Day last rally, it was a good day and the mums that made pink goodies were enjoyed by all. This rally we are back to our normal uniform and shiny boots, remember to keep your uniform clean and tidy. As we get into summer your horse gear will need to be well oiled and kept clean especially during these summer months with the hot sun and dust that comes with the dry ground. Your ponies will now be shedding that winter coat that help keep them warm through the colder months, keep the brush handy and give them a quick brush regularly to help that hair from balling under rugs and to keep them well groomed. All these things come with being a good horse owner, if you re the rider then it s your responsibility not mum and dads. This month we are having a visit from Catherine Ainsworth from PCV in Mulgrave Catherine has heard some wonderful things about our Pony Club and is coming this rally to see how good we really are. LETS SHOW HER WE ARE THE BEST and make Catherine welcome to Corio Moorsbool Pony Club. Coral Byrne our Zone Rep is also visiting along with Catherine many of you know Coral and would have seen her at many of the events that Coral attends. See you Sunday, early for Muster, Clean and tidy uniform and gleaming horses, brushed and groomed. Lynn n Kez
PRESIDENT S REPORT Hi everyone We held our Combined Training event on October 22 and with the help of a number of members and their families it was a lovely day and a great fundraiser for the club. Thank you to everyone who made themselves available to assist. We have decided to hold our end of year Presentation Night at the clubrooms this year. Please put aside the evening of Friday December 8 to come along. CMPC raised $250 for the National Breast Cancer Foundation at October rally. A great effort from everybody. Well Done!!. Adrienne Groups Gear Check Gear check is now in groups. The posts to indicate where to wait will be changed to Group Names and spread out over the front of the Show Jumping arenas as usual. Could whoever is first to their group collect the appropriate Gear Check Folder, a pen and a Hi-Vis vest from the table at the front of the clubrooms and return to their rider. Everyone will be doing each other s gear check so begin to make yourself familiar with the gear check form. When the next person arrives please swap to do each other s gear. We will have someone assist each group of Gear Check this month and until we have had some training for everyone. Thank you Adrienne

OCTOBER RALLY SADDLE CARE After you ve washed the saddle and it has been allowed to dry, go over the leather with a conditioner, oil, or whatever you wish to use,. If the leather seems really dry, use a high grade of oil to replace what time and washing have removed.the oil should be used sparingly, unless leather is quite dry.over-oiling will add unnecessary weight to the saddle and it may also bleed out of the leather in hot weather. The whole saddle should be periodically cleaned and conditioned. The latigo is often looked at less than other parts, because it is always in contact with the horse, it needs attention to make sure it doesn t get hard, brittle or cracked, which will make it weaker. With that weakness comes the risk of breaking and having the saddle part company with the horse. Riders Having Fun at October Rally All Photos taken are available to our members free of charge - just email me at jeffsimac@bigpond.com and I will email them to you. I try to take photos of all of our riders but I could easily miss some. If that happens please let me know and I will make a special effort to include them next time. Jeff
